  1. For our destination wedding guestbook I have heard of others doing this and I really like the idea: In the welcome bag, put a blank postcard addressed to the bride and groom and put a stamp on it - the idea is that all the guests write a message and send off the postcard for you to receive back home. So cute!!
  2. I love the sky lanterns - too bad we cannot have them at our resort.
  3. I dont have a photo, but I found a really cute seahorse bride and groom cake topper on etsy that I fell in love with!
  4. Sounds yummy. Although I have heard that the cake is really good at the Majestic, Punta Cana.
  5. We picked PhotoSouvenir. I really liked the work I saw on their website. We, however, do have to pay the $300 fee. The amount that you want to spend on your photos is dependant on how many photos you want/how many hours the photographer will be working - so if you only want photos from your ceremony and on - it may not be so expensive because your ceremony starts at 7pm.
  6. The Majestic Elegance and Colonial have been rated #6 and #7 on Tripadvisor. They have both received excellent review and many of the ladies that have already been married there have said great things about it. If you are going to have guests that expect perfection then they will probably not be satisfied. For us it was most important that the location was affordable, clean and a nice beach. There are so many restaurants that I am sure everyone will find something they enjoy. Either way - its a vacation - so relax and enjoy. Thinking too much about it and setting high expectations will only lead to possible dissapointment.
  7. Hi Megan, I am getting married at the Majestic Colonial in May as well! The price for a Civil Ceremony package is $1750 and for a Symbolic Ceremony Package it is $1250. Your WC should be able to send you some documents with more specific information.
  8. I was planning on just doing welcome bags and no favors. We are also having an AHR and I will do favors there.
  9. I think a lot of the photographers have small packages. Does your resort offer a photographer? It may be cost effective because you won't have to pay a day pass/vendor fee if the photographer is associated with your resort. I am using photosouvenir. There are tons of others that you could contact and get a price estimate Photophil Steingard Michael Steingard Jamie Dimitry HDC Photo Just send out some emails and see what they say.
  10. Christe, are you against having the WC perform your ceremony? I was going to do that until I found out about Pastor York, and I was lucky that he was available for my date.
  11. I havent completely decided whether I will go barefoot for the ceremony or wear flat sparkly sandals...but I am only about an inch shorter then my FI and I wanna keep it that way
  12. This is hilarious! I have just started to get some stuff for the wedding and it has been put in my storage locker (we live in a condo) however, once all the stuff starts coming in - I am very afraid of where we are going to put it - because we have no extra space anywhere!
  13. The first time I went dress shopping I went with my girls....and the next 4 times I went with my mom. I found the dress (finally!) It was great to have my mom with me - she was a big help. However, now my girls didnt get to see my dress and they want to see it - but I told them that I want them to have the moment when they first see me in it - they are not too happy about it - but i think it will be worth it in the end!
  14. At a friends wedding we did a volleyball game with the group and had so much fun!
  15. I found my TA through a friend. She had used her to book her trip for a friend's wedding and said she was pleasant to work for. We met for an inital consulation and at that point I already knew where I wanted to do my wedding. When we sent out our save the dates, we put our TA's information on there and asked everyone to contact her directly. She has already taken everyone's deposits and will be following up with everyone for full payment. It makes it much easier on me that I do not have to worry about any of these things. She is also keeping lists of people that are attending my wedding, but not travelling on the same flight (they are from different cities/countries). Also, I lucked out and she is going to my resort in November. So I'm going ask her to meet with my WC and take some photos of certain things for me - since I didnt get a chance to do a site visit. It depends on how big your wedding is and how many guests you will have. If you numbers are quite large - I would hire a TA to deal with all the travel arrangements for you. It takes a load off of you! Hope that helps
  16. I have asked some girls that were previously married at the Majestic and they said that you can cut off your bracelet and just keep it and then go back the next day and they will put a new one on you. I have actually seen some photos were the groom did not take of his bracelet and it did not look very good!
  17. I really dont want my FI and the groomsmen to wear sandals with their linen suits but I dont know what to suggest instead???
  18. I bought mine with just under 8 months to go and I was so stressed that I wouldnt find it and then I would have t rush order it....so I am so happy/relieved!!
