  1. many photographers such as myself offer great discounts built into the package rather than having you straight out pay for all travel fees plus additional full cost of a package. I always customize packages so basically travel is complimentary http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  2. I am a destination photographer, and in my experience, couples have not had to pay an additional outside vendor fee since I am always considered a guest at their wedding since I am a paying guest at their resort. Obviously with me having to stay a few nights, they are making more money by me being a guest than paying an outside vendor fee Sandals are usually pretty cooperative, just speak with a wedding coordinator too, who can get it waived for you http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  3. i was in LOVE with this destination wedding where the bride chose three bright colors to use throughout! and orange and fuchsia, ah you can't go wrong!! http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  4. congrats on making the plans! Iberostar has some of the nicest resorts on the islands! And Jamaica is amazing! I went there for our honeymoon And in April, you should have beautiful weather! http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  5. it is never too soon to plan! especially for your guests saving money, or yourselves. and also if you are considering booking a photographer, we book out over a year in advance! so I wish there were more early planners like you! http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  6. from the viewpoint of a photographer, a TTD is amazing because there are no limitations to taking amazing photos of you. If you are a little weary on the idea of ruining your dress (which doesn't necessarily need to be permanent but getting wet, dirty, etc) you can still do a day after session for my relaxed private intimate photos without the stress of a wedding day and pressure of guests lingering. It's a nice time to just simply enjoy being with your new spouse! And for a photographer, it's the perfect time to really get all those must-have shots you may not have been able to get the day before due to all those factors! PLUS, if you're ceremony is at the hottest of the hot times of day (which I have dealt with) you have the luxury of choosing the coolest time, either sunrise or sunset for your photos, and all the freedom is yours, possibilities are endless!! http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  7. as far as the outside vendor pricing goes, if the photographer is a paying guest at the hotel then there should not be a fee. it's as if they would be charging you for your friend to take your photos. Since I am a destination wedding photographer, I have never witnessed a couple needing to pay the fee because I am always staying at their resort (which isn't cheap!) One time, a couple straight out told their resort they would not use their resort photographer and are hiring their own, and the wedding coordinator was able to pull the fee
  8. please use a travel agent! I use Julie from Vacations to Remember for all of my destination weddings and so do my couples! You are guaranteed the lowest price www.KristinLaVoiePhotography.com
