  1. @@LoriGran I think I saved it as an image and that way when I went to print it I was able to select 4 images per page. Don't totally remember, but I'm pretty sure that did the trick! Good luck!!

  3. I'm not ashamed to admit that I love Bravo's Real Housewives franchise. If you share my addiction you'll probably get a kick out of this parody video by comedian Amy Phillips, a regular on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live. Watch as Housewives favorites Teresa Giudice (New Jersey), Ramona Singer (New York) Heather Dubrow (Orange County) and Brandi Glanville (Beverly Hills) send their best wishes for a happy marriage:
  4. @Carlicardenas I used two frames and set them out on the table side by side! Worked great.
  5. I posted some fun ideas about this last year! Check it out here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/72524-share-your-sweetheart-table-inspiration/
  6. I would recommend checking out the free printables section of WeddingChicks.com. That's what I did for my cocktail menu, food menu, thank you sign, and a few other things. You can see everything in my planning journal here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/73619-alexisinjamaicas-secrets-st-james-42713-planning-journal/
  7. Thanks, that's so sweet of you! Tassle garland was from: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheFlairExchange I'll email you the program now! Sadly the fans have been sold. But check the classified boards on BDW. I feel like brides are always selling those! Or you can also purchase them in bulk relatively cheaply from Oriental Trading or a similar company. Good luck!!
  8. I love a good list too! And I feel like being organized and making one is half the battle! So you can totally do it. Good luck!
  9. Still plugging along! On Monday, 1/6 (day 6 of this experiment) I forced myself to wake up at 5am and go to the gym with all of the other people who realized it's a new year and we should get off our asses. Good times. After, I had a smoothie with: spinach, almond milk, frozen mixed berries, a banana and chia seeds for breakfast. Lunch was a salad full of veggies, and for dinner Joe made a stir fry with veggies, tofu and brown rice. I fell asleep at 8:30pm (see above re: waking up at 5am). But that brings me to a point. For as long as I can remember, I have had weird sleep issues. Namely that I can (and often do) fall asleep anywhere. I've seriously wondered if I have a rare form of narcolepsy. I fall asleep in loud movies, in cars when I'm mid-conversation with people (though thankfully not driving), at friend's houses I will fall asleep for a disco nap, then wake up and be completely alert for another 10 minutes, re-join the conversation, and then I'm out again. I also have heard that I sleep walk and talk. Some of the things I've been told I've said recently include: "did you put pajamas on the baby?" (note: I do not have a baby) "WHERE DID YOU PUT MY GRAPES?!" (asked angrily while walking around the room with crazy eyes) "Who is going to pick the strawberries?" etc. At least my sleep talking is also vegan. Hey-o! Joe also claims that the other night I got up, took my pillow, and went into the living room for a few minutes and he has no idea what i was doing. In the mornings I never have any recollection that anything has happened. All of that was to say, maybe this vegan experiment will give me more energy and improve my borderline narcolepsy and sleep walking! I'll keep you posted, as I'm sure you're dying to know! Tuesday, 1/7 was pretty uneventful. Another smoothie for breakfast then lentil soup and a garden salad for lunch. I went to my favorite spin teacher's class after work and I'm convinced he made the routines harder to punish us for the holidays. Had some gluten free brown rice pasta with an avocado pesto and side salad for dinner. Pretty tasty. Oh! I also discovered this, and will be experimenting with some of these recipes in the coming weeks: http://www.seriouseats.com/2013/03/vegan-recipes-mains-soups-salads-breakfasts-sandwiches-appetizers.html Joe informed me tonight that when this is over, he may want to try a Paleo diet. God help us.
  10. @lydiasusi- Kale isn't essential, it just so happens I've had a lot of it these first few days. Also I was having fun with my writing, exaggerating to make things funnier/more interesting. So I'm approaching these posts with tongue planted firmly in cheek! I will check out the coconut oil and yogurt though, good tips! If you care to share any recipes, be my guest! @TammyHost- haha well in your defense juice cleanses are way harder. I tried one too once after watching the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and also only lasted 2 days.
