  1. If you could share that info on the boards here, that would be awesome!
  2. I use redtag.com to get a rough estimate of airfare and accomodation combined and then go to a travel agent to get a group rate. Ours was about $300 less this way for 7 days.
  3. These are beautiful! Where did you find them. I love cobalt blue. I think it will look stunning.
  4. Congrats! The Majestic is an excellent choice. We are all booked with our travel agent to secure our group rate (a good way to go) and now our guests have 90 days to put their deposits in. They can of course book on their own, but it is unlikely they will get a better price. Securing the date and deciding on your reception venue is the hardest part. Once you have that info you can get your invites out and then it's pretty simple after that! Have fun and try not to stress too much. You are going to have an amazing "week-long" wedding!
  5. Tell them you put in a request (no guarantees) and tell your TA to make sure you are actually in another location/get upgraded to a room faaaaaar away! lol
  6. Hi Britt, I'm doing a reception at the Parrot's Bar ... after our free dinner at the Sea and See. I plan to do Cake, Speeches, Cocktails and Dancing during that time 8:30-11:00. So that's $300 + $250 + 16% gratuity, and $15/person + 26% gratuity for bar/hour. I haven't inquired yet, but there is a chance you can get wine, beer, and juice/pop for free. If that is the case ... I won't bother with the bar upgrade.
  7. I know your frustration!!! When I booked our wedding they could only offer me one time as well .... 1:00. I really want 4:00pm or later. By chance are you having a symbolic wedding? I'm hoping I can somehow get it changed. Even if that means changing the date of the wedding by a day or two.
  8. Ah thank you so much for those photos. How did you find these? They are so helpful!
  9. We are flying with Air Transat. Their vacation packages are out for May 2013.
  10. I'm working on my formal invites this weekend. Hope to get them out this week. We have a group rate that expires in 90 days. There are bonus' to getting a quote this early. So, my guests have 90 days to pay a deposit of $300. The rest is due in November. Otherwise guests can book at their convenience, but the price is subject to change. My TA was able to get pricing for the whole package - flight and accomodations! So you might want to go that route!
  11. Congratulations and welcome to the group. I booked through my travel agent and she has reserved 50 seats on our flight for 90 days. So if my guests book within this time frame they get the group rate, which has been quoted at $1380/per person - that is direct from Toronto. We also get a one time price adjustment should the price go down. Otherwise they can book on their own, anytime they want, but there is no guarantee that space will be available if they choose to wait. I would talk with your FI and decide what location you want your ceremony and the type of reception/dinner you want, because those locations need to be booked as well You might have already done this though. Just wanted to throw it out there!
  12. I found this good picture from a wedding reception at the Parrot's Bar. What locations hold over 50 people? http://staceywightblog.ca/2010/02/kate-wes-wedding-majestic-colonial-resort-punta-cana/
  13. Help! I'm finishing up my boarding pass invites. I don't know what options I should put on the RSVP card. So far I have: Yes, save us ____ beach chairs! Sorry, we sunburn easily! I need a third option for people who can't commit this far in advance, but have interest in coming. Anyone have any ideas? Or alternate ideas for the sunburn one ... not sure about this one, got it from a template!
  14. We are staying at the Majestic Elegance - in Punta Cana. Our travel agent is through Marlin Travel (in Walmart) and we got a group rate for $1380 for a 7 night stay. When I look up the price on redtag.ca it is going for $1600ish. So we really lucked out. Tour operator is Transat Vacations, which I have always liked flying with.
  15. I'm sending out formal invitation next week too. Our group rate (which is really great) is only good for 90 days. So I want to give everyone lots of notice to pay their deposits. It is hard to plan vacations this far in advance for guests though, but everything gets booked up so fast ... don't really feel like I had a choice!
  16. This is sooo pretty, love the pop of colour. Where is it from? Were there other options for colour?
  17. We will be there the 5th-12th ... we are getting married on the 9th. It's so exciting!!!
  18. Ahhh ... I don't know!!! I'm having a hard time deciding this. It is really hard to tell from these photos. I'm also now considering the beach, maybe it would be even more private and it's only an extra $100. I'm hoping to do our cake at this location and then have drinks and dance. So we will rent the sound system and use our own ipod, instead of DJ. Then for bar ... I think you can get Juice, Pop, Beer and Wine for free, but if you want more options than you have to pay per person. So I need to sort that out with my FI and see what he thinks. We would do the basic bar if we go that route. Have you made an decisions. I would like to hear from someone who has already tried one of these locations and get some feedback! What are your thoughts?
  19. The flower girl tutu is soooooo precious!!! I love it.
  20. Make sure you check with your resort on this. In Punta Cana I have to show them our marriage certificate when we arrive. We have to be married before we go down.
