  1. Very nice! Congrats! oh that Allure 8815 is a beautiful dress! Great choice! I still went with Jasmine's as you know, for my dress and patiently waiting for it. It's only been 3 weeks though. Hoping I have as much luck as most the other ladies.
  2. That's a tough one in your case. We are allowing singletons to bring a guest if they chose but there's actually only one person on the list that has told us they will definitely bring a guest who is a girlfriend of hers because she is not seeing anyone and she doesn't really know anyone else that's going and doesn't want to go alone which I completely understand. Everyone else knows each other and if they even come won't bring someone. But be prepared if you tell these people they can't bring someone, they may not come at all. It's definitely a gamble.
  3. did you order your dress yet? Also did you get your TTD session dress?
  4. Jetblue just announced that they are doing flights from NYC and Boston to Grand Cayman beginning in November. Unfortunately their lovely sale prices they got going on right now for those routes ends in February I am hoping they do another sale to promote the new route, but I do have family and friends that use JetBlue and have points so now they can use them for these flights possibly. Anyway, my friend just told me to check out Hipmunk.com to follow flight prices, it's basically like Kayak but cuter interface
  5. +1 for making a lifestyle change! Before I got engaged, I decided to get on the ball and take back my health. I started reading Tim Ferris's "The 4-Hour Body" and sort of adopted what he advises in that book with a few tweaks. I also took up running as my FI is a long distance runner and has done several races all over the country and will be doing the NYC Marathon next month! Yay. Anyway, I signed up for a few 5K races to get motivated and training for those has been my exercises. I'm down 40lbs and have kept it off for the last 3 months, took me about 5 months to lose the 40lbs. I have adopted eating clean meaning no rice, potatoes, pasta, sugars, etc 5 to 6 days a week. Then I have two cheat days which is Saturday and Sunday where I can eat whatever I want. I workout 3 to 4 days a week which is basically me running 3 to 4 miles and that's pretty much it. I feel great and I'm now at a normal BMI! that's really all I wanted. Definitely recommend the 4-hour Body book btw.
  6. gorgeous invitations! I think the purple belly band would also be better. Definitely not too plain. You should see how plain my invites are lol These are spectacular and your guests will be raving about them
  7. thanks! She tried on the bridesmaid dress in the shop and the color is actually a little bit darker in person, however it's still lovely and paired well with my color concept. Dessy has a lot of cute styles btw! Now I may switch the colors up on my groom and put him in a white shirt so he can wear a tie in the persian plum or in firecracker (that's Dessy's version of a light orange). I have not decided, but definitely order swatches from the designers you plan to order from. It helps tremendously especially in communicating with my wedding planner.
  8. thank you for the link to the word search puzzle maker! We had those at our family reunion last year and it was my cousin who did it so I had no idea where she got that template from. Also I absolutely LOVE the new pieces you posted from Stella and Dot. I love the first bracelet the best. I am doing the blinged out look to accessorize as well. You're wedding is going to be off the chain, I have to say. You are getting married in six months like me and you have over 60 guests booked and I've got like 8 lol Jealous
  9. That sounds like a plan! I am sorry this has seemingly been a painstaking process for you and I think it has a lot to do with Candy's departure. It's like you had the dress you were happy with during your first midproduction photos and just wanted a few minor tweaks and when they did the switch and James was your new consultant, it became a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" situation with that whole rosette overload. lol Well, I am crossing my fingers for you and me too! lol I think even if they do nothing else, you have yourself a lovely dress!
  10. I had to add it to my "About Grand Cayman" page on my wedding website. Told wedding guest they too can have a photo with a stingray!
  11. Okay, so it was Candy who misrepresented what premium grade meant. That makes sense why she ain't there anymore then, just writing what people want to here I guess. I find that in communicating with them, simpler is better. Did you answer James already when he directed you to get designer grade? I have to be honest, I had to look really hard at that photo to notice the lopsided skirt and I am not even sure if that has to do with the way the skirt was sewn on or if it's simply not adjusted right on the mannequin or if it was because you pointed it out. I hope you can get this resolved in a timely manner, nevertheless.
  12. I have to co-sign with this statement. The reality is that we aren't going to be getting the real dress so we have to expect that there will be some differences with the replica. Their website does say now 80-90 percent accuracy for premium grade, I can't recall if it ever said anything different but that seems right. I gather that was sent in an email by James about the 90-95 % accuracy for premium grade? Anyway, the point for me in deciding to do this was to save money and still get a lovely dress. I fully think your dress is lovely and if they can do the tweak with the extra fabric like MissKim said, I think you will have an amazing dress for a very good price. It is going to look much better on you than on the mannequin so have faith.