  11. Be careful what you wish for! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/blog/8-the-vegan-experiment/
  12. Confession: I am already sick of kale. For breakfast I had a kale and tofu scramble with tomatoes, onions and mushrooms and some toast. It was good and filling, but then for lunch I had some leftover kale salad from Sage and that was when I had a vision of the next 85 days being filled with kale. Shortly after breakfast Joe stated “I don’t know how much longer I can last.” We decided that the reason for boredom and thoughts of wanting to quit were just due to the fact that we had not been shopping in a while and had thrown out all of our non-vegan food (read: everything delicious) so we had a house without any food. We went to a nearby health food store, then Trader Joe’s, and stocked up on granola, almond milk, chia seeds (for smoothies), tons of quinoa, spinach, tomatoes, apples, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, more kale (ugh, Joe added this to the cart), tofu, broccoli, brussel sprouts, hummus, pita crackers, carrots, brown rice, black beans, sweet potatoes, mixed greens and a bunch of other things I’m forgetting. Please note we aren’t savages and normally keep most of these items on hand. Because of the craziness of the holidays, having out of town guests, etc., it had just been awhile since we’d had a full fridge and so the first few days we ate out, partly due to laziness. But we fixed that now! Hooray! When we came back, we got sucked into an episode of Chopped on the Food Network. One of the chefs was a vegan raw food chef, and that’s when I realized it could be worse. We could have chosen a 90 day raw food diet. Just kidding, that would never happen. I’d rather gouge out my eye with a kale chip. (No offense to anyone reading this who follows a raw food diet. You are a wonderful and mystical creature. Like a unicorn, but better.) That’s it for today. Time to catch up with some Real Housewives, visit Downton Abbey* and hit the hay. *Unrelated side story: I once had a legitimate argument with my sister over whether or not it was DowntoWn Abbey. She was convinced there was another “w” in there.
  13. It’s the start of a new year and the husband and I have decided to try an experiment: go vegan for 90 days. My husband Joe LOVES meat, so this should be tough for him. I’m OK skipping meat, but I do enjoy my sweets, and no dairy means no delicious desserts. Obviously there are vegan treats, but it’s not the same. Luckily we live in LA and there are plenty of vegan restaurants and health food stores. Plus, with all the weird food issues in LA we’re not the most difficult couple when we go out to eat in a group. (I’m looking at you: vegan, raw and gluten-free Anna who is also allergic to peanuts.) Tammy suggested I start a blog to chronicle my journey. So if you hate this, blame her! But it could be a fun way to share what’s happening and also keep me honest. I’m starting this a few days in so this first post is just a quick catch-up of the beginning. Here goes! We got started on January 1st, and had we planned ahead we would have gotten lots of vegan friendly foods for the house. Instead, for the first few days we ate out at a handful of different vegan restaurants near our place. Native Foods and Sage are two favorites that I’m sure we’ll revisit a lot throughout this experiment. Sage serves KindKreme, which is vegan friendly ice cream and desserts. I discovered a vegan version of Rocky Road ice-cream that isn’t terrible. Yay? On Friday the 3rd we had a friend’s birthday party to go to, which served as our first test. It was a PIZZA PARTY at a BAR. (Did I mention we’re also giving up alcohol?) It sounded like it would be torture, but it wasn’t too bad. We made sure to get a vegan dinner beforehand so we wouldn’t be tempted, and then we rocked cucumber water all night. Success! We just may be able to do this!
  14. A girls weekend is always a great idea! This is not really a "resolution," but I've decided to try an experiment and go vegan for 90 days. It's forcing me to be more creative come grocery shopping and meal time, but it's not too hard to find vegan-friendly foods and restaurants in LA. We'll see if I like it and continue past the 90 day mark!
  15. Wow I am out of touch! Haven't even heard of this one. Going to Google now!! Let me know if you try it...
  16. There are few things in life more enjoyable than a good ol' romantic comedy. And for fans of the genre, the icing on top is a rom' com with a fantastic, gorgeous, over the top wedding scene. They're great for ideas and inspiration or even just fantasy viewing (we can't all be Carrie Bradshaw, am I right?) We thought it might be fun to put together a list of the best wedding scenes in some of our favorite movies. And have no fear, rom' com haters: we even have some dramas and a tween fantasy movie thrown in for good measure. Check out the list below and let us know if we forgot one of your favorite movies/scenes! Best Dress: Vera Wang x2 in Bride Wars OK, this is kind of a cheat, because we're really picking two fabulous dresses, but can you blame us? Both gowns are from wedding gown queen Vera Wang. One is a gorgeous princess style, accented with a lavender sash, the other a sexy mermaid with ruching. Best Officiant: The Princess Bride There’s nothing more beautiful than wuv, true wuv. And if you get that line, then you've seen this movie and are