  1. I have already purchased another dress actually. It is made out of purely chiffon unlike my original dress. Even without the train I feel it's going to be too heavy for me personally. The new dress barely feels like any material which I love, but thanks for the suggestion!!
  2. do you know the style number? The pictures are so small you can't really see the dress.
  3. Thank you. I really do agree with you. I am going to leave it to him and I know he is pretty much 99.9% decided on not sending them an invitation. I think I need to not worry about it and move on with my planning. Thanks for your story--it's nice to know I'm not the only one with this dilemma!
  4. That's super cute!! See I like all proposal stories because they are unique to the couple!
  5. Thank you! Your story made me laugh because I would say the same thing! "That's not how you propose!" I'm glad he did it the "right" way later. Although, I'm realizing there isn't truly a "right" way. Hope your planning is going well!
  6. I will be shipping my centerpieces and some other decor to my wedding coordinator. Not sure why most people would look into UPS and what not to ship (too expensive) I will be using flat rate boxes through the USPS to send them to St. Maarten. I use to send my FI care packages in Iraq this way and never had an issue!
  7. My friend did these at her wedding in Cabo and it was BEAUTIFUL! We are waiting for approval from our resort to do them as well.
  8. I believe I am going with Bloom Bridal too. I cannot wait to place my order!
  9. What are you girls doing for a guest book? We had FI's last name printed in beach looking letters and are having our guests sign the matting around the picture and will frame it and hang it in our home. I got it from a girl on Etsy and I LOVE it. I wanted to do puzzle pieces but I think people are CRAZY for charging so much for it!
  10. I like those colors together! We are doing a mix of tropical colors green, pink, orange, blue and a touch of yellow.
  11. We will be spending the entire week with all of our guests because of the same reason. I felt guilty leaving them during the week. We will then take a honeymoon to a different island by ourselves when our guest fly back to Houston. That way we get our time in with them and ourselves. Our family is timeshare owners so it is much easier and cheaper for us to do this-if we had to pay regular resort fees there is not way we'd take 2 weeks!
  12. We do the bank account thing too. Every week $50.00 goes from my pay check and every 2 weeks $100 goes from his pay check into our shared savings account. That way we save $400 a month towards wedding costs. I think it has been very helpful because it's not a TON of money at once.
  13. I will def. be getting my FI and groom present to be delivered by our groomsmen the day of our wedding. I will most likely be getting him an really nice engraved watch. He is obsessed with watches (as he says they are his only accessory lol). He gets a new watch every Christmas but never anything crazy. I think starting the tradition of a new nice watch on our wedding day is great. I will probably engrave it with something to do about time..."It's about time" "Till the end of time" or possibly something between the two of us. I will decide closer to the date!
  14. Thanks for the information. I was trying to convince my family we could go to Cabo but I was shot down. The map info is very helpful.
  15. Thanks for posting it for others to check out. People can do their own research to find out what is going on thanks to your post. Glad to hear the resort has opened back up though--how stressful! Pam I really think she was merely trying to help out other brides who may be going there not to stir up anything. Everyone keep calm and marry on
  16. However, adding to that--I'm not sure that having a back up plan with a TA is a bad idea?
  17. I am trying to decide whether to use a TA as well. Our family are timeshare owners so right now we are trying to secure 3 timeshare units at our location to try to help with costs of accommodations. If I can book all of them I will only pay $450 for 15 people to stay in a 5 star resort for a week instead of thousands of dollars or asking my guests to pay. I'm not sure if I need a TA only for flights..
  18. Fantastic tips! I love your invites they are super cute. Thanks for sharing
  19. Thanks Shannon-I agree. I was telling someone that asked me how he proposed last week and she made me feel kind of dumb and unimportant basically implying it wasn't good enough and said "well that's some engagement story". I was a little offended.
