Secrets St James/Wild Orchid Weddings 2012/2013

BTW have any of you received any information about decor for the wedding and reception? I'm sure it will be an additional price but when I received my initial packet of information there was nothing included about decor pricing. -

Hey ladies...I found this link while doing some more reserch on Secrets WO http://kimchapmannews.com/michelle-and-kevin-secrets-montego-bay-jamaica-april-20-2011/ It gives you a little bit of a feel for the wedding area if your getting married on the beach. Some of the pictures you have to look closely at but you can get a general idea. I'm a noob on this site so I may not be able to post links yet. in case the link doesn't show when I submit my message I'll type it out: http://kimchapmannews.com/michelle-and-keven-secrets-montego-bay-jamaica-april-20-2011/ -

Thank You! I will be more than happy to share...I'm still doing research on pics and reviews but my TA quoted me a price of $1166.98 total for two. I'm going in the off season (September) so the prices are almost half of what they are in the high season. Also for those of you not using a TA, check with Delta Flexable getaways as they have some good traveling packages that include air and hotel. I was hoping to hear from some of the Brides that have already had their wedding at WO or SJ but I'll continue to see what I can dig up as far as pics. I'll post some good and bad reviews as well as I find them. Happy Planning Ladies!!! -
Everything is going well considering...I'm still in the early stages so I'm hoping the entire process is this smooth. I had to switch resorts from Iberostar Rose Hall to Secrets Wild Orchid. I felt like Iberostar was robbing me. You don't get a lot for the money they charge you. Thankfully it was still early enough for me to do switch. I'm still a little nervous because I haven't seen much on this site about secrets. I only found two forums and one was started in 2010 by a bride who never updated the forum with any pics or information about the resort. The other forum is new brides planning to go just like me. I won't be able to do a site visit so I hope everything works out for the best. @CriCri - I'm not that familiar with the secrets chain and their website has very minimal pictures and pricing. How was your wedding? Thanks for the feedback ladies!!! I decided to go with the third one but I'm going to use the others on my welcome packet pages and other literature.

For instance, my monograms that I created are in Powerpoint. I saved the each monogram as a JPEG on a seperate slide. Once I go back to Word to insert them onto the template, I noticed that unless I'm inserting it into a text box that I have to create, the image is all over the place. I removed the bird on the front cover of the template to replace it with a monogram I made and it worked after I made a textbox to place the mongram in. I created a background to use, just like the one that comes with Aylee's decorated template but it's very hard formatting it (making it a washout). I'm going to attempt to use the front cover of the template and create my own inner pages if I can't get it to work

Hi Ladies! I recently switched from Iberostar Rose Hall...felt like I was being robbed. Not enough for the money they were charging me. Anyway, I just switched with my travel agent yesterday. I'm a little nervous because I can't really find anything about weddings at this resort. Any pictures or personal reviews would be greatly appreciated!!! Also any info my travel agent finds I will be more than happy to share! -
Calling all DIY Brides!!! Hello all! This is my first DIY project of this nature as I am trying to save money but I'm struggling. I don't want to scrap my project over a small formatting technicality. I'm using Aylee's free passport template for my save the dates. I didn't want to get the pre-decorated one because I have a few of my own ideas I want to incorporate into the pages of the passport. I know this isn't a new topic on these boards but I am new to the site. I've done some research and got some great ideas from this site but now that I have gathered all of my info and ready to add it to the template, I have hit a wall! I created some really cool monograms and background images, such as visa stamps and swirl designs, in powerpoint but I am having the hardest time adding them to the template. I'm saving my slides in powerpoint as PNG and JPEG and using the copy/paste function to get them to the template but after they transfer, I am unable to formate them. Next I tried formatting them before I saved them in Powerpoint but Word and Powerpoint don't support the same formatting functions. Bottom line, I need help! LOL Is there anyway I can save the template in powerpoint (which may be confusing considering powerpoint is slides and word is pages) or save the template as any other format that will allow me to munipulate it more? I thought I was pretty good at Word and Powerpoint, until now! LOL. Please Help!