very familiar with one of the most memorable wedding officiants ever put on film. Watch as Princess Buttercup is forced to marry Prince Humperdink while her true wuv, Westley, is en route to try and save her. Best Vows: The Vow It should come as no surprise that a movie named The Vow' wins the award for best movie wedding vows. (Also, we'll take any excuse to feature a clip with Channing Tatum.) Although he's not in his 'Magic Mike' costume here, he's still pretty darn cute when professing his love to movie wife Rachel McAdams with a beautiful and heartfelt speech. Rachel holds her own and delivers sweet, simple and funny vows of her own. http://youtu.be/OSRATVBzYgU Best Venue: The Forest in Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 1 Let's be clear here: one member of the happy couple is a hundred year old a vampire, and the other is still in high school. To call this an unconventional pairing is an understatement. But these two crazy lovebirds throw one of the most picturesque fantasy weddings we've seen on film. A secluded forest with a giant wisteria tree sets the scene for this rustic yet romantic wedding. Side note: Edward and Bella also get an honorable mention for best kiss. Steamy! Turns out when you’re a couple in real life (they were at the time of filming, but have since broken up) it makes for a pretty believable movie kiss! Best Bridesmaid: Katherine Heigl in 27 Dresses When looking for a bridesmaid we obviously want to have our closest friends as our support system, and if they happen to also be generally appeasing and up for anything, all the better! No one fits this description more than Katherine Heigl's character, who has been a bridesmaid in a jaw-dropping 27 weddings. This dress-up scene where Katherine models all of her dresses makes her the ultimate bridesmaid. She’s done it 27 times, guys! And she's still a great bridesmaid and friend to her sister in the movie who is planning to marry Katherine’s boss, who Katherine is secretly in love with. How selfless! And awkward, definitely awkward. Best Father: Steve Martin in Father of the Bride If you have a special relationship with your father, then you probably love this scene from Father of the Bride where Steve Martin's character has an internal monologue explaining a father's feelings while giving away his little girl. So sweet! Best Wedding Speech: Dueling Speeches in Bridsemaids If you're lucky enough to have two best friends, hopefully they don't fight over you in a game of "no, I know her best!" while toasting you and your betrothed. But if they do, let's hope it's as funny as this hilarious scene from Bridesmaids. http://youtu.be/a-dl5MrfouI Best Kiss: The Wedding Singer The award for this one goes to The Wedding Singer, simply for introducing us to the phrase "church tongue." No one wants to be that couple looking like they need a room while standing at the altar. Watch as Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler perfect the art of a perfectly sweet and appropriate wedding kiss in this scene. Best Wedding Surprise: Pop-Up Serenade in Love Actually Question: what could be more exciting than saying your "I dos" and turning to walk back up the aisle, only to be stopped by an impromptu serenade? Answer: nothing, that's what. This is one of our favorite scenes in a movie filled with favorite scenes (by the way, does anyone else share the opinion that a romantic comedy + a Christmas movie = basically the best thing ever?) And here's a fun fact: this scene was inspired by the funeral of beloved puppeteer Jim Henson, which Richard Curtis, the writer/director of Love Actually attended. At the funeral, all of the puppeteers brough their Muppets and sang a song to pay tribute to Jim. * yep, that's the guy from The Walking Dead! Best Soundtrack: My Best Friend's Wedding Arguably one of the best romantic comedies of all time, this movie has too many good scenes to pick one, so we're going to give it the award of best soundtrack. The restaurant scene where the entire cast breaks into a chorus of "Say a Little Prayer" is worth the price of admission alone. Watch it below and rest assured that there are plenty of other worthy musical moments in this '90s gem that has so far stood up remarkably well to the test of time. And for what it's worth, Love Actually ranks a close second for best soundtrack! Best Wedding Photography: Carrie's Vogue Photoshoot in Sex and the City We’d expect nothing less from TV’s ultimate fashionista, Carrie Bradshaw. But still, the epic montage scene from the first Sex and the City movie showing Carrie in several designer gowns, each one more gorgeous than the last, plays like a fantasy dream sequence for brides-to-be. Um, where do we sign up for a photoshoot with Vogue? Best Party: Any Party Attended by the Wedding Crashers Admit it: You’ve totally wanted to crash a wedding before. And that’s why every party scene in Wedding Crashers is the best wedding party movie scene. They look like they’re having so much fun! Best Wedding Stories: When Harry Met Sally So you're married, now what? Now you grow old together, and maybe one day adorably tell the story of how you met and fell in love. That's exactly what these couples do in this clip from When Harry Met Sally, which in our humble opinion is one of the best movies ever, period. Thanks for reading along! Don't forget to drop us a note with your favorite movie or scene in the comments below!
