Great site!
Thanks!
Congrats to you! 1 year will fly by. There are quite a few of us RIU Palace brides to be on here so you should be able to get alot of information here! Best of luck!

Congrats on your wedding! I'm def not the expert and am getting married at a resort, but def check out Suzanne morel for hair and makeup.Hi everyone, I just got engaged, and am planning my destination wedding to Cabo. I have never been to Cabo(But fiance has been 5+ times) and wont' be having a big elaborate wedding. It will only be immediate family/friends (8-12 people total including groom and bride!). I just booked our lodgings (We are renting the penthouse apartment at Terrasol - that used to be owned by Oscar de la hoya - it is absolutely breathtaking 3 bed 3 bath penthouse apartment with oceanfront view to the Pacific ocean. I am a DIY simple bride, in my 40's, and this isn't my first wedding (3rd both both groom and I). They say 3rd time's the charm! We want an intimate symbolic wedding ceremony and a fun dinner/reception (with plans to have our civil ceremony when we return from cabo). I am thinking about having the ceremony on the deck at our penthouse, and then dinner/reception at one of the local oceanview restaurants. Although I may be persuaded to a beach ceremony near the restaurant or in combination with the restaurant (Mona lisa looks amazing! I have emailed them but haven't heard back yet. I need just the basics (Officiant, restaurant recommendations, transportation to and from restaurant, hair/makeup for bride and bride's sister, flowers, acoustic guitar trio and that is it. Any suggestions? I could really use the guidance. I don't think I need a coordinator for such a simple small event, but I have reached otu to Karla, and another local coordinator requesting help and proposal - but also haven't heard back from them... how come people are so slow to respond? probably because they can see I am not a big budget bride.... Therefore I am relying on all of you - if you have any tips, tricks, suggestions that can help me I would really appreciate it! K -
Congrats! I used trip advisor to search cabo hotels... There were about 30 and you can narrow down pretty quick with filters like price or all inclusive (or non AI). I'm getting married at the RIU Palace and there are a lot of Dreams brides on the forum as well. The hotels will meet with you in person if you get in touch with them to set it up. Good luck!Hello Everyone!, It's exciting to finally find a forum that has everything I need. So, my fiance and I have finally decided for sure that we want to get married in Cabo with about ~30 guests January 2014. What is the best way to choose the resort? We've booked a quick trip with my mother for May this year and we would like to visit a few resorts to see what's available. Any recommendations on resorts? Does anyone know if we are able to talk to someone at the resorts in person? Thanks in advance for any help! -
Congrats Aynat! Welcome back, you looked beautiful! Can't wait to hear more!!

Hi Mels! We are using Gilda Badillo for photography and Jorge Ibarra for Videography

Hi Kat! I am using Teresa Stauring of vacations for less. I found her through this website and she has been great so far! I am also getting married in Cabo. All you have to do is click on the travel agent advertisement on the right and they will contact you and assign you someone (or you can try and request her, but I hear there are a lot of good ones through just requesting one on this site). Good luck!

Hey! You can see the pictures if you go to the top of the website and click on "IMAGES". There is an album in there from "Erin" and I think it's titled "RIU Palace". Let me know if you can't find it.

Hello RIU Palace Brides! Thanks for starting this thread, I think we have a few others...I can't keep up
I am getting married RIU Palace Cabo Sat. May 11, 2013. 4 months!
Getting nervous that we may have over 50 guests, but hoping not more than 65. 25 booked right now
Kylene is my coordinater; I pretty much have all the info I need thanks to this site! I haven't really emailed her too much.
Colors: Coral, Ivory, Turquoise/Aqua
Hair: Suzanne Morel; Makeup: My cousin is a makeup artist
Photography: Gilda Badillo
Videographer: Jorge Ibarra
Wedding Attire: Done!
Save the Dates: Done! Did the boarding pass template through zazzle.com;
Invitations: Designs by MK--she will work with you on designs and is affordable. I found her through this site.
Still need to: Figure out music (DJ, playlist). And all the things you can't do until 2 months before(Flowers, reception site). We are looking at Baja Norte for the reception and doing a free welcome party in the Piano Bar on Thurs night. The rehearsal dinner will be a sunset cruise probably through Sunrider. (Cabo Mar was booked already). We have planned activities Thurs(Welcome drinks), Fri(Rehearsal), and Sat(wedding). That's it so guests can then enjoy their vacation too
I think that's it! Best of luck to all of those planning. I'm sure I will have more questions as we go!