  13. great planning thread! You are really on top of things! Did you use a word puzzle generator to do your wedding word search?
  14. I am doing sort of hues of plum, tangerine, coral and purples. Here's my bouquet. Here's what the guys are wearing: the shirt is from Island Importer in coral. They will wear this will ivory linen pants and my FI will be wearing the entire suit. and my matron of honor: The dress is in Persian Plum from Dessy
  15. girl you will die in NYC if you do not wear some sneakers or at least comfortable walking shoes. You will have to do A LOT of walking. If you haven't been before I'd say give yourself some time to properly plan. NYC is an expensive city all around no matter what time of year you go. Food, nightlife, etc will be costly even if you go for only a few days. Hotels typically will cost you upwards of $200/night. That's on the low side.
  16. We chose a DW wedding for reasons mentioned by some of the brides on here already. We both have huge families and wanted to keep it intimate and costs lower. But the main reason is that we are both travel fiends and wanderlusts. We travel a lot and all the time and have been all over the world together. We picked our location of Grand Cayman because it is our favorite beach spot that we always said we'd get married there and Seven Mile Beach happens to be one of the best beaches in the world! It's a special place for us and was an easy decision.
  17. that color combo is VERY close to mine! So pretty
  18. Actually, I take that back, you do not want to go during NYC marathon weekend lol The hotels are booked up now and it's expensive because people come from all over the world to compete in that. I'd say if you plan to go in November, trying going any time that's not Thanksgiving Ditto on Canal Street. I do a lot of my shopping there and in SoHo.
  19. The Alex Hotel is nice and right near Grand Central Station and is in Midtown East. It's in a good area and you will find hotel prices to be cheaper on that side of town. You really have your pick of hotels in Manhattan, it all will come down to how much you want to spend. Also, I hope you aren't afraid of public transportation because the subway is amazing in the city. It's cheap and takes you everywhere. You can get a Metrocard and you've got your passport to NYC. It's really not that scary and complicated. I see tourists who don't speak English in there all the time and they figure it out because they know it's the best way to get around too! Taxis are plentiful but can add up. I would only use them really for a night out on the town when you got your heels on and it's late/and or you've drank too much. Otherwise, I'd stick to the subway. http://www.mta.info/ November is so nice in NYC. It's crisp and lovely. You may even catch the NYC marathon if you chose to go in the first week of November! My Fiance is running in that and I will also be running that weekend too for the Dash to the Finish which is the last 5K of the NYC Marathon route!
  20. I hear that. I think a TA is a fabulous idea for those who have a larger guest list and/or are doing AI resorts or cruise weddings. If that were the case for us, we'd have used one. I am thankful that our host hotel, although it's not AI, offers free breakfast and free wifi. The price is also amazing and the lowest I've found on Grand Cayman. Apparently every hotel there is either all suites or a vacation rental apartment. I am not tripping over OOT bags at this point. We will send out our invites in early November and our RSVP by date is January 18th. I need to get my final numbers to my wedding planner by February 15th which gives me plenty of time to do OOT bags.
  21. I live in DC now, but I just moved here from NYC where I lived in Manhattan for 6 years. I am a huge foodie so whenever people ask for recommendations about things to do in NYC I simply send then to where to eat lol This tour should not be skipped: http://www.scottspizzatours.com/ PIZZA PIZZA and more PIZZA and Scott knows his stuff. Also best time of the year I would say now like the Fall months (October to mid-November). Central Park is amazing with the leaves turning and it's not too cold. I would not go during Thanksgiving and X-mas as it's EXTREMELY expensive and CROWDED. Summer is miserable, crowded and hot. Peak travel time. Spring is also a good time to go post-any chances of snow but you might catch rain. So I would recommend April/May and even early June is fine. Make sure to see a Broadway show. Not sure your style but I've seen tons of shows there and one of my favorites is Chicago. You can get discounted tickets here: http://www.broadwaybox.com/ This site is virtually the same as going to the TKTS office which sells discounted Broadway tickets also, but you can get them ahead of time like weeks ahead instead of waiting until the same day or day before and having to go in person to get tickets. To stay, I would not stay in Times Square. AVOID. You can visit there if you have never been, but don't stay there. It's rough. Try staying in Midtown East or even Downtown. You will thank me. One of my favorite hotels is The Hudson which is really trendy and fun but tiny rooms. It's in Columbus Circle. More reasonable would be The DoubleTree or the Radisson in Midtown East. Of course there are TONS of hotels in Manhattan. I am not recommending you stay in any of the outer boroughs. Also get this pass: http://www.citypass.com/new-york Save money, save time, see tons of stuff and have fun!
