  1. It's literally to take my own vase and sand and set it up. I think it's really stupid as I could have someone set it up for me. I also asked about other set up fees and she wanted to know what exactly I wanted to set up. I said oh I don't know yet, but curious if it was dependent upon that. Roxi told me the set up fee is dependent on what is being set up. I've heard from past brides to not say anything to the WC about your own stuff to set up then just let the onsite WC know. You can usually get those fees waived. However, the sand ceremony is not a waived fee for set up. Emagana~ Do you have a TA? When I booked my room through my TA, he sent me a price list.
  2. Ok ladies, just had my first planning session with Roxi. She was really nice and explained the process of pretty much how everything goes. Our conversation was about 30 minutes and no pressure at all to add stuff. We talked about the documents needed and she explained that they can't be notarized until 90 days before your wedding, but they need to be mailed within 60 days. So that gives us a month to get them notarized and mailed off with no late fees. That was good to know as the 90 days was new to me. She also let me know my options for add ons etc and how things would go for ceremony and reception. I did let her know we wanted the beach ceremony location with the BB theme. I did ask about the sand ceremony and bringing my own container. It's a $50 set up fee to bring our own and it' recommended to bring your sand so you get the exact colors you want. My wedding day is a Sunday so my times are extremely limited. I'm having a 10am wedding with a lunch/brunch reception after. Sundays are the only days where things end early and no late afternoon options are available. I really like only having a few options and picking from that. Roxi pretty much covered all my questions in her spiel. It was a nice laid back conversation since I still have over a year until our wedding. I'm all giddy again!
  3. Thank you! We actually just sent them as a postcard. On the back was the info...please join us and the rsvp online. Super easy and super cheap.
  4. Yes I will definitely post about it on Saturday. I don't think I have many questions, but will share how it goes. I know I'm going to ask about the day passes. I've heard they are different times like a day pass and then a night pass. I probably ask about prices as I want to bring our own stuff for the sand ceremony. My TA was really helpful, so I don't have many more questions. I'm excited though! I'n sorta just washing my hands of it if people want to book at another resort. It sucks, I won't get the number of rooms booked for free stuff. I'm just happy they are trying to make it down. I probably won't make them an OOT bag since I don't know when I will see them. If it's on the wedding day only, I won't be thinking about getting them a bag. I've been watching Bridezillas and am very happy that I am not that kind of person. I ordered my bouquet and am anxiously waiting for that to come in. Should be here early August. I know I have over a year, but I decided to knock as much out as possible. If I love my bouquet, I'm going to order the rest of the parties flowers. I'll keep you posted on that as well.
  5. I've read this entire thread and not one person said they had regrets using Beaches. They all loved it and want to go back. I've also heard that the Italian village is packed with kids and the Caribbean has the least amount of kids. Not sure if that helps. I honestly wouldn't worry about your guests, let them worry about themselves. You focus on your wedding! We are going to use the bb package and upgrade items that we want instead of getting a more expensive package. I also get my phone session this Saturday. Of course I can't find my list with questions.
  6. I emailed my TA and it looks like Roxi called him instead of me. It's all figured out and they now have my information. My new appointment is for July 7th.
  7. Beth I think you send in copies of everything and take the originals with you. I pulled this from an email from my TA. Do you need to know what the specific documents are? The attached “wedding information and license processing form “should be completed and mailed in along with the couple’s notarized documents to the address listed on the form. (Please advise clients to hand carry the original documents to the resort). I have also attached a copy of the affidavit for single status, which should be filled out, notarized and mailed along with the documents if either of the couple have not being married before.
  8. I was assuming that she would call me, and well she never did. That's not a great way to start out. I am going to get in touch with my TA since he was the one who told me about the appointment.
  9. I have my first phone call with Roxi on Wednesday. I have a few things I'm going to ask about. Anyone have anything they want me to ask? Also for any 2013 brides, I'm going to continue passing the starfish if anyone is interested. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/19677/starfish-passing-thread/1360
  10. I actually bought this starfish brooch that is pictured above for my wedding. It's not until Oct 13 so I have no problems getting it started and passing it around.
  11. Forgot to say, thank you so much for the info on photography. I want the ceremony covered and it's good to know that Beaches photography is getting better. I'm saving up for the TTD session! It sounds like soo much fun.
