  1. BrownSugar, I'm guilty of this exact thinking!!! I'm sorry My friend has also decided to have a dw 3 months after mine and i'm now getting the news that she's possibly going to do it offsite in Jamaica. And my exact thought was "well what about your guests staying at the resort?"(thinking of how I'm not doing my own offsite b/c I don't want anyone to feel some type of way) I explained to her, well if you charter the transportation for everyone to get to your ceremony site, reception site and back to the resort, then it's fine. Otherwise, I'd assume people will either back out or choose whatever resort is closer to the offsite wedding which in my opinion, kinda defeats my idea of "a huge family vacation". I think if you provide the transportation for everyone and still explain that you have certain activities at the resort, it should all be fine!!!
  2. hmm I guess.I could do it for the escort cards since I'm naming each table after beach destinations
  3. Alexis!!! gosh I wish I would have saw this before doing my save the dates! what a great idea!! beautiful!
  4. Here's what I did For the save the dates, i made boarding pass invitations and created magnets and included them in them. The invitations: Pocket fold invitations with a "passport" information book. But I didn't stop there! I decided to make a dvd of the resort videos I found on youtube and added my own music in the background that really captures DR. I haven't sent them out yet, but I'm sure that will get them excited!
  5. Ha!!! I totally agree brownsugar!!! I've gotten so much crap about having a destination wedding and i'm just like well that's what WE want. Unless you got $30k, you're willing to shell out on a NY wedding, I'm sorry we're not settling!
  6. T!!! I miss you!! I hope you're ok with me bugging you for the next 9 months! Thanks in advance! Lol I haven't gotten to see the slideshow yet but from the photos I've seen, I kinda wanna steal Heather your photog!! LOL
  7. Hi Girls, So I have about 1 week left in invitation making. I have to say this project bit me in the you know what!!! I took on wayyy too much but the satisfaction of that first one keeps me going. I decided to start doing something fun like looking at bridesmaids' tees. I know it's too early but it's something fun after such a huge task!!!
  8. Hey Natalie! Have a great trip!!! I usually tip the maid $50 for the entire stay, roughly about $10 a day if I have them fix the room everyday. Bartenders/servers a few singles here and there. If the bartender is great, a $5 or $10 should do it for the night I can't help you on the last 3 as I'm still undecided on what I would tip. Guess it depends on what a great job they do and what you can afford!
  9. Hi Girls, For Bar Higuey, about how many floating flowers do you think i would need for the pond?
  10. Teena!!! That cake topper photo is priceless! I might have to copy! Your photog did an amazing job!!!! You looked beautiful!
  11. There's actually a thread for BBPD. Plenty of brides have done the beach ceremony and loved it. I am personally getting married on the pier at BBPD just because my FI fell in love with the idea .
  12. Hi Aly, I looked at the Hard Rock also and hated the outrageous quotes I was getting!!! I am having the ceremony on the pier and Susana told me 55 is the max on the pier. You will not go wrong with your wedding at BBPD. They've done such amazing jobs here. I have not read one review where the girls have regretted their decision in this resort. Welcome!!!
  13. Hi Teena, I wanted you to know that I absolutely read your review and had even showed my FI your video to "Danza Kuduro" since we have considered doing our own bridal party dance to the song. The song seems to be the theme song for my wedding. I didn't get a chance to thank you for your review but I did read it and appreciated it. I, like, many of the girls here have grown close to TRivera and even bug her with my questions outside of this thread. I don't want you to feel that your review didn't count. I appreciate the advice regarding the symbolic ceremony certificate also. I will be sure to have someone make sure I pick it up!!! As far as the cocktail hour, I also don't feel like spending the money but it does look amazing to have!!
  14. Soooo I guess money doesn't always get you what you want. Susana said the snow-cone station is not possible b/c they don't have the ice machine. Wahhhh!!!!
  15. T, the fish bowls look really good for them to be plastic. Mind me asking how much they were?
