I am sorry that you are facing this as a problem! Bridesmaids should not put any Bride in a position that you are facing. They should just be honored that you have asked them to be part of your special day! I have 7 bridesmaids one which is married and I have know her since we were in 4th grade so she is my Matron of Honor and I have also picked my sister which is not married to be you Maid of Honor so they utlimately are they the same. But to be honest all 7 of my bridesmaids are what I consider extremely close and are considered a Maid of Honor or Matron of Honor. None of my FI's groomsmen are of my friend husbands and I dont think the guy really care it is just the Bridesmaid that cares. Im sure her husband will be just as happy to be part of the festivities and he doesn't have to pay for the suit...haha. Maybe you can come up with special names for each individual bridesmaid with different roles so that each will feel that they have an important place instead of just calling one a MOA. Im not sure if this helps but I sure whatever you decide everything will work out in the end and your special day will be just as you envisioned it. Best wishes!

Upcoming Brides and Future Brides- I was on the forum reading a review of a wedding at Barcelo and the girl mentioned that they did their rehearsal dinner at a place called Tirami...su in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico which is about 15 miles from the hotel. The owner name is Donna and she in from the U.S and has been in Puerto Aventuras for about 15 years. I contacted her to do our rehearsal dinner at the restaurant to do something different and away from the hotel. When I contacted her I informed that I would like to have our rehearsal dinner there she asked me a few question, how many people, what price range I wanted to stay in, and if we needed transportation? I told her about 35 people and I would like to stay between $13-18 and transportation would be needed. She sent me over a menu with a verity of options and she would send vans to pick us up for $6 a person. Well as I contacted her yesterday come to find out she is a pleasure to talk to and work with she also knows a lot about the area. She has a ton of connections to all areas of planning weddings. She even does weddings and receptions at the restaurant not to mention she is a minister!!! I would recommend looking into the restaurant for a rehearsal dinner and if you wanted she could help with parts to all of your wedding needs (DJ, Photographer, Videographer, Flowers, cakes, locations, food, Officiate..ect.) Here is her information. I would have just thought that the outside reception was going to be part of the fixed cost not what we had to pay per person. I agree with you on people making the sacrifice to be there and pay money part. I would thought that since it was $39 dollars more per person that we are spending that our guest should get something out of it other than a menu change. Not a big deal we will deal with it. I just thought maybe since its $66 that the bar stays open and extra hour for them or something in that sense.

Does anyone know why the Mint breeze package is only $27.00 a person after 20 and the Strawberry passion package is $66.00 a person after 15 people? Why is there such a big jump in price? What do the guest get more of for the price to jump big of a difference? I have asked me WC twice and still no response to I was wondering if anyone that has had their wedding at the Palace or is about to could answer that question. Do the guest get a better selection of food? Desserts?

mrsnov- I am getting married at the Palace Deluxe on 3/22/13 and asked my WC about the $500 fee and she said it is waived if you book a 2 nights for the photographer. You can book any Barcelo hotel which would be cheaper than paying the $500 fee. On your wedding day anyone that is a guest staying that at a different Barcelo is allow to be at the wedding at no additional charge. That would include the photographer. I have also read that some brides booked only one night for the photographer and the the WC never questioned them. I dont know if that is a chance you are willing to take but I thought I would just mention it. Also I was going with the mint breeze package as well and to have my reception outdoors I had to change to Strawberry package. I have read in a previous post as well that a bride had the mint breeze and said the pesto chicken was amazing...?

I did ask my WC yesterday about getting a room for 2 nights for the photographer and she said that the $500 fee would be waived. I also asked about the D.J bringing a generator that eliminate the $105 an hour electricity usage and she said yes so that has been confirmed. I really appreciate all the information that you have given me!!!!! A HUGE THANKS!!!! I have contacted Ivan about prices and I believe I am going to try to look for one more to compare packages. Also I am looking to maybe have a videographer.

Thank you so much for the come back to earth check! I needed it!HAHA! I struggled with deciding to have a destination for this reason. I know I need to chill out. Its just that when the first of the year comes around I dont even want to have to worry about it. Thank you for sharing what you have done. Please keep me posted because I would like to know the people you used so that maybe I will do the same. You information has been so helpful. I think I am going to do the DJ the way you did it. Cause that seems to be alot better than what they are wanting to charge. Also I am interested in the Photographer because the people they are wanting me to use is crazy expensive and the pictures arent that great.

Hello Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe Brides!!! I am having a little bit difficulties with planning my wedding. I have booked the hotel and flight and reserved my wedding date for March 22, 2013 @ 5:00 pm in the Gazebo!!! YEA for that but with communicating with the WC has been a bit of a challenge!!!!!! I have picked the Mint Breeze package because that allows the most people. So when going through the steps to have ran into a few road blocks. The first one is that I have really picky eaters in my group. Some dont like seafood, some dont like veggies, and some dont eat meat.So I was wondering if I could have the option to have 2 main dishes on the menu..They said no so we are going with pesto boiled chicken. Second set back is the reception area even though the mint breeze has it set in the banquet room I thought they would be able to accommidate my reception in the pool area. Well that has brought me to where I am now and that is that I am going to have to change my package to be able to have my reception area the pool area. Let just say that this planning process hasnt been the most enjoyable one. My WC is Victoria and her response time is terrible. With that being said I ready to be in Mexico marrying my best friend and the greatest man on earth! If anyone have advice for the reception area, DJ, Photographers, Makeup Please give me some insite!!! ALL ADVICE IS GOOD ADVICE!!

Hello- I am almost through the wedding spreadsheet with my WC at Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe and I am wondering if even though I picked the Mint package and it states that the reception will be in a banquet room if anyone had any problem having it out by the beach? I would like it to be outside and not on the sand but close. Also did anyone have a DJ and if so were they good? and did they have them for longer than 2 hours? I am 8 months out and I trying to make sure that I have everything important taken care of.