  12. Thank you soo much Wendy for that review. They always help! Glad it was a fantastic time. Congrats to you both!
  13. My TA posted that they are closed until at least June 13th. And he will update as they know more. http://dreammakersvaca.com/blog.cfm
  14. The reading took me a while. I'm such a geek that I started an excel spreadsheet of notes to utilize later for my planning with links and pictures. Not really sure what you need to be aware of. Bugs? The possibility of rain? Read through this thread and you won't regret it.
  15. It's really up to you and what you want. If you read the Beaches Turks and Caicos Roll Call thread there is a lot of information on what past brides did. All of beaches themes are Martha Stewart and just pick what suits you and your FI the best. For me, I'm doing the beautiful beginnings with some items upgraded such as the arch. Good luck and have fun with it.
  16. Congrats!!! Lots of ladies here went with Tropical Imaging. I've read nothing but rave reviews about them especially Ileana. I just found out that the prices on their site don't reflect their wedding prices, so you need to email them to get it. They also require a 50% deposit. http://www.brilliant.tc/ Some of my family are thinking about staying at Club Med. It's not far from Beaches and is another all inclusive. http://www.clubmed.us/cm/resort-turkoise-turks-caicos_p-115-l-US-v-TURC-ac-vh.html This thread has soo much great information! It's a long read but very informative.
  17. Great thread with lots of useful info. Thanks so much! Sorry I have no templates to share yet.
  18. Ok so I have some questions. I have a vistaprint deal that's expiring so it's now time to find out the how too's. Did you buy labels for the first aid kits? Did you use the oversize postcard or print the label yourself for the survival kit? I'll figure all this out soon enough.
  19. Thanks. I saw some at Costco for $39 so very good price indeed! Loved your pics btw on fb! Looked like soo much fun. I can't believe I still need to wait a year and 4months. Ahhhh, but damn we need to save money.
  20. Thanks! I also forgot to mention that since I'm "high risk" now and recently off birth control I realized that my luteal phase wasn't lasting. My temp would rise for a few days then then plummet down which usually indicates a progesterone deficiency. I recently started taking Emerta pro-gest cream twice a day and actually have a complete luteal phase! I take it when I ovulate until day 26. If you're not pregnant then you stop taking the pro-gest and let your cycle start. If you are pregnant keep taking it and make a dr appt asap. You might have to be on progesterone until the 2nd trimester when the placenta takes over. I feel like every month I'm getting my body more balanced. Hopefully soon. Keep charting your cycles as they can tell you a lot of what is going on with you body. I also use the fertility friend app and website to track my cycles. I should also say that I'm an acupuncturist and working on specializing in women's health especially fertility issues. So, I'm no expert but can help if anyone needs it.
  21. Thanks! I'm almost tempted to get my own snorkel gear so I can use it whenever. I hope you get your pics soon!
  22. That is really helpful Jess! Thank you. That's great info about the snorkeling. Was it easy to rent the snorkel gear? And you could take it off the Beaches beach? Did you use Tropical Imaging? Was it amazing? I actually got in a fight with my mom over my wedding dress. My future in laws were in town and we had my first ever try on wedding dresses. Well my mom got pissed that it wasn't with her and it was with my soon to be mother in law. I had to keep telling myself that this is my wedding. That's my new mantra! I'm not a selfish person, but I can be selfish about my wedding.
  23. Hi ladies! First off congrats to those who are expecting and/or had your child. To those still TTC, I feel your pain. I've been with my FI 5 for 51/2 years and we're finally getting married in Oct 2013. I had an iud then went to the pill and got off everything in Sept. We weren't trying then as we were waiting for my body to have a few cycles. Sadly, I miscarried in January and have been ttc actively since. I also can't recommend Taking Charge of Your Fertility enough. I've known about this book for years and it really does help you get to know your body. I'm currently 36 and our wedding is a year and half away. I really don't want to be pregnant for our wedding, but I also don't want to stop TTC. I would gladly go with a newborn baby! I already have a 9 year old daughter, so traveling with a baby is nothing new to me. I have family on the east coast and I'm on the west coast, so we'd travel frequently to see them. Another great tidbit is taking Evening Primrose Oil if you don't have the eggwhite cm. You only take it from menstruation until you ovulate. Once you ovulate, you stop taking it. If you still want to take an essential fatty acid, you can substitute with flax seed oil from ovulation to menstruation. I am trying the OPK for the first time along with my BBT. I would love nothing more than to get knocked up now and have a new addition to our family for our wedding! So hello and good luck ladies!
