Ha ha ha. For sure. It's going to be hard to top my first A-I, since I'll always compare to getting married. Hahaha.

Flower Girl Dresses
MelB2012 replied to Christine's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Those are sooo cute. My favorite is the 3 flowers dress. I tried really hard to convince my Mom and Aunt to get a tutu-dress for my flower girl (Aunt's daughter.) But they refused. I love it and think it's perfect for a beach wedding. We ended up finding a sweet little dress with a few tulle layers... I had to compromised, but I like the dress. -
What have I learned from planning a destination wedding?

I agree with avoiding the added stress. My bridal party is simple. I have my MOH, my best friend in my hometown, my 1 Bridesmaid whom I've known for about 8 years in Calgary. That's it. My step-dad was my FH's high school teacher. So they've known each other for over 15 years. He's the best man. And my brother is the groomsmen. Haha. None of my FH's friends are going to come, so it works out. -
Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

I've tried my dress on and it fits great. I just need to get it hemmed a bit, and maybe shorten the train some. I go to get that done on Aug 24th. So excited. I lov emy dress. No dress-remorse at ALL! -
126! C'mon! You can get there! Hahaha. One more week and you'll be ready to go, for sure!

SO excited! 97 days until the wedding celebration! And only 91 days until we leave! My first official dress fitting is Aug 24th. They've also provided a sample for the veil they are going to make for me. Can't wait!

So close, and yet still feels so far away. Posts AND the wedding., Haha. Runaway Bay Jamaica. The Gran Bahia Principe. I loved their wedding gazebo when I saw it, and the resort offers many aspects I require for my group. I've never seen further south than Florida, so I'm excited.

Show us your wedding dress!
MelB2012 replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I probably tried on around 20-25 dresses on two different outtings. I found the dress on the second outting. I'm not really a crier, except for when I actually see weddings. But I started crying before I was even tied up. I felt silly, but I just knew it was my dress. It was a bit too small, but I could see exactly how it would fit, loved the bodice, had a simple a-line skirt. I just felt like a bride, and not a girl in a pretty dress. like some other girls said, you'll eventually start comparing new dresses to a dress that stands out for you. Nothing will top it. And you'll know. -

Wow. I have choice words for girls like that. -
Hi Claudia, Read as much as you can, and tr to hold off on buying anything unless it's an absolute must,. This site will give you plenty ideas, more then you could incorporate into one wedding and you may change your mind a few times based on what you see here. Have fun with planning.

Agreed. I read so much, by the time I get to the end, I don't feel like there's anything left to contribute. I don't like posts that say nothing... like "Cool!" If I don't like seeing them, I won't write them.....

Yea, I through a facebook post for it... but nothing came of it. We've been going to thrift shops trying to find one. I found one that would have been great, except for the giant hole in one of the corner. Good have stuck my hand right in.... surprised they can put that on their floor. Keep looking.... We'll have had an 18 month engagement. So I'm excited to be in the home stretch.

Runaway Bay, Jamaica. November 15th, 2013. We leave in 94 days... not that I'm counting or anything. Still lots of little things to figure out. I need to make a seating chart for the W/C, and dress fittings, and music requests.... and finding an old suitcase.... Arggh.... there's tons.
-
33 posts to go. When/Where are you getting married? 100 days today and I'll be hitched. 94 days until we leave!!
-
The first 100 took me about a year. I really need to take pictures of my projects and post those.... that should boost my numbers.... It's just getting around to actually taking the pictures!! I feel like I'm close now and yet.... still so far away. The only template I think I need now is Survival kit toppers.

Well, we got a confirmed "No." on Sunday from on eof the couples that were on the fence. At least, I'm taking it as a no, and planning as such. And I just noticed we're at 500 pages! Holy cow! and only 100 days until i get married! Madness! -

I still have slow RSVP's and less then 100 days til departure. I have a long time friend of my finance's and his wife who have not yet confirmed yes or no? I keep getting "We really want to come." Not even a "But" to signify it's a no. We'd like them to come, but it would be nice to know... . And then my fiance's godparents returned their RSVP and indicated "Maybe", and then wrote a handwritten letter as to why. It was sweet. His godmother is not well (health-wise) and they want to come, but it depends on how she's doing in upcoming months. They live in the states, so they would book with their own travel agent. There were also a good chunk of RSVP's a mailed out, got nothing back, and they didn't book. I'm just assuming they are not coming. I'm still trying to find a second hand, cheap suitcase I can use to transport my wedding goods, and then I plan on leaving the suitcase there. Although I keep seeing beautiful new suitcases I wanna buy. Hahaha. -

100 days and I will be leaving on a jet plane to Jamaica!!! AHHHHHHH Can't wait. Still a ton to do, but I've accomplished quite a bit in the last month. I'm pleased with progress. I think I should try to start packing the wedding stuff. What I CAN anyway..... Did anyone else start packing? -

I hit another snag this weekend.... this one was my fault. I ordered my canvas bags through vistaprint because they were having a sale, and I saved I think 50%, so I quickly put them together and ordered. I know, silly me. Turns our I wrote my DATE wrong!??!? How? How!? Foolishness. 11.13.15, instead of 11.15.13. There wasn't much I could do to justify not reordering them. This time, I took time, fixed up my logo, and still got 50% off. And I only ordered what I needed +2 bags (for stragglers.) Since I know have my final guest list.... It was easier. Oh well. Only about $100-unplanned dollars spent. Oh well. Also, I grabbed some sarongs (instead of pashmina's) for the ladies' for my OOT bags. $12 at bikini village. -Melissa -
Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica - November 2013
MelB2012 replied to MelB2012's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
It is exciting!! A little over 3 months to go sounds crazy!! I'm going to a couple trunks shows tomorrow on a veil hunt. I'm trying NOT to pay full price... but I know which one I want. I'm on a mission!! And then it's dress fittings time. I just have to hem my train and maybe an inch off the front of my skirt. and cut most of the corset-panel out. Otherwise it fits like a glove. I still have to write my vows, and a thank you speech. Finish my guest book (which I made, and it came in 2 days ago. I did a photobook. So cute!) And I have to work on music... I'm not sure what else I have to do. Oh! and assemble bits of my OOT bags..... I'm planning on doing a catamaran trip on Wednesday Nov 13th. I was going to book it in advance, but after getting quotes, I'm thinking of just getting everyone together and booking through the resort. I don't think there is going to be much of a price difference, and saving me the hassle will probably be worth it. Maybe we should have a few brides get together and fill the catamaran!! That could be fun!? -Mel -
Hi Girls! With most brides now planning 2014 weddings, I thought it would be fun to open a thread specifically for us going to GBPJ in November 2013! Who is going when? It's always great to talk to other brides planning around the same time as you... we can bounce ideas off each other, and maybe even meet the week of our weddings! I've already virtually "met" one bride getting married the day before me! I will be at GBPJ Nov 9-16th. Any one else?
