  1. Congrats!! I think it Might be fav resort photographed at thus far wonderful staff and beaaaautiful weddings http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  2. omgosh Sandals St Lucia looks FABULOUS! my hubby and I were thinking of doing that for our 1 year anniversary since we honeymooned in Sandals Negril and had an amazing time, but we decided to wait until a 5 year or something later since it's a super busy wedding year for me I too have witnessed several pushier Sandals photographers. They mean well. But as a photographer, I will tend to critique more and it was not my cup of tea. I'm very photojournalistic, I like to document the moments from the tiniest details to the big hoorahs and they seemed to be pushier with stuffier posing, etc. Definitely for the more traditionalist I'd say
  3. ahh FL weddings = GORGEOUS! A tropical destination without going through customs and immigration
  4. Julie from Vacations to Remember http://www.VacationsToRemember.com/ is awesome! She has actually helped two of my brides find their resort for what they wanted and educated them on it
  5. i have requests to photoshop out people gawking in the background, but I think it can add a really interesting and comical element, so I have even focused on some gawkers watching the ceremony in their speedos and bathing suits, that is where they are getting married after all so it's a funny moment to capture
  6. Here's what I read: "You would think that a flight, room, and small cash settlement would mean a free vacation to any photographer" "it would be a good idea to highlight the quality and commitment rather than harp on how tedious and demanding destination weddings can be." "You all make it seem like an all inclusive photography labor camp... that pays a few grand of course." "your comments were rather unprofessional" So I did take it negatively. Seemed as if to come across that way anyway. I do truly wish you the best with your planning, the wedding, and your photo career! I had my honeymoon at the Sandals in Negril and it was the best time of our lives! With the exception of our wedding of course (which was Vegas baby! -- turned into a destination full out wedding - no elvis or cher impersonators here lol think elegant garden wedding amidst crazy fun) So i have no doubt once you get it all figured out you will have the best time of your life as well! good luck!
  7. check out this color combo! loved it! http://www.kristinlavoiephotography.com/blog/2012/02/bestof2011/
  8. wow Damon as a professional photographer you sure are being rude to others in your field, I'm hoping you are not trying to come off that way but it's the only way I can read it The only reason we were saying it was a lot of work was because you said it was a vacation, merely to defend our field. Of course we love what we do! But since you are a seasoned pro, you should also know how much work goes into it. I also don't know who you've been talking to that is making this so frustrating for you and making you feel helpless. it should be enjoyable to plan the wedding! And if you don't want to pay additional for flying out a photographer, there are other photographers on every island, and at every resort many of your comments I found very rude and would never speak that way to someone else in "our" field. I am passionate about what I do, I eat sleep and breathe it. I do not want to put down my camera and party and relax at a destination wedding. at all times you should be professional with your personable -and- business face on. That being said, I enjoy what I do and hence enjoy shooting and working the weddings. that's where enjoyment is found. I also had a destination wedding. I knew about all things my clients go through, But I also never wanted to disrespect the work of my vendors. I am always able to wear both the "businessperson" and "consumer" hat. We're not here to make an easy buck. We're here to help others planning destination weddings like we did. And you get what you pay for. don't mean to rant, but I am an honest person and felt very offended. best of luck to you with planning
  9. last week's wedding actually made their own chair sashes! they bought the satin ribbon material and decided to make them themselves rather than spend $5/chair
