  1. It is a little early for you to fret, Ashley. When is your RSVP due date? Be prepared to be on pins and needles about your guest total until that date or maybe a few days before your RSVP is due. That is how people are. Even if they know for sure from months ago that they can't make it, they will wait until the very last possible moment to let you know this info lol It's very frustrating! Hang in there.
  2. Doesn't it feel good to have people make a commitment to come to your wedding? Our guest list is rounding out this week and it feels great to finally have an idea of the number of folks coming. It also feels good that the amount of guests coming matches the amount I had in my head! Don't get nervous about the small stuff. You can have your venue coordinator help you pick things out or a friend even. Good luck on the rest of your wedding planning
  3. no I am not enjoying it either! I CANNOT WAIT until it's over. I think part of the reason for me is the ambivalence of my budget and just getting pricing and making sure my coordinator knows what I want. I have found myself having to repeat requests on several occasions (BTW, everything is in writing) so she should be able to look back at her emails with me and know what I said before. It's just frustrating. The good news is that I am now getting to a point where we know who is coming and have a solid number of guests to work with that will be attending. My RSVP deadline is Friday and can't come sooner because then I can unleash and scratch people off the list that have not responded yet lol *evil laugh*
  4. UPDATE: RSVP Hell has been averted. Repeat, it has been averted. lol I've gotten a lot of RSVPs just in the last week and we pretty much have a good idea of our final headcount now. So relieved!
  5. I have hired Stephanie Ford-Ramoon to do my make up along with my mom's and MOH. She's really sweet. Can't wait to work with her. I am working with the on-site coordinator at Grand Cayman Beach Suites so her services are included with the package which will vary depending on the add-ons (flowers, extra layer of cake, etc, etc.).
  6. The prices for Jasmine's dresses will vary depending on the demand for the dress, fabric upgrades (if any) etc. So the price Donna paid will undoubtedly be different and right now, it's also peak season, but since you aren't getting married until 2014, you can afford to wait until after the peak season. Their slow months are usually late summer/early fall. I also got my dress from them. They can be contacted via their website http://www.jasminesbridalshop.com/ and keep in mind they will close for approximately 3 weeks in February due to the Chinese New Year holidays over there.
  7. oh and this lady always posts the latest Vistaprint coupons on her Twitter page: https://twitter.com/MrsJenaB
  8. are you joking? There are Vistaprint deals for Groupon and Living Social that come out monthly! They are always available. Whenever I have needed one, I've always been able to get one. When you are ready for one, just google and you'll find a link somewhere to a deal.
  9. Canadians and Brits call a bachelorette party a "stagette". No showers or bachelorette parties for me either. FI will not have a bachelor party.
  10. Welcome! We are date twins. Different locations though. So jealous that you get to visit before the big day. I wish I had the chance to that as I am a really hands on planner, so it's been a little hard leaving a lot of this up to faith in people I haven't met but I am just going to hope for the best. Good luck with your planning.
  11. agreed. 10K is definitely realistic for 40 people if that doesn't include travel/hotel/honeymoon. Pretty much everything I learned about planning my wedding in grand cayman came from these threads and I just sent out e-mails to local planners/coordinator and went from there. Not a lot of info out there about this destination. My advice would be to get a local planner/coordinator first and go from there. Start with going to crystalblueweddings.com and also most are listed on this very thread and some venues listed on this thread have their own planners/coordinator like mine at Grand Cayman Beach Suites.
  12. btw, for those looking for plane tix, it looks like they did drop now that the holidays are over at least from NYC they have. Tix to Grand Cayman dropped back down over $120 less than they were right before x-mas
  13. Getting married in Grand Cayman on April 19 right on the beach just in time for sunset. I am in the midst of RSVP hell at the moment We are using all local vendors for everything. The smaller details and deciding on menu will come when I get a better idea of a headcount. I am not enjoying the planning process, but hope all turns out to be worth it in the end.
  14. At this point, 60 percent of our guests have not replied (that number basically is comprised of my family) and I have no idea which way they are swaying. I will split up the chasing of people to RSVP between myself, FI and my parents. I will only contact people via text message or email. It won't be too bad I suppose but it really irks me that I have to follow up. I suspect between now and the 18th I will hear from a few more folks. $340 is a sweeeeet deal! I find even if there's a good deal, people will drag their feet until the very last moment. You do have to hound them. Also you know what, NO BRIDE is patient during the wedding planning process because people act retarded when it comes to weddings and the proper etiquette and all that. It sucks and I'm sorry, I don't find it to be fun lol Looking forward to it all being done. I sometimes wish I had kept it even smaller!
  15. I have no idea what is wrong with people. I mean, the website RSVP was supposed to be easier, but it seems the only people that have used it were our friends. I got a few cards in the mail but most of the RSVPing has been done via word of mouth (and most of those have been a "no"). Basically, it's going to come down to having to contact everyone individually who has not RSVP'd. *sigh* Will keep you posted! When are you sending out your invites?
  16. I feel okay about everything so far. I guess. I haven't really done anything to do with the wedding lately, I just took a step back over the holidays and just enjoyed time with family and friends. I can't really do a lot more at this point without a headcount and at this point, I have no idea what the ballpark might be. My biggest stress right now is the RSVP hell I am swimming in at the moment. Everything you have heard and read on various message boards is true; people do not RSVP! I made it really easy too. I have RSVP capability on our website and I provided a card with stamped envelope. I only got a few of those back so far and some people I had to prompt to do it via the website. Some of my mom's friends have simply called her and told her they were coming but did not RSVP to me. Due date is January 18th. I have gotten official RSVP from approx 40 percent of my guest list as of today.
  17. babyonline is a vendor on dhgate.com. So here's the correct website for Babyonline: http://www.dhgate.com/wholesale/store/ff8080811f457b8c011f56709bc04543_0.html
  18. I am just using Hemingways to do the catering which includes the cake. The Cake Studio has beautiful cakes! I can see how you may have trouble deciding
  19. oh you'll be fine! Most of those tasks are not going to take much time to do. The final headcount thing though, join the club on that lol I hate waiting for the RSVPs!
  20. Ladies, also keep in mind that things do get lost in the mail! So a call or email may be in order. Just don't do it until after your RSVP date has passed. An example of this happening is when I spoke to my best friend from college on the phone and she actually sent in the RSVP card via snail mail and I never received it. She had booked and we speak regularly so I already knew she was coming, but there are plenty of others I do not speak to regularly like my parents' friends and stuff. I have had invitations not make it to people, etc. It happens more often than you think. So don't assume that just because you haven't heard from them that they are being rude and not RSVPing. I have an option to RSVP via my website as well but it seems most folks really like doing it the old fashioned way via snail mail or by calling and telling me or my parents. I do not care how we get notified, just as long as we do get notified.
  21. VaVava vooom! That dress fits you like Jessica Rabbit! Lovely Quote: Originally Posted by meems Here's my dress, it's a Robert Bullock...I knew it was the one the minute i tried it on
