Thanks! that does help. We have decided on Jamaica and we're both really excited about it. I think we're going to go with Secrets (we really like the wedding package they have) We are also considering the option of Sunset Beach for some of our guest. Our guests that are on a budget are my FIL and as of now they dont want anything to do with us and our wedding. But since we do have 2 years till it happens I was trying to think positive about this situation changing, although not very likely it will change. But thank you!

Thanks for everyones advice/tips and sorry it took so long to respond I was/still am recovering from surgery. We really want to go to Jamaica, we feel its calling out to us the more we talk about it. But we are also considering Mexico. It is cheaper but from the reading I have been doing it seems like it can be a huge headache to actually get married there. Does anyone have any experience with Mexico and weddings, as far as all the legal requirements? We are also considering the option of providing guests with the option of staying at a more affordable resort if the one we choose is out of their budget. On the other hand the people that we are worried about not coming because of cost are my FIL and due to some recent issues we are having with them we would be very surprised if they were to even attend regardless of where it was. With that being said we will continue with our resort search

Hi All! I'm new to this site. My FI and I got engaged 4 months ago and we decided on a destination wedding. We are currently thinking of secrets wild orchid but have yet to make up our minds. Which is fine since we wont be getting married till 2014 (We have loads of time!). I've been looking at all the resorts in Jamaica and so far love secrets. The problem is, is that my FI family and friends are on a low budget so I'm not sure if they would be able to afford it. We're also not sure if we should go with the TA route or do it ourselves. We're in the GTA area so if anyone knows any good TA or have any suggestions and tips would be great!! I should mention that my FI and I have never gone to any kind of resort before and we're pretty excited about going.
