  1. You're welcome! I was eager for pics and info when I was planning so I'm happy to share. And thanks for the nice comments on my pics! I don't have many pics of the cocktail tables. They were tall tables draped with white fabric and the hotel supplied clear vases then filled them with some of the flowers from the pomanders. You can sort of see it in this pic. And here's a pic that shows the dance floor (please excuse the groom dancing by himself. haha.) They set it up with the dance floor in the middle, 2 round tables on either side, the buffet at the back and the sweetheart table at the front (facing the buffet but separated by the dance floor) One note about the buffet: in addition to the wedding cake or cupcakes that you get, they also supply a whole table of desserts. It's really so much food. We didn't get to eat much of it but the guests said everything was really good. We sadly didn't get to taste any of the cocktail hour food and I wanted to try some of those things!
  2. I do actually! I'm going to be selling a bunch of stuff, just haven't had a chance to take inventory and post it all yet. But I have a ton of fans left because I bought 85 from another BDW bride and I only used 35. I'll sell them for $1 each (which is what I paid the other bride) and free shipping if you're in the US. Sometime this week I hope to post everything I have available.
  3. Kinda like ugly babies. You're supposed to pretend there are no ugly babies, but sometimes you see one that challenges that idea!
  4. Most resorts do charge a setup fee. Usually nothing too crazy-- I paid $50 for my wedding, but I think it ranges and can go higher.
  5. Hey there! Congrats on picking a resort!! Not sure if you already checked here, but the ROR threads might help answer your questions. Looks like there are a bunch of posts on recent weddings at the Riu. Click around and see! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/70511/ror-brides-riu-ocho-rios Hope that helps, and good luck!!
  6. I haven't done this but I know brides have had amazing things to say about villa weddings. Here's a recent article on villa weddings in Mexico. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/a/planning-a-villa-wedding-in-mexico and a thread on villa weddings in Jamaica: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/72888/villa-weddings-brides-jamaica But I digress. I know you mentioned wanting the house AFTER the wedding for you/your guests. I've stayed in rented houses with people before and I think it's best to email everyone a few house options at various price points to get votes. Then you can choose a house based on how many people are in and how much they are willing to spend. Since most houses require a deposit, I'd split that up among everyone who is interested in staying so they are all on the hook for the house, and then split all the costs equally. In the past we've had a few people get all the groceries, then just bring the receipts so we can all chip in after the fact. We also split up cooking and cleaning duties. Good luck-- sounds like it'll be fun!!
  7. Is he the type to dress up? Some cufflinks might be nice, or if he carries business cards maybe a monogrammed business card holder? Here are some nice card holders with an option to monogram. Click here. With either gift I might pair it with a gift card or something small from the registry. That way you're getting something you know he wants, since he registered for it, plus something personal.
  8. I never saw myself in a black dress-- probably cause we were getting married at daytime on the beach and black seems so formal. But I definitely think a black gown can be a nice choice in the right setting. Vera Wang even has a whole line of black gowns. She's the queen of weddings and if she says it goes, I have to agree! It can look elegant and vintage in some cases! Just for fun I pulled a few of my favorite looks in black. I have no idea why she looks so surly. She must be hungry. (This is from the Vera Wang black collection) More Vera: So elegant! It's not all doom and gloom-- this bride brought color into her bouquet!

  10. Hi there! Not sure if you've already checked the forums, but you may want to take a look at the Dreams Riviera thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/47576/dreams-riviera-cancun-brides-post-here-new-thread I didn't get married there so I can't offer much help, just wanted to point you in that direction if you weren't already aware. Good luck!!
  11. Ha these are so cute! Love the balloons and the dinosaur especially.
  12. I didn't have a veil or headpiece at all. Sorta wish I did, at least for a couple pics!
