I've been to Jamaica twice. Once was to the Iberostar Rose Hall Suites. It is very hard to find a five star resort for less than $1500 there. You might have better luck with the Gran Bahia Runaway Bay or the Riu Montego Bay. My family has been to both and enjoyed them!

Hi Amber, I'm also look at the Esmeralda for the first week of May 2013. I've had a hard time finding info from other brides on this resort. Just waiting for my TA to get some pricing to me by next week. I received their wedding package information so I've begun to sort through all of that. Have you been to Punta Cana before?

I have a friend abroad as well. So she is looking in England for something. I went to the paint store and got paint chips of the tones of dresses they can look for. Various shades of nude. That way they can keep it in their purse when they are out and about and colour match if they find something. I have suggested the girls to look around at their favourite stores. Places like H&M, Zara, Aritzia, Mendocino ... the list goes on. Basically anywhere that sells a dress. I also said we could look around at Bridal Stores if we need to. I know David's Bridal has printed dresses. Have you checked there? What colour scheme are you going with?

Welcome Jade! I'm from Toronto too and I'm also looking at May 2013 - DR. I just spoke with a TA the other day. I'm getting quotes for the following resorts 1. Gran Bahia Esmeralda 2. Majestic Elegance 3. Dreams Punta Cana 4. Riu Bavaro Have you been to the DR before or any other islands? I am going with neutrals for my wedding party Are you on Pinterest? Lots to look at there! I've decided to do neutrals for my BM's. I found some really nice pictures on Pinterest for inspiration. I've picked nude for the colour, it seems to be everywhere. I am allowing them to find their own style dress (good inspiration on Pinterest for this as well). My only requirement is that they get my approval, but I know they will do a fab job at finding their own.

Your welcome! Yes, you use a water bottle. It's better than taking a chance and getting sick. You should only drink bottled water there. They always have bottles in your room that are safe to drink. I always recommend seeing your doctor and make sure you are up to date on any shots (hep, malaria, etc.), and it never hurts to get prescribed some medication incase you get stomach sick. It's best to be prepared when you go to the Caribbean. I have never had problems anywhere, but there are people out there who have.

I have been to Mexico, Bahamas, Dominican, Cuba, Aruba and Jamaica. Dominican is lovely and has an amazing stretch of beach. The only downsides are the language barrier (which is not a big deal) and you cannot drink the water (even for brushing your teeth). Mexico is my least favourite. Jamaica is my all time favourite! I just spoke to a wedding specialist at Marlin Travel. She ranked my resort choices in the following order, Gran Bahia Esmeralda, Majestic Elegance, Gran Bahia Ambar (adults only). Gran Bahia seems to have great prices and is beautiful. Everyone that I know goes there has nothing but good things to say.

I am also thinking about May 2013! So exciting My TA told me not to book the first 5 days of the month because this is "turn over" time. So we are looking at the second week. It is hard to pick a resort. We are stuck on Punta Cana. Looking into the Gran Bahia Principe Ambar or Esmeralda, Majestic Elegance, or Riu Palace Bavaro. Getting pricing next week. Anyone ever been to these resorts?
