  1. I purchased mine from paperlanternstore.com. I purchased a few different sizes in a few different colors first (so I could check them out) and I ended up ordering mine through them. They're cheap and the quality is nice. I purchased the irregular ones as opposed to the normal ones, just for something a little different. If you message me your address, I can send you one of mine (since I have a ton extra) just so you can check it out. Shipping was about $10 or so, I think a little less - closer to $8.00; they shipped the lanterns via FedEx and arrived within three days. I'm not sure how it will differ from you since you're in Canada, but I had a great experience with them.
  2. I'm sorry! I was quoted $350 for each additional hour.. that was a typo.
  3. I specified DJ Doremixx when I requested our DJ. Deisy contacted them for me and scheduled them for our wedding.. I've heard nothing about any additional fees outside of the cost for additional hours. I really hope that I still get DJ Doremixx since that's what I was told and that's what I wanted. I would be surprised, though, if they change it on people who are already booked. I've also found nothing on AVI.
  4. I booked DJ Doremixx through Deisy a few months ago and she said everything was fine. I was told I would get two hours of DJ time for the live music I don't really want, then I will add an additional $150 per hour. I have not heard anything else regarding this, so I would assume it is for new bookings.
  5. Haha. I can understand that... BUT.. your wedding, your rules, your way. Don't lose sight of that even though it's easy to do.
  6. I really like this idea, Kristen. In fact, I like it well enough to do this for our wedding. Not everyone will eb able to talk to each other like this, but the same is true if you had a few round tables.
  7. Everything will be lovely. If there's one thing that's been consistent, it's been that you shouldn't worry because everything will be amazing and beautiful. Safe travels! Looking forward to your photos/review when you return. Congratulations!@
  8. Additionally, I traded my live musicians for two hours worth of DJ time. I will be paying the additional fee of $350 per hour after the 2 hours.
  9. I also confirmed DJ Doremixx and they are one of the resort DJs, so you will not have to pay an additional fee. I confirmed that with Deisy before I booked them.
  10. We are getting married 11/16/2013. Congratulations! Happy planning!
  11. Congratulations! I am getting married 11/16/2013. Happy planning! My fiance and I went with the Divine package since we are only expecting 30-40 people, so I can't be of much help there.
  12. Could you please email it to me, too? [email protected] That will be super helpful. Thanks!
  13. What sized did you use for your lanterns? I bought several different sizes, but some of them seem way too big and some way too small.
  14. I'm not sure, but I'm curious about that as well. Also, I wanted the brown set up as opposed to the white. I'm sure that's extra.
  15. Thanks! That does help.. a lot, actually. I think I'm going to give her a call to chat about what I need and what we can work out.
  16. I have a question about Teresa. I've contacted her twice and have received no response from her yet... it's been about two weeks. She was quick with communication at first, answering some questions, but now I haven't heard anything in a while. I'm not frustrated because I'm sure she's busy. Anyway, my question is how you worked out your contact..? I don't know how many people are planning on going and I don't want to reserve a block of rooms only to be stuck paying for them later on. I wanted my fiance and I to book our room through her, of course, but I wanted the option to give my guests her information so they could book through her if they wanted to... does that work or do I have to block rooms for them? Any help would be extremely helpful. I want to book with her very soon, but I need some questions answered first.. and you seemed to have asked a lot. Thanks in advance!
  17. We are bringing lanterns down with it. We got ours at paperlanternstore.com. They were really cheap, but nice quality, and shipping was pretty quick.
  18. I purchased lanterns, too... for cheap! I am skipping the lights; I've seen pictures of them without the lights and they look just fine. As far as the uplighting, I have no idea but I'm kind of interested to find out. It's probably extra, but I don't know how much it would be.
  19. You have to pay an outside vendor fee, but you can hire your own. From what I understand, there are no restrictions regarding the DJ.
  20. We are hoping to only seat 8 per table, maybe 6, depending on how many guests we have. We are not doing 10 because we feel it would be crowded.
  21. Tipping is not required, but it is extremely appreciated (even a few dollars goes a long way for them) and most people do it. The taxes and gratuities are included with the room rates, yes, and the tipping IS optional, but, honestly, you don't have to tip the staff very much, a few dollars each time won't add up to a whole lot of money. Taxes for the add-ons to your wedding package, however, are not included and will only be indicated on your final invoice. It's best to see what the taxes are (11%, etc.) ahead of time so there are no surprises. The total amount for the Divine package, with tax, is $2999, but that includes no additional guests, services, decorations, etc. Please keep that in mind so you don't end up over your budget. As far as tipping the wedding coordinators, DJ, etc., which is also not required, it is very appreciated as well. We will be tipping some them much more generously.
  22. Kelly, I asked Deisy about swapping out the musician in the package for a DJ and this is what I got in response: Also, will it be possible to exchange my live musician in the package for the DJ? I will pay some additional money since I'm I'm sure it won't be an equal swap. How many hours will the DJ be for this way? A= Yes, I can to change the set live of music for 02 hours of dj, only let me tell you that the extra hour will be $ 350 USD plus 11% tax. J Now, I know that there is some inconsistency about swapping, but that's what I was told. If you want to keep the musician in the package, I'm not sure how much it would be; I would think the $350 USD plus tax, but maybe it's more money if you're adding the service..?
  23. We are including our photographer for dinner. You don't have to, but it's very thoughtful and they will appreciate it.
  24. It is actually very common to have place cards and/or escort cards at a wedding reception; that's how the guests know where they will be sitting. You usally have a seating chart so you know where everyone will be seated and you need the guests to know that, too. It is also helpful to indicate what entree they selected since, like you pointed out, they may have forgotten which they chose. You could try doing the menus in different colors,or affixing them to pieces of cardstock using your wedding colors. It will be easier for the resrot waitstaff to deliver the correct entrees to the correct guest. Or make some place cards in two colors and put them on the plates with the guest names; one color for steak, one for tuna. Colors seem like it would be an easy way to distinguish the entree. You can do anything, really, as long as you have two different things that you can associate with the entrees, and make sure the resort knows ahead of time (let Pilar know in your meeting) so she can make a note and the guests get the correct meal.
