Welcome! We aren't doing an outside reception but I've heard from many brides that the breeze from the ocean helps out a lot, so hopefully that helps calm your worries a little bit. For your OOT bags you should really check out the dollar store, you'd be surprised how much great stuff you can find there. Also, read the threads from other brides about what people liked and didn't like in their bags. Some things I thought people would like I've read that they didn't like. From the dollar store I picked up boxes of water flavors (the things you pour in water bottles) because there are a couple people coming with us who don't drink. Plus it encourages people to stay somewhat hydrated I bought all of my OOT bags from the dollar store that are fairly nice totes. I actually bought WAY too many and will probably sell them on the boards here once I eventually get around to it. Be sure to check that board as well, lots of great items for sale!

Yes it is in October, and I can't say enough how excited I am that you posted that idea!!! PS I love the Rolex you bought for your FI's wedding gift! I bought mine a really nice Citizen for his bday two years ago and I thought he was going to kill me! But he loved it, and still loves it so it was worth every penny. I'm pretty sure if I bought him a Rolex he would never wear it, I had to convince him it was okay to wear the one I did get him because he was so afraid of anything happening to it.

Sent you a PM! Thanks! -
Ok, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner a lot of crazy stuff has been happening. I would actually be interested in about 10 of the sashes and no napkins. My zip code is 96130 if they are still available!

Have you considered a designer remake? I ordered my dress from an online site in china (scary I know, but I did a lot of research) the website is dressilyme.com, you can send them a picture of the dress you want and within a couple days they will send you a quote of how much it would cost to have it made. you can then pay extra to expedite, I should have my dress here in a couple weeks so I can't say for sure about the quality but I never heard any bad reviews either. Just a suggestion, hope that helps!

Hey Ladies! I am having my flowers done by Marvin and I am super excited! He is doing 2 bouqets, 3 boutenneires, and 2 corsages for $430. That is much much cheaper than what the resort quoted and the flowers are much nicer. I heard the resort flowers have a tendency to just fall apart. I tried contacting Cherry Blossoms for a price quote but to this day I have never received a response, so I didn't really have a choice but to go with Marvin. I would have liked to price compare with another florist first, but I'm still happy with my choice!

Beach Wedding pics and ideas
mae1564 replied to CamLovesJA's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Hi Matt, I have a question for you! We are getting married at 3:30 on the beach in Playa del Carmen, I moved it to that time to avoid a $400 evening fee that starts at 4pm. Is it a bad idea to have the wedding at that time? Our wedding would have been at 5pm if I hadn't moved it, is the hour and a half going to make that much difference? I asked my TA and she said the weather wouldn't be too bad, but now I'm second guessing myself. Any advice would be great! Thanks! -
Actually, you probably don't need to send it to me. It sounds like you are doing more of just a slide show, I'm kinda trying to create a storyline to follow. I've come up with a few ideas like I'm trying to find parallels between the sports he played growing up and the sports I played. Trying to find camping pictures and fishing pictures, just things I know we both did so when there is a picture of him fishing as a kid there will be one of me also. The hardest part is really going to be gathering all the pictures together from our parents.

Would you be willing to let me see your slideshow for ideas? If not it's okay, I've seen them before its just been a looooong time. 94 guests? Wow, that is so awesome that many people are coming with you! We have 9 I was thinking today of showing pictures of me with my MOH and him with his BM as we are growing up. The only other people coming with us are parents and an aunt and uncle, so it won't be too hard to incorporate pictures of everyone. My email is mae1564 at hotmail if you don't want to post it anywhere on here, thanks!

I just came across this thread, and I wish I would have found it earlier! So many of what you are saying is exactly what we went through. I felt hurt and ignored for at least a week when people just started avoiding us (or so it seemed to me at least). Our guest list of "absolute yes" went from 60+ to where it is now, 9. We gave everyone two years advance notice. Two years ago we picked the resort, the travel agent, and the date in hopes that giving that much advance notice would make it possible for our friends and family to make it work. It didn't work, although I'm glad we did it that way because I know that there was really nothing more we could have done to make it easier for people. With our travel agent, all that was required was a $75 deposit to make your reservation. From there you could pay as much or as little as you wanted as long as it was paid in full 30 days prior to departure. We have friends and family we know could afford it, and know have the time to make it. It was their decision to not make it work, and there is nothing we could have done. My father won't be there, and none of my siblings will be there. The only one that hurts is my dad (I understand my siblings reasons and they are valid). I know my dads finances and he is an avid traveler, and the fact that he didn't make time for me still stings a little. My MOH had every excuse in the world to not make it, but she made it work and will be by my side. She has shown me what a true friend really is. In the end, we need to see the glass half full right? So, because my guest list has diminished drastically we will be showing the people who do come the time of their lives! We can afford the best of everything now, we will be paying for all the guys to have a guys day of deep sea fishing and all the girls will be at the spa. We are having the best flowers, an amazing dinner and so on. So there it is, my glass is half full! Also, I know who my true friends are and I know who I will always be able to count on. It is sad and gratifying at the same time.

Hey Ladies, I'm looking for some ideas and need help! Since we are doing our reception at an outside restaurant (Wickys) and it will be more of a dinner than a reception, I was thinking of doing a slideshow/video for our guests. I was thinking of starting with baby pictures of us and show us growing up to the time we met. I don't really know where to start and would love any ideas you want to share!

So sorry to hear that you are going through this so close to the wedding date! I went through this with my sister, although luckily for me we had these conversations early on instead of last minute. Our siblings sound so oddly familiar! I hope for you that once you get there you will just be able to relax and enjoy the time you have with everyone.

Hi Ladies! My wedding/ vow renewal is in 4 months and I need to lose some weight! The wedding is on October 19 and I started Atkins a couple of weeks ago. I completely ruined my diet last week (don't think there was even one day I stayed on track) so tomorrow I'm starting over, and I'm wanting to start waking up early to work out. My absolute dream goal would be to lose 50lbs which would put me back to where I was when I met my husband. My realistic goal is to lose 20lbs, if I could do that then I could fit in to the clothes I was wearing last summer. I was a size 6-8 when I met husband, now I'm a size 14 which I'm not okay with. I would love to have some support and other people to help keep me accountable!

When you did this upgrade, what room were you already booked for? I just asked my TA and she said it would be an extra $2,550 for the master suite, and an extra $4,500 for the presidential? I would love to upgrade the room and have the free wedding especially since I feel like I would be getting more out of it than paying $600 for a minister, but at those prices I'm thinking maybe not.

I've heard great things about the Royal, and love to hear perspectives from people who were guests. I've heard the Asian restaurant is really good, just hoping we have time to sample a little of everything. I keep hearing from brides that the week turns into a whirlwind so I'm hoping to remind myself to just slow down while I'm there, lol!
