Congratulations! I see you're getting married at Now Jade...we just came back from there in April and had a great time! Lynn

We're getting married May 4, 2013 and we did a group block of 32 rooms, as we are expecting 60-70 people. One of the things I liked about Destinationweddings.com is that from the time I signed the contract, I had 30 days before the full amount of the room deposit was due. For example, with 32 rooms blocked a deposit of $200 per room had to be paid. So by the end of the 30-day period we needed to have $6400 paid from deposits. As people booked their room, their deposit was deducted from the $6400 owed. And if all the deposits aren't paid by the end of the 30-day period we can release the rooms and not have any additional responsibility. What I didn't want was to have to put up the $6400 myself and then have it credited back to me as people paid. As Sheryl mentioned, people procrastinate! This option worked really well for me but I have to say I sent out an initial email to everyone telling them the rates and the room block. Then I sent out 2 more reminder emails within the month. The actual last day to book is 6/4/12 but I told everyone it was a week earlier (5/28/12) because I knew there would be several that wouldn't have their stuff together! LOL And inevitably, I was right. With the holiday being Monday, several people forgot so on Tuesday I made telephone calls and as of now we have about 23 rooms booked. I'm sure by Monday the additional 7 will be booked as well. As Sheryl mentioned, the group booking is awesome because you get so many amenities and perks with it. But in addition, because these resorts usually are booked to capacity, if EPM is oversold, they will start sending people to their sister properties if they don't have enough rooms. They won't do that with group bookings. Your TA can advocate for you to make sure everyone stays together at EPM! Hope that helps. If anyone needs a referral for TA, PM me and I can give you her #. She's awesome! Lynn

Ladies has anyone booked with HDC Photography (Huellas del Caribe)? I found them on the photographer review page on this website...they're listed as #1 and they have great rates! They're based out of Dominican Republic but when I spoke with the owner via email he said they do travel to Mexico and in fact he was shooting a wedding in Cancun this past weekend. Just wondering if anyone up here had used them (or planning to) and what your experience was like. Lynn

I believe you can put helium in them but i'm not sure if helium would be readily available. I sent Nayeli an email asking her about the balloons and helium but we all know how long it will take for me to get a response! LOL I like your idea just as well about letting them blow in the wind so I think I'll just purchase them anyway...I figure even if I can't use them for the wedding, I entertain enough that I'll use them for some other function!

Ladies do any of you know if balloons are allowed at the cocktail hour or reception venues? I saw these light up balloons http://halfoffdepot.com/national/catalog/product/view/id/9880/s/two-packs-of-12-multicolored-led-balloons-with-free-shipping-10-balloons.html and thought they might be nice decoration to have. We're expecting about 60 guests so we're planning to do the Ceco Terrace (Event Terrace).

Sorry we're still a year out so I don't have answers about how many options are available. However, I would suggest putting a couple bucks on a calling card or Skype account and calling her. I send her emails when I don't need an answer from her right away; but I've called her several times when I needed to get an answer to a question (like what dates in May were available; and then again to book the date we wanted) and I've always gotten her on the phone when I've called and been able to get my question answered. The cost on my Skype account was like ten cents per minute and I talked to her for no more than 5-10 minutes each time so literally it only cost me a buck or two to call her and saved me a TON of peace of mind. We have hired Adrian Herrerra for our wedding in May 2013. I've been communicating with Hiram in their office and he has been a dream to work with so far! He's very responsive (no more than 1 day to reply to an email-usually the same day) and personable. I've been emailing him for the past month with MANY questions and he has been very patient and accommodating with me. Lynn

Congratulations on your wedding! I'm so sorry things went the way they did, but you have the perfect attitude! I'm glad you stood your ground and made them switch out the flowers. I can't wait to see your pictures!!! How many guests did you have? Did you do one of the packages and if so which one? Would it be possible to see your planner to get an estimate on the pricing for certain items? Lynn

I talked to Nayeli this morning and I should have sent you a message to call her right then when I hung up with her. I'm SO sorry I didn't but I was at the hair salon and I got distracted and forgot to send you a message. I actually put $10 into my Skype account and used Skype from my cell phone and just kept calling her office until I got her. I started calling at 10am their time and didn't reach her until about 12:30pm. She confirmed the date for me and answered a couple of questions. That might be the best way to just try and keep calling down there if you can. Each time I called I only stayed on the phone with the person for about 2 minutes if she wasn't there so those calls only cost about $.20. I think Skype charges $.10 per minute. I'd be happy to help you call tomorrow if you want. If you want to PM me some of your questions and I can try and help you get them answered. That's if you don't hear from her by then of course. Lynn