  17. By Yarai Peregrino of Memories Weddings & Events You’ve decided on Cabo as the destination for your wedding, now how do you select a venue? Fortunately Cabo has many locations to please your taste and your budget. I wanted to share with you some of my favorite venues where you may say I DO!! Hope you enjoy these suggestions. 1. Cabo Del Sol: "All in One" Cabo del Sol is an amazing location, and in my opinion it may be the only place where you get the true sense of Cabo. It combines the ocean, dessert and the uniqueness of a view at a golf course, which Cabo is well known for. From the moment you step into the Ocean Meadows, which is the most popular beach-front spot for a wedding ceremony at this venue, to the moment you see the beautiful cactus, and finally the moment you enter the Club House surrounded by the golf courses and the amazing architecture of real Hacienda, you feel the exclusivity of Los Cabos. Cabo del Sol boasts a 40,000 sq. ft. Clubhouse which has received International recognition as one of the finest contemporary clubhouses in the world . Its organic structure fuses perfectly the colonial and traditional architecture with the modern world requirements. This clubhouse offers indoor and outdoor dining, with views to the ocean but mainly to the golf courses through their spacious verandas and flowered terraces. 2. Esperanza Resort Los Cabos Mexico: Breathtaking With Amazing Energy Esperanza is a unique location that you are going to love because of the beauty of its surroundings and also because of the incredible and outstanding service that makes you feel at home. Their staff will always have beautiful smiles and will greet you with warmth, which will make you never want to go home. Imagine the waves crashing on the amazing rocks formed by the 2 coves while you say "I do" or perhaps as you dance to the romantic melody of your first song. Esperanza is a magical place not only for the beauty of the resort itself but for the beauty of its people. Esperanza Resort is an ocean-front hotel with 57 casita style rooms and suites, 60 privately owned villas and 36 private residences. It is located on the Baja California Sur Peninsula at the bluffs of Punta Ballena which overlook 2 private coves showcasing the magnificence of the Sea of Cortez. The interiors of this amazing resort feature designs of regional and original seaside art as well as handcrafted furniture displayed on private terraces with infinity edge hot bath tubs and spacious bathrooms. Their in-room amenities include flat-screen televisions, complimentary high-speed wireless internet access, iPod docking stations, all-natural rubber HarmonyTM yoga mats and signature in-room bath amenities made with natural essential oils, organic vegetable oils and pure fruit ingredients. 3. Hacidena Cocina: High End Mexican Architecture & Cuisine This is the only restaurant located in on Medano Beach in the heart of Cabo that is able to offer a private ceremony on the beach without the interruption of local vendors or water sports. You are able to feel the exclusivity of Cabo not only by the location and grounds but also by the outstanding food quality and service they offer. There is a signature restaurant that offers the combination of traditional Mexican Hacienda style architecture and casual or elegant beach-front dining. It offers open air, indoor, a terrace or a palapa area for dining with a menu that displays the different states of Mexico. It provides authentic hand-crafted dishes which are made with only the highest quality local ingredients. 4. Sunset Da Mona Lisa: Greatest View to Lands End & Cabo Bay This venue is an incredible location where you are able to enjoy the beauty of a sunset in Cabo San Lucas like no other. You will be blown away by the views you get to the Cabo San Lucas Bay at Medano Beach and Lands End while the stunning sunset colors unfold across the horizon. Once this theatrical image fades away as the sun goes down you will be able to admire the beauty of Cabo San Lucas’ lights at night while they reflect on the Ocean. It is a memorable experience you will not want to miss and will be complemented by the delightful food services at this resort. Sunset Da Mona Lisa is located at the tip of the bay Cabo San Lucas and considered an icon as it offers breathtaking views to the Sea of Cortez and the Arch, as well as the best location to enjoy the astonishing and most beautiful sunsets on the whole Peninsula. You will be able to dine on their cliff terraces while enjoying the sunset and savoring their seafood & Italian Restaurant menus with fresh seafood and homemade pasta, Italian style by their Chef, Salvatore Messina. 5. Sheraton Hacidenda del Mar: 100% Mexican Hacienda Style This hotel screams Mexico in every aspect of it! I always say that Sheraton gives the “Welcome to Mexico” feel to anyone and everyone that decides to stay there. The architecture, colors of their walls, tiles and overall decoration makes this hotel a typical Mexican Hacienda style hotel and amazing for pictures. Even though the hotel has numerous rooms, it never feels that you are in a big hotel due to the layout and breakdown of their buildings and gardens with fountains connecting them. You truly feel in a different place every time you reach a new fountain, bridge or garden. Their staff always has a BIG smile and a willingness to help. Sheraton Hacienda del Mar is a beautiful and unique Mexican Colonial Hacienda style beachfront resort. It is located within the Cabo del Sol Golf complex by the Ocean Course. This privilidged location allows for an extensive private beach with quiet private gardens and beautiful landscaping. It has 270 spacious guest rooms including 31 suites featuring a Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed, 4 swimming pools, jacuzzis and swim-up bars.
