Oh wow, I didn't realize that they were so pricey. Just saw that I liked all of the dresses that have been posted. I have always had expensive taste lol. I don't want my girls to have to pay over $100 for their dresses since they are already paying so much to be at my wedding. Any ideas on good places to find nice dresses for a good price?

My FI also proposed on our 4 year anniversary, but due to scheduling conflicts at work, we have to have the wedding a couple months after our 5 year anniversary. I can't wait. I'm jealous that you have already been to the resort for your wedding. I would probably feel so much better about our choice if I had visited there prior to the wedding. But we have heard several great reviews from friends and people on this forum so it helps to ease the nerves.

These are all looking so great. I am getting so many ideas. I just hope I remember them all when it comes time to make them. I think it is an excellent way of letting the girls know you appreciate them taking part in your special day. It is an honor to be a BM, so I am sure these hangers will get a lot of use even after the wedding.

I have got to check out Dessy. I keep seeing comments posted about them and I have loved all of the photos so far. I still can't even decide between long and short. I am leaning more towards short, because my wedding is in August in Punta Cana. I think it will be hot enough just being in clothes. I can't imagine all of my bridesmaids leaving me a month before my wedding. How devastating! And on the note of BMs looking ugly in their dresses...that is my biggest fear. I want them all to feel beautiful yet I do not know of a neckline that flatters all shapes and sizes. I like the idea of the same designer but different styles. Then they will like their dresses and maybe they will all end up with the same one too!

I have never been to the Dominican, but I have heard that it is beautiful and the people are very friendly. I do think the prices are going up because it is becoming more of a vacation hot spot. I got a really good deal with Majestic Colonial for August next year. The flights really are the hardest part. Most of my family only has one airport option as well. If we want to fly out of anywhere but Philly, it becomes at least $100 more. My FI's sister may be moving to Japan next year due to her husband being in the military. Those ticket prices are between one and two thousand. But that is on the opposite side of the world. I can't believe Canada is equally as expensive.

I am slowly but surely getting to 150, and I too do not believe in paying for anything I can get for free. Jolene, that is a good idea about the dress shopping. Bring a few, pick your faves and then take the crowd. I have watched way too many episodes of Say Yes to the Dress, and see so many girls getting discouraged by their friends and family. If I say I love the dress, I do not need someone telling me it looks hideous. I am mainly bringing people for support and to share in the excitement. Not really for their opinion. I will make up my own mind.

I am glad that I am not the only one who is not completely on top of it with regards to my to-do list. I have booked the resort, picked a date, booked photo/videographer, and a few other minor details. But I still have OOT bags, decorations, bridesmaids dresses, my gown, invitations...ugh so much to do. I keep telling myself that I have plenty of time. But I think if I want to do a lot of DIY projects, I may need that time. At least STDs have been sent.

I am sure that I will be a mess when I try on my first wedding gown. I made it my goal to never wear a white gown for a pageant so that when I try one on for my wedding, it will really mean something. I am going to try and have all four bridesmaids and my mom come with me at least for the first trip. I don't know if it is better to have more people there or less. I am also nervous because my wedding is so far away. I do not want to pick a gown and then find out that I like another one more. Our flights to Punta Cana were more than we expected they would be. Most of our guests will be paying $100 over what we figured it would be based on this year's rates. One thing that I wish is that Southwest would start flying to Punta Cana. Nothing like telling your guests to pay more for the flight, then have them paying at least $100 in baggage fees.

Sometimes I feel that it is harder picking out the bridesmaids dresses than finding my own dress. I keep looking at colors and styles and comparing them to the various size of my bridesmaids...ugh it is all so complicated. But this dress was a good find. I love dresses with pockets!!! Your girls could keep some tissues in them

Haha, MissBubbles, I do the same thing. Gotta multitask or else I would never have enough time for everything. If I have some down time I work, I see no reason why I cannot be productive in other part of my life.

I cannot wait to start trying on dresses! When I first got engaged it was not necessarily on the top of my to do list. But the more I am doing to prepare for the wedding, the more excited I am to find THE dress. I love seeing pics of everyone's dresses. Helps me see different styles and what I might like. casontag, do you have a pic of your dress?

Yeah, I feel that there are so many other places that you might as well go to if they are going to charge you $1900. The Caribbean is supposed to be an inexpensive but nice place to go. If it is going to be super expensive, I feel there are several nice places to travel to. I would definitely get a second quote from another TA.

I cannot wait to try this! I think it is the cutest idea. I am by no means an artsy person, but I am hoping it is as easy as everyone keeps saying that it is...with practice of course.

What a cute idea! I never thought of door hangers. But that would be a cute touch to add to the welcome bags without breaking the bank more than I already feel I have!

Wow that is a gorgeous set! I have a solitaire as well and did not want any diamonds on the side. Those types of e-rings are gorgeous as well, but for my own personal taste, I love the look of a classic solitaire. But I love the idea of the eternity band with it. I am still looking for which wedding band I want to go with. This thread is really helping me see every style that is out there!

It is always nice putting down the deposit, I agree. I feel so accomplished and it makes it feel that much more real. When my wedding is still close to a year away, it is nice to do things that remind me it is really happening and I am not dreaming!!

Oh no! DwBride, I'm so sorry to hear about all the disappointments. That really is a neat decoration concept that I hadn't seen before. It is frustrating waiting for a direct answer sometimes. I emailed our resort's photographer twice and asked our WC to contact them, because I wasn't hearing from them (still haven't heard anything from them to this day). This was at least 3 weeks ago. So, instead of going with the resort's photographer and saving us the $300 outside vendor fee, we are going with a different photographer. Even if we have to suck it up and pay an ungodly amount of money just to have another photographer come in, it will be worth it not to use the resort's photographer that can't even respond to a simple email.

I find that I am often reading all of the various posts, but don't have a lot to contribute. I have been reading on this forum for a while, but I never realized until recently that I should have been posting all this time. Oh well, at least we all know now and can post up a storm on here to get to 150. My wedding is not until August 2013, so I have some time.

Can't wait to start my blinged-out DIY cake topper. These look gorgeous! Our colors are lime green and royal blue, so I am going to try painting the letter lime green and choose blue rhinestones. That way a little bit of the green will peek out in between the stones...we'll see how it goes!

Really? I thought I read somewhere else that it was adults only. Good to know! I will make sure my guests look into both places to stay.
