  1. I actually purchased them off Etsy. They have tons on there!
  2. Not just for the mugs, but discount mugs.com had tons of totes and bags that you could check out... I ordered all my stuff from there!
  3. I I think we actually all need to do this. I don't mean to cause alarm, but my guests weren't sick in the traditional Mexico way 😉 they were really sick with sinus infections, flu like symptoms. It all makes sense if basically there were germs left on the bar glasses so ultimately everyone was swapping germs. My dad was literally so sick after the father daughter dance he literally left my reception and he is anything but a wimp.... Could all be unrelated, but who knows...
  4. They did not have one in the room, not sure if you could rent one somewhere from the resort or maybe bring a cord and play one from a laptop attached to the tv?
  5. Hey Everyone! I just posted my review... You should be able to find it her... http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/now-jade-riviera-cancun/reviews/7230 Let me know if you have any questions!
  6. Honestly that is a good point about the glasses- I heard many of my guests making the same comments, and for what it is worth, I had a bunch of guests get sick that week. At the time we thought something was just traveling around but who knows... I'd say to bring your own!
  7. Hey! If your budget is around there, I would highly recommend checking out Del Sol. They have packages that fall in that range and I am beyond obsessed with their work... Patiently waiting for my photos
  8. In terms of the food, it was good. I said good, not great. But keep in mind this is an all-inclusive resort and I have been to many of them and I can't say that I have ever had great food at one. The specialty restaurants are better than good. I was worried about this too but honestly none of my guests complained. Remember that it is about the experience and your guests will like the ease of not having to pay per meal or drink which can really add up... Overall, don't worry about the reviews, I can assure you that unless people are trying to look for something to pick at they will have a great time and not worry about the food!
  9. Honestly I did not think they were bad at all! None of the kids minded and our guests thought they were refreshing.
  10. I would say both, clubby on the dance floor but there are also pool tables. Overall I would say more of a club and dancing feel
  11. We had 36 people, Cermony at Pergola, Cocktail and Mix Bar, and Bamboo room for reception. Originally we had picked the Ocean Terrace but I changed it before I arrived. I know others have said it seemed kind of narrow, but I actually think it would have been fine.
  12. We went to the Disco several nights. It was pretty much the same every night. It is a sports bar during the day. We went on a Monday first, and it was the final bball game. Totally dead until my group came in at about 10:00pm. We also went two other nights. One night had a bit of our group and another wedding party. It was actually pretty packed. Lots of dancing. The night of my wedding it was a small group of my own wedding and a bachelor party from Canada with some of their friends. If you want to have a good time, then you will. They play great music. I think they are open til roughly 1:30. There is also the Lobby Bar which is kind of low key and the Mix Bar by the Pergola. Plays good music, kind of loud but laid back. Never was very busy. There unfortunately are not any bars close by to go to. Your best bet would be Cancun or Playa, but pretty far unless you make a big even out of it.
  13. In terms of the wedding day, give yourself more time than you think- it is better to have everything ready than to be rushing around and alleviates a ton of stress. I think in terms of preparation, I would focus more on buying and bringing what I wanted or needed, and worried less about how it was going to look as they made everything more beautiful than I could have imagined. No problem with bringing the flowers down at all- I brought picture frames for table numbers, chair sashes, table clothes, votives, paper lanterns, candles, sea shells, a bunch of little stuff. I have been working on my review- I'm up to three pages!
  14. Although the disco was fun, I would say pretty dead until that nights wedding group made it over. However, they play great music and everyone had a great time. We did a dj and extended an hour, so by the time the wedding was over only like 10 of us went over. I think you would be fine either way.
  15. The resort was great, don't worry about the reviews. Very clean. In terms of customs you only have to declare gifts, not items used for personal use and then taken back with you. Although I guess I should have declared as the night of the wedding I looked at all my stuff, the room and told pilar to keep it all as it seemed overwhelming to bring it all back home. Great decision but I guess a gift to the hotel!
  16. Hey all! I just wanted to let you all know that we are back and everything was great! I will work on a formal review hopefully this weekend, but wanted to send out a couple things for anyone that is in the planning stages as I wish I would have known.... The resort's idea is from from ocean front- you may have a glimps of the ocean if you had binoculars- to the point that literally almost all my guests ended up upgrading to the preferred side. This made me feel a bit bad although no one really seemed to mind paying the difference and were very happy with their new rooms. If I would have know, I would have been more clear and also gotten a group rate on the preferred side from the beginning. With that being said, I also want to note that Teresa was great from vacations for less. We had a huge snow storm in Denver and I had people jumping on flights not even knowing if they would have a room when they arrived. When they landed, Teresa had taken care of it all. For those of you planning on staying at the resort after they wedding as a honeymoon, it is not really that as you run in to your friends and family everywhere, them asking you to dinner, etc. unless they are leaving early, just be prepared it may not be what you think of. Looking back now, I would have switched resorts. Honestly, that is about the only two downfalls, pilar and staff were wonderful, we did a private dinner at tamarinds which they closed for the night which was awesome, could not have been more pleased with the flowers, attention to detail, the dj, they pulled it together awesome. We used adventure photos for a ttd which was unbelievable at the cenote, really it was great!!!! Stay tuned for pages of re-cap- Oh, and they did menu cards for me without even asking in matching wedding colors!
  17. Okay, someone who has recently been to NJ please ease my concerns! So my mother arrived to the resort yesterday and granted she is not the most worldly of travelers. However, this morning I received a couple texts from her saying that the only included restuarants are the buffets, the rest take vouchers or money? I have never heard of this before and am hoping that this is not the case!!!
  18. The bartender is 350 plus tax, I provided a list to the Dj, not sure how close they will follow it and I will see you next week!
  19. Well my bags are packed and I'm ready to go!!!! And when i say bags, i mean 9!!! That will be a fun travel day for sure, especially travelling with a 3.5 year old. Wish me luck for sure! We leave Sunday to arrive for our wedding on April 12th!!! We will be there from the 8th-18th so if anyone has any questions for me, feel free to drop me a note and I will do my best to get you answers. And it appears that I will be seeing a few of you down there, I will be wedding stalking for sure! i will be sure to write a detailed review- and a huge thanks to everyone on this site- I know I couldn't have done it without you all! allison and kent
  20. In terms of the chairs, this is what I was quoted and had on my final bill😒 I think we are going to forgo them since the total was $440 for them.
  21. Sure! She quoted us $900 to I think privately rent out the tamarindo room, we got to pick a 3 course meal, champagne and a sound system for 2 hours. This is for 36 people.
  22. No surprises but it really adds up... We have 36 people, we are doing a private rehearsal dinner for $900... Our bill came to $7500!
  23. I booked dorremix previously and just got my final bill from pilar- no up charges! 😀
  24. So... I was expecting to wake up today to a discussion about the killings two days ago in Cancun... Is anyone concerned about this? CANCUN, Mexico – Authorities in the Mexican resort city of Cancun say they are investigating a possible link between a taxi drivers union and organized crime after an attack inside a bar killed seven people, most of them members of the union. Quintana Roo state Attorney General Gaspar Garcia says the gunmen who burst into "The Little Mermaid" bar specifically targeted union members meeting there Thursday. He says the union's deputy secretary for conflict resolutions was among those killed. Garcia said Friday that investigators have yet to determine who was behind the attack. While Quintana Roo has not seen the levels of violence plaguing Mexico's northern border states, it is a major drug trafficking zone. Several Cancun taxi drivers have been arrested recently for selling drugs or participating in drug-related killings.
