  1. Hi Worried Bride! Does your venue offer options/packages through specific contractors? I have found that these end up being the most affordable options through my venue (as they charge for outside vendors), but in my case, they werent always the best. I decided to invest more in using an outside photographer (I went with Del Sol, because their images are amazing - and the only thing I will have to remember the day once it's over!), because that was one of the most important things to me, and something that just anyone couldnt give you. As for a DJ, my resort offered one, and he allows me to put in a playlist. I figured with my requests, he couldnt be too much different than using a more expensive outside vendor!
  2. AnnR, quick Q for you (and apologize if I have missed it in the FAQs, but I looked, I promise!). When I change from a noob to a Junior Member, is that when I can have a signature and my posts won't have to be moderated? Also, how long does it take for them to be moderated and post, on average? I feel like some never do, but maybe I'm just not waiting long enough? Thanks - just trying to reach a higher status so I can be more active!!!
  3. Coordinating table numbers, guestbook signs, and little maracas (with tags featuring a poem about shaking them in order to see the bride and groom kiss) coming next!
  4. I used the sand dollar throughout - on letters, menus, bridal part gift bags, etc. to tie everything together. Here is one of the table numbers (in Spanish), which I printed and decorated, then placed in some shell holders I got on Etsy. I also printed instructions for the guestbook (we are doing a Fuji instant guestbook with fun props) and table numbers, and framed them in some Mother of Pearl shell frames I got at target:

  6. Next up, gift bags... My colors are a bright coral-ly pink, and ivory/silver. In order to give everything a consistent and stylized look, I went to town with one of those Martha Stewart punches featuring a starfish/sand dollar. Here are the cutouts on my gift bags/welcome letters. (You'll also notice the tiny bottle in front - in addition to items like aloe, sunscreen and a pocket Spanish dictionary, we put tiny messages in these bottles that explain that they are to bring back a little bit of paradise (sand) when they leave!) The tags on the gift bags say "Gracias y bienvenidos."
  7. Why, thank you! I'm sure Del Sol's photos of my crafts on the actual day will do them better justice More craftiness to come in future posts, however this forum is - at the moment - giving me grief in posting them!

(Now I just have to figure out how the heck to get it all to Mexico!)

  12. I am a loves-to-craft, Etsy & pinterest-obsessed, champagne taste on a Boone's Farm budget bride, so I have been DIY-ing my little heart out. Some ideas are my own, some I found inspiration for here and other places, some I saw on Etsy and decided I could make for cheaper. Thought I would share in case it helps others looking for ideas (and lacking funds). Please post yours too - I have eight months to go and plenty of time for additional projects! I'll start with my bridesmaid's cards/requests - they aren't beachy, but they are fun! I surprised each girl with a mini bottle of champagne and a note that said, "There is still one question that needs to be popped... will you be my bridesmaid? (If I promise not to make you wear a dress like this) {next to some fugly bridesmaid dresses }. I wrote a personal note on the back.

  16. I'm obsessed with my e-ring! I picked out the setting, the hubby-to-be picked out the diamond. I was pleasantly surprised!
  17. I am OBSESSED with Etsy for my beach wedding. So far (and I am 8 months out) I have ordered shell table number holders, photo props, a photo guestbook, bridesmaid gifts (custom stamped silver necklaces with a Spanish quote, as the Wedding is in Mexico), shells for centerpieces, invitations and tons of other things from the site (and have "borrowed" a few other ideas to recreate on my own). OBSESSED!

  19. I am a Jan. 2013 bride too- the Royal Playa Del Carmen!
  20. Hi All! Wondering if anyone can help me whith a few questions (my wedding is not for another 8 months and I am not doing my pre-visit/tasting for a month or so, so it's hard to get straight answers from the hotel on a few things this far out)! If you have had/are having your wedding at the Royal in PDC: 1) Did they let you bring your own cernterpieces? Not talking about bringing in an outside florist - was looking at doing some sort of beachy lantern situation and hauling from the states. 2) Did they let you have a menu choice for guests? I have heard both yes - between two main courses if you determine an easy system for them to know who gets what, and no - no way, no how. Any insight as to whether or not I should push for this? 3) Anyone opt for the light-up dance floor with DJ at your beach reception? Did it add a lot of light (worried about the darkness of the beach in January), and how much did they charge for it, in addition to the DJ fees? Thanks to anyone who can help, and happy planning to you all!
  21. I am so excited to be working with your team for my wedding in January!