Our story...
Dave and I met online when we were both freshly divorced (actually still separated, our divorces weren't final yet). We were both just looking for friendship, nothing even remotely similar to a relationship. After two weeks, he told me he loved me, and although I didn't say it back to him at the time, it was just a matter of months before we knew we wanted to be together forever. He met my children after we had dated for 2 years and our divorces were final. After another year, we moved in together - us, my four children, and his two girls. Talk about chaos!
I had always said that we didn't need marriage, that we were married in my mind. In the spring of 2012, his Dad became very ill with no explanation. He spent 9 months in ICU, and was not expected to make it out of heart surgery, and ended up losing both of his legs below the knee. During this 9 months, Dave stayed with his Mom who is legally blind, with brief visits home. To say it tested our relationship was an understatement, and when he finally moved back home, he planned a wonderful dinner. Over a bottle of wine, he proposed, and I cried. It took me a while to say yes, because I was just so floored. We had always said that if we got married, it would be a destination wedding.
A couple of weeks after he proposed, we decided to get married on Isla Mujeres in Mexico. We had visited the island many times before, with one being a week-long stay in the house shaped like a conch shell. We knew that we wanted just a handful of friends with us, and a courthouse ceremony with the kids right before we leave. When we get home, we'll have an AHR that his sister is dying to put together.
This is the house, called El Gran Escape on the south side of the island:
The ceremony will be just past the pool at the cliff. Here's hoping I don't fall off. 3 other couples are coming with us, we are paying for the week rental on the house, they are paying for their flights.
Here's my dress, shoes, and jewelry:
Dave is wearing a tan linen suit with a light blue dress shirt. We're still trying to find a dress that my MOH likes, and figuring out the best man's attire. The ceremony itself is being done by Sundreamers, with a simple setup on the cliff.
After our ceremony, we're hopping on our golf carts and having our wedding dinner at the Sunset Grill on Playa Norte. They'll set the tables with white table cloths right on the beach next to the water with tiki torches. The menu is:
Shrimp Cocktail
Beef Bordelaise with grilled shrimp
Potatoes Au Gratin
Steamed Asparagus
Open bar beer/wine
We have decided not to have a wedding cake since we won't have a way to bring home the top layer for our 1st anniversary, but may order dessert. We'll have a wedding cake at our AHR.
There's still so much to do, it seems. I need to order the items for the couples' gift bags. They're getting etched shot glasses, pool chair covers, cigars for the boys, barefoot jewelry for the girls, and personalized plastic cups for drinks at the pool.
For our courthouse ceremony, we'll have the kids with us, then head to a nice dinner with them afterwards. I'm trying to decide what to wear for the courthouse, Dave thinks it's silly that I'm bothering, but I'd like just a stylish short dress that will be ok in the early spring weather here. I'd like him to wear a suit, and the kids to look nice, as there will be pictures.
I'm waiting on my dress, I ordered from DHGate and really hope it's amazing. It is supposed to be here in about 2 weeks, and then if it needs any alterations, I'll take it to a local seamstress. Crossing my fingers I don't have to find another one!!
Congrats! We are doing our honeymoon in Isla (wedding in Cabo). I can't wait to go to Isla, I have heard wonderful things about it! Best of luck to you, and hoping you don't fall off the cliff! haha

Hi! I'm getting married at Riu Palace Cabo in May! When are your weddings? I emailed Kylene about sky lanterns (assuming these are the same as wish lanterns---the ones you light up and set off into the sky?) and she said they do NOT allow these. She didn't really give an explanation. Hope this helps. Happy Planning!
-
My wedding coordinator is Kylene...I guess its too soon to say whether she is good or bad since they really wont talk to you until 2 months before the wedding...that's why this forum is so helpful! I can email you the pricing info someone sent to me if you PM your email address to me...not sure if it will change by August or not....

Hi, does anyone have a pre-travel brouchure they did for Cabo? I can't open templates yet so haven't had much luck. Please PM me if you have one you can email me: [email protected]. Thanks so much!!

Hi All,
We are actually doing a dinner cruise through cabo mar. It's supposed to be a fun atmosphere with dancing, drinks and food. I've heard there is a whale watching excursion that is pretty cool. The guys are planning to do golfing and fishing as well.

This is tricky! Check out this link: http://dwbridesbio.weebly.com/dw-etiquette-qa.html
We are inviting everyone that is invited to the wedding, to the AHR. Basically, we are just keeping it simple with one list. If you are on it, you get invited to both If you aren't, you get invited to neither. lol. I didn't want to explain to anyone why they would be invited to one, but not the other. I could def. see if you had a really small destination wedding, then inviting more people to the AHR. I don't know, I think it totally depends on the couple, the budget, and the situation. Best of luck to you!!

Hi ReyDar! How was your wedding on 10/20?? We would love to hear the details when you have some free time! Congrats and I hope it was awesome!!!

Hello and welcome to the forum!! I am getting married in Cabo in May and also really went back and forth regarding photography. I will share with you who I looked at and ended up going with. The reason I struggled making a decision is because photography is based so much on personal preference. I haven't really read ANY bad reviews on here once someone used a photographer...how can that be? haha
Anyway, I ended up going with Gilda Badillo based on a few things:
1) Her work I have seen online and that she sent to me. Mostly I love the vibrant colors she uses and detail of her work. While I don't want a bunch of posed pictures, I also like a mix b/w photojournalistic and some of the more polished pictures (Ps, I am clearly no expert on photography!)
2) Customer service--She is extremely friendly and responsive. She was the one who recommeded and helped me book my videographer as well!
3) Price. Let's face it...I'm getting 7 hours of coverage (including a trash the dress the next day) for $2,000. Sounds too good to be true, but I have seen her work and read good reviews. I'm pretty sure that comes with the DVD's of all the pictures and option for the book, etc.
All of that being said, here were my other choices that are also well known on this site:
Juan Carlos Tapia-very responsive and has great reviews. No denying his work is beautiful
Dino Gomez-Also very responsive and great work.
Alec & T- I loved their work. They were already booked for my date
Dennis Berti
Manuel Burgion
Thomas Barron
Bradley Frazier-has a unique style
Best of luck to you on your search!
