  1. I spent the months prior to my wedding obsessed with making tissue paper bouquets to go with my Mexican theme, but when I got the resort last week, I gave in. I chose one of the free bouquets with an assortment of colors to match my bridesmaid dresses, and I absolutely loved it. I wish I hadn't spent so much time worrying about it.
  2. A special thank you to those that mentioned the windiness of beach weddings and suggested a waltz length veil. I purchased mine on lightinthbox.com. It came just as a piece of fabric and I had to sew my own comb on, but I love the way that it looked in pictures. It was definitely windy, and there were a couple of moments that it got a little out of control, but man, does it ever look pretty in pictures:
  3. We're back, and it was perfect and amazing!! I'll post a full review as soon as I have more pictures, but here is a preview:
  4. I got the same email and I'm getting married in 12 days.... I really, REALLY hope they get it all worked out.
  5. I haven't heard that they are going to put it back, but I'll be there in 13 days to check out all of the reception locations, so I'll let you know what I find out.
  6. My travel agent is Wendy at Wright Travel, and she has been awesome. We invited 43 people thinking we would maybe get 25 to come, but there are 38 people confirmed with their rooms all paid and flights all booked. I originally booked a block of 11 rooms and paid the deposit for all of them and then as the guests confirmed and paid, the deposit was credited to my room. I have had to do very little as far as worrying about guest arrangements. They all booked their own flights and emailed with Wendy to book their rooms. I highly recommend Wright Travel.
  7. I just got an email from my WC regarding Playa Azul. We are getting married on October 20th, but as of last week when they had hurricane threats in Riviera Maya, the palapa at Playa Azul has been removed from the beach. It is now just a big open space in the sand for our reception. She is sending me the other reception options, but I thought I would give others a heads up that you may want to be thinking about this too. Really hopeful that there is another pretty space available. Fingers Crossed!
  8. Thank you! I think you actually look great with a veil with your hair down. I ordered a cheap veil online and just received it last week, but I still haven't decided whether or not to wear it. I should probably try out a couple of things and figure it out soon.
  9. I bought it here: http://www.wedding-dress-bee.com/ They were fantastic and emailed me the whole time it was being made. I don't know if I just got lucky or if they are that good all the time, but I had a great experience with them.
  10. I don't right now and it is with the seamstress having the bustle put in. I go pick it up on September 29th and I'll post some then. When I dropped it off, the seamstress told me it was one of the best made dresses she has seen from a custom made site, so I feel really lucky.
  11. Are there any past brides out there that ran into rain on the day of the wedding? My WC hasn't mentioned anything about a back up location in the event it rains (or hurricanes-my wedding is October 20th) during our wedding and I'm hoping there is someone out there that could share their experience.
  12. I just purchased this this morning: http://www.lightinthebox.com/one-tier-tulle-waltz-veil-more-colors_p323158.html It was only $25 after shipping, so I figure if it doesn't look good, I won't feel awful about the money spent. Light in the box is doing half price shipping but today is the last day for it....
  13. I have 22 of these tote bags for sale from www.cheaptotes.com. Brand new-never used. They are great bags, but I ordered them and then decided to go a different route for our welcome/OOT bags. Paypal only-Buyer pays shipping.
  14. One of my best friends got married at the resort in 2010 and since she was living in Germany and we were all coming from the states, I threw her bachelorette party in Mexico so we could all be there. We went to Blue Parrot: http://www.blueparrot.com/beach-club/ and a couple other places near it. I had the resort concierge book us a mini-van cab (there were 8 of us) and I think they charged us $40 round trip. They dropped us off around 8pm and then came back to pick us up at 1:30am to take us back to the resort. We had a blast and it was easy.
  15. I'm fine with just the stamp as long as you'll send them out sometime this week :-). Will you accept Paypal, and if so, what email address should I use?
  16. I'm interested in the vellum envelopes. How much to ship to 21224?
  17. We're doing the same thing. I'm too particular about the processional, but I liked the idea of having a violinist while people wait for us.
  18. We are having both our wedding and reception at Playa Azul because it is more secluded than Coral Beach, but Coral Beach is closer to the resort. In order to get to Playa Azul, they transport your guests in a bus and you in a golf cart style thing. I have attended one wedding at Barcelo Maya Palace and it was also on Playa Azul. For me, Coral Beach was too close to the other resort guests and I wasn't excited about potential strangers walking through (even though I've heard you don't notice at all). Playa Azul seems like it has more than enough room for the dance floor and screen, but I don't know about the spacing at Coral Beach. I think I would stick to your set up of getting married at Coral Beach and doing the reception at Playa Azul.
  19. What is everyone doing for the recessional? Are you having the guests toss flower petals? blow bubbles? I'm looking for ideas on this one. I'm worried flower petals are going to be expensive, and I'm too nervous about customs to try to bring dried petals with me. Also, I bought sky lanterns before I knew they weren't allowed at the resort. We have been considering taking them with us anyway as a just in case, but I'm not sure I want to do that since they'll take up so much space in our luggage. Should I just sell them?