Okay ladies...I hot another snag...I created some cute swirls and trees in powerpoint to use on my passport save the dates. I'm using Aylee's template but getting them from Powerpoint to the template is a challenge. I saved them as PNG and JPEG and put them into a seperate folder. But when I get them to the template I'm unable to format them to send them behind the text. The template is mostly textboxes and I removed the shape fills and shape outlines from all of the boxes but unable to get my images in the background. Can anyone help with this?

This is actually a good question...I would like to know also!

My wedding date isn't until September 2013 but I am still really nervous. I heard this resort is beautiful but I'm concerned about some of the bride's experiences with Janielle and their wedding planning. I'm really glad I started my research earlier to possibly prevent a few things from happening. I'm sad to hear that a few of you all were put in some pretty tough positions either the day before or the day of your wedding! It sounds like everything turned out okay though. I'm just going to take on the attitude that we all will have our own experiences and I'm going to try and have a plan B and possibly a plan C for everything! But I truly appreciate you all sharing your experiences with the rest of the upcoming brides to give us time to plan and prepare. I also saw on another site that building 6 is undergoing some renovations. They have replaced all of the carpet and are in the process of painting and adding more decor. Can anyone else confirm this???

Here are some of the first one's I made...tell me what you think...

Hello All! I started creating Monograms in Powerpoint last week for my passport save the dates. I created each monogram on a seperate slide. I tried to group all of my objects together to use them on other documents but the option is grayed out. Does anyone know how I can group all of the objects in each slide to copy them to my passport and invitations??? Any help is appreciated.

Great job!!!!!! Started my passport save the dates last week. Using the Aylee template but didn't opt for the decorated one. Started playing around with Powerpoint and Photoshop elements, since I have a little bit of time, and I'm learning more and more about backgrounds. I'm mostly doing my experimenting in Photoshop. It's all in the Font and Placement! Your passport definitely gave me some more ideas! Thanks for sharing!!!

My husband and I are planning to renew our vows for our third year anniversary (2013) at Iberostar Grand Rose Hall in Jamaica. With the help of this site I've gotten some helpful tips and information about the resort and also some inspiration for my DIY save the dates and invitations. I've even created 8 different monograms in Powerpoint of all things...something I never even thought about doing until I visited this site. I have Photoshop elements but I'm not aware of all of it's features. One day I'll sit down and give it a test drive. I've decided to use more than just one of the monograms I created as I love almost all of them! Who said you had to have just one idea floating around your wedding. LOL! I'll upload some of my favorite monograms and logos as soon as I figure out how to upload on this site. LOL. Shout out to all the ladies on this site who unselfishly answer questions and share their ideas with the world!

Okay ladies, I need a little feedback. I am having a renewal of vows ceremony in 2013 with, so far, 20 guest invited. I do plan on sending out "save the date" flyers with RSVPs attached. Through all of the threads and post I've read on multiple websites, a lot of brides wern't expecting the amount of responses they got from wedding invites and this can be a nightmare since you aren't allowed to change your package once it's finalized. I won't send Janielle my final plans until I receive all of those back. Anyway, has anyone had a semi/private reception at any of the restaurants yet? Just wanted to know about the experience if I don't add to my guest list. I'm trying to soak up any info I can before I make my final decisions...but honestly if I read another string of post or threads this week my eyes are gonna pop outta my head! LOL! Oh yeah, I read a few things about Iberostar not giving anything free. I did read on another thread, I think it was tripadvisory...but don't quote me on that, that you can get group rates depending on how many rooms you book through your travel agent. I also read that the good free stuff, such as free cocktail hour and additional spa and makeup credit, is only given out to the people that are paying for 50 or more guest! LOL!

Nevermind DeAngelis2be I was able to click on the updated pics located in this thread. You're pics are beautiful!!!

Hello! I'm new to the site, just jointed today. Planning a wedding for 2013. Doing it on my own so far but will be going with an agent for the room and coctail hour perks. Love this resort...a little nervous about how the prices can add up though. And was told by Janielle that once your package is booked there are no changes allowed...that also made me a little nervous. I've been on Trip Advisor and this site for the last two weeks trying to soak up any tips and information I can. I tried to click on the links for your photos but I'm getting a "timed out" message. Has the link expired or did you repost them anywhere?
