  1. So true! "Just keep swimming" has basically been my work motto lately....Rough couple weeks.... Post! Post! Post!
  2. I don't know the name of it... I like Blue Curacao Malibu Coconut Rum Orange Juice & Pineapple Juice Any kind of mix that contains the following and I'm a happy camper.
  3. I still have a ways to go... And I've been here for about 9 months now. Wah! I guess I got discouraged a couple months back and took a mini hiatus. The site is crazy helpful though. I've never been too savvy in party planning.. so planning a wedding was a lot of guess work at first... but now I've gone as far as writing the ceremony script, building my OOT bags, doing iron-ons for my bridal party.... things I probably wouldn't have done without the site.... Keep on trekkin....
  4. I can definately relate to this. My family is HUGE. My FH's family is tiny (and older...) So even with inviting those that we did, it's like a 90/10 split between my family and his. My Mom told me how some of my great aunts (many, but one in particular) was excited to come to my wedding. I point blank said, "But she's not invited." My Mom got upset, but frankly, if you can't tell me what my FH's name is... you're not invited to my wedding. It's pretty simple. I invited some 2nd cousins, as my Mom grew up with them, and they're close... But I'm not about to invite 150+ people from my family, when my FH doesn't even have 25.... Anyway.... I totally get it.
  5. Oh Girl... lots of DW brides do it. I'm one of them. Ignore the rude comments. I've been referencing my civil ceremony at home as "paperwork"... it's just paperwork. I'm getting MARRIED in Jamaica in November.
  6. Same here. We keep refering to "June 7th" as "We're going in for paperwork." November 15th will be our anniversary day, and the day we really celebrate our marriage. Our parents and my brother know, as well as a close family friend we asked to "officially unofficially marry us." We dno't want to lie to our guests. If asked, I will probably tell them the truth. We just didn't want to run into any issues with marriage legalities and what not. We won't wear our wedding bands until November - I didn't even get his band engraved, so there's that extra surprise in November. I think a lot of us DW brides are on the same page on this topic. It's reassuring.
  7. I'm surprised so many people have has issues with Transat. I booked through Marlin Travel//Transat Holidays and got the Golden option. We reserved over a year in advance, and I haven't seen a price cheaper yet - not direct flight anyway. The times we got aren't fantastic, but they aren't awful. I get married the day before we leave, so the later flight actually works out great. We only get every 21st person free, which kind of sucks, but it's better then a kick in the pants. Is everyone quoting their prices before or after tax? Our price is $1075+Tax. Hopefully the resort isn't too packed in November. less then 6 months to go now. Crazy.
  8. Only 6 months to go today.... and only 1 month left til I should have all my RSVP's back... I guess I shouldn't hold my breathe, huh?
  9. Hey! The song really is perfect. I've been thinking maybe doing a split... Like 1/2way through the father daughter dance have the song change and do 1/2 the "Mama's Song".... I feel like my step-dad would not take offense to this at all. I have no idea what song to dance with him with though... he only "came around" when I was 18y/o... so I was never "Daddy's little girl"... and I feel like so many songs are about "growing up" and "in daddy's eyes" etc.... not really appropriate... Also, I don't know the first thing about "mixing" music... so I'm not sure how this will all work out.
  10. I've only been to a few (From Canada) 1. US 2. France 3. England 4. Spain And will sono be adding Jamaica (where I will be getting married) and Mexico (Where I will honeymoon immediately after.) Yea... 2 weeks of awesome.
  11. WOW! I am so glad this was brought up! I've been thinking of a Mother-Daughter dance, as my mother has been my only parental figure for most of my life. And Every time I hear "Mama's song" by Carrie Underwood, I think of how perfect it would be. My younger brother is walking me down the aisle.... as I asked him to when I was like 12y/o. So I thought a mother/daughter dance would be nice for my mom. (My step dad and I are "close"... but not huggy-close... or "dance with each other with everyone watching" close....) Anyways - I wasn't sure if a Mother/Daughter dance would be weird....? You never hear of it.... and you don't often hear of two women dancing together (I mean, without getting into a gay-marriage debate or anthing... Love is Love... But I mean... you know what I mean....)
  12. Really? I'm surprised. We ordered 35 invites total (and have a couple extra) But we picked them up. She had told me about shipping invites to someone out west... but maybe it was for a larger amount? Sorry about that....
  13. We've asked a family friend to do it. He's one of those really personaable, entertaining kind of guys... Can really command a room. He was my step-dad's Best Man and MC, so we thought it would be great to ask him to perform our ceremony. First time I've ever seen him speechless. We also wrote our script, so he can prepare ahead of time.
  14. Hi, I actually found the company at a wedding show, so I'm not sure what's on her gallery. I should go look. I believe a couple she showed me in person made it online... I was almost to the point of making them myself when I came across the company, so I already knew exactly what I wanted.... so my text in the invite was the same. She helped with details and such.
  15. Hey MrsShorey, I got passport invites made, as the company I found was easy to work with and cost effective. I live in Ottawa, and she was local, but she showed me examples of invites she made for brides all over. The company is "You've Been Posted." I was very lpeased with the final product and the price could not be argued with.
  16. Hi, My mom is also throwing my bridal shower. I haven't been told, but I think it will be about 3 months before the wedding. Because it's destination, I think most things get to go out earlier.... like invitations to the wedding itself.... I'm not 100% sure, but I think that what's happening for me.
  17. I've been on the hunt for sample packs of Tylenol, and really, no luck at all. I'm in Ottawa. I'm also looking for Off-Wipes, as I've heard of so many brides who have put these in their OOT's... I can't find those at all either. I'm thinking of taking a trip to the US in August for anything more I still need. I bought little rolls of tums from Shoppers. 3 rolls in a pack, 12 tums in a roll for $2.50. Less then a buck each, can't complain.
  18. That is ADORABLE!! And my name's Melissa, and I love panties... Too cute.
  19. Congrats and Welcome! Go to a travel agent and ask for some of their destination books. You have time to browse...
  20. Congrats! I don't think I'll make it before my wedding.
  21. Hello - I can email it to you. PM me your email if you'd like. -Melissa
