  1. it is definitely normal to bring a US photographer, since they have tons of experience and beautiful work you love. I am always inspired by new locations and that way I can always stay fresh and unique! However not all photographers will do destinations since it is entirely different. Just got my last destination wedding on style me pretty ! http://www.stylemepretty.com/destination-weddings/2012/06/05/dominican-republic-wedding-at-iberostar-grand-hotel-bavaro-by-kristin-la-voie-photography/
  2. as a photographer, it is in my contract to receive a meal if working more than 7 hours, and even if not working 7 hours, it is a good gesture since they will be working and sweating their butts off. if you were working all day (in the sun and heat) I'm sure you would need and expect to sit down for a break and have a meal. So many times people forget that the photographers are people too!
  3. Congrats!! Iberostar is one of the top chains of resorts, I was recently shooting at the Grand Hotel Bavaro, and it was amaaazing http://www.stylemepretty.com/destination-weddings/2012/06/05/dominican-republic-wedding-at-iberostar-grand-hotel-bavaro-by-kristin-la-voie-photography/
  4. hi ladies! From my perspective as a photographer (and having planned my own destination wedding and hiring 3 photographers lol) I would certainly agree photos are the most important and if you must resort to a hotel photographer, to do your research.. :-/ And don't worry about paying for an outside photographer with additional expenses on top of it all, since some like myself, will include all of that in your package. Also, since I am always a paying a guest at whatever resort my couples choose, they have not had to deal with paying additional outside vendor fees (they are making more money by having me as a guest anyway!) My most recent destination wedding from last month in Punta Cana just made it up on Style Me Pretty, so check it out http://www.stylemepretty.com/destination-weddings/2012/06/05/dominican-republic-wedding-at-iberostar-grand-hotel-bavaro-by-kristin-la-voie-photography/
  5. welcome and good luck planning! It is a lot of fun but can be overwhelming, but luckily these forums are great! You can get help in every aspect, from choosing location/hotel, photographer, and ideas for the whole shebang! http://www.stylemepretty.com/destination-weddings/2012/06/05/dominican-republic-wedding-at-iberostar-grand-hotel-bavaro-by-kristin-la-voie-photography/

  7. EXCELLENCE IS MY FAVORITE TO SHOOT AT! http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  8. I am a destination wedding photographer, and with my couples, I always do a sneak peek the same weekend, and a highlights video a few days after the wedding, and they receive all their images within a month you should never have to wait any longer! I'm too antsy to get to work on it, and I know couples are antsy to see them!! http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  9. I got married in Vegas last August and am also a destination wedding photographer and I treated Vegas as a straight up destination which it was!!! so amazing!!! We did a full out ceremony (by full out it was still only max 10 min-- but personalized the way we wanted) in the Juno Garden at Caesars, followed by photos, and reception in the Florentine Ballroom http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  10. it is most common for my couples to opt for a standard full day, 8 hours. given the time to get ready, ceremony, photos in between, and whatever reception or cocktail hour you choose, 8 hours can go quick It is also common to do a day after or TTD session, which is AMAZING!!! http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  11. be cautious when working with resort photographers I cannot speak badly about other photogs, however, it is common that the photos resulting from the resort staff are very "typical" http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
