We decided to do a symbolic ceremony because we wanted pastor Rick york to preform the service. He speaks perfect English is funny professional and so easy to get ahold of. As apposed to having a service provided by a judge there in Spanish and translated into English by a wedding Cordinator who im assuming also doesn't speak clearly. This was most important to OUR ceremony but everyone has different views!!! if you want to actually get married on that day you will have to get into contact with the Domincian republic embassy or consulate of Canada: http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/dominican_republic-republique_dominicaine/consular_services_consulaires/Marriages-Mariage.aspx?view=d (I don't know to much about it since we never really did to much research) but I'm sure it's not cheap! All of your paperwork- birth certificate I'm pretty sure is the long form version you need and any prior marriage Devore papers name changes widow ect has to be legit translated in order for DR to recognize the marriage. So all of your documents have to be mailed there translated and both copies mailed back. Im pretty sure You have to arrive in the DR at least 3 full business days before your wedding day. Our resort has a fee of almost 500 for the legal ceremony I'm assuming for the judge and paperwork fees. Then once your home the DR will mail you your marriage certificate- side note I have a friend who got married in punta Cana July 2011 and didn't receive her certificate in the mail until 9 months later so all of the official name changing and what not got put onto hold) once you receive it then you ship that to Toronto as well to be translated and then once you have your English version back you can proceed to make it official here in Ontario. We are getting married 2 weeks before we leave for our trip just signing the paper at the court house it costs 350 bucks and then we dont have to worry about it. Its actually kinda funny to me some people gave me a hard time about getting married before we leave because "that's y they are coming on the trip, to see us get married) pshhhhhh because even couples getting married here you have to get your marriage license like a week ahead of time That's the legal binding marriage license and then all of the other paperwork done oN the day of the wedding in the church or whereever is the "symbolic" side of a marriage anyways. We are getting married April 25th 2013. It's coming up sp fast. I'm starting to feel overwhelmed with all of these DIY projects I want to do. All of our final trip payments are due march 1st so I will be able to do more finalized planning once I know how many are coming for sure. My shower is on January 20th. We are doing a breakfast at Tiffany's theme and then our stag and Doe is in march. I need to take these parties one a a time or I'm going to go crazy. Happy happy planning-

Do it! We are having one there are still wedding costs associated with destination weddings! If not more. And it's also a vacation for your guests not just "your wedding" -just my opinion

We are having a large number of people coming to our weding and wanted to take care of all the booking early on- were leaving from Toronto to punta Cana for 1118. We booked last July and are getting married in April. I don't even want to look at the flight prices now they are Probley way cheaper!!

your wedding group contract (which means all of your guests booking together under one contact) has to collect 75 room nights or 11 rooms for a week. This will provide you with 3 hours a day of private parties (1 hour cocktail-2 hours dinner) anything above and beyond those hours you pay per table for service per hour. And that just includes there standards linens and table set ups.

well my wire transfer bounced back due to "account closed!!!" all the banking info flori gave me has been closed and I paid 35us to wire that 850$ deposit there, like i dont have extra money to just be throwing around due to there stupidity. So I'm taking my 850$ deposit money and looking into the jellyfish- what a disaster! Like thanks for informing me that you had new banking information BEFORE I made my deposit! I have a feeling the pervious owners sold the boat and now its heading downhill fast! P.s I saw some pictures that I think we're recent and the upper level white couches looked like there getting dirty and the white marine plastic is all stained. I wonder how the service level will be affected without flori there as manager. :mad:

i just checked out the blog, Looks amazing! my HUGE dress is going to be a little tricky trying to get onto the small transfer boat but i will manage lol. So the chairs in those pictures are not the ones they are using currently? they look plastic as well? i had seen the tables in other pictures and i thought i liked them but I'm now wondering weather or not i should rent table cloths too

like come on- they changed the chairs, really!?? nothing with this wedding is working out smoothly so far.
