  1. I did the Classic Catholic Wedding since I got married in the chapel- I dont think they offer this package anymore- but it is pretty much the same as the Classic Package. We added some extras like a harpist at the ceremony and chair sashes at the reception. It was perfect.
  2. Our on-site coordinator set up a meeting with the priest for us. I brought my chosen readings and he just asked what they were and was happen I had them chosen. He said it works best if each reader brings a copy of their reading up to the pulpit so I asked my wedding coordinator to make fresh copies for the wedding day and it wasn't an issue. We had forgotten to choose someone for the psalm, but quickly asked a relative and it worked out okay. Just make sure to bring the original letter from your parish and your baptism certificates and it should be fine.
  3. It took about an hour and a half for one person to be done with both hair and makeup for my group (mine took the longest). We had 3 appointments starting at 11:00 and my pictures started at 2:30. I felt we had plenty of time and maybe even too much time to wait in between. My mom and sister had their hair and make-up done and they flip flopped back and forth between the hair stylist and make up stylist. I had the same person do both my hair and make-up. When I booked the appointments they had me book an hour for hair and an hour for make-up for each person. Hope that helps a little!
  4. Hi ladies! I just got back from my wedding which was 3/14/13. I am waiting awhile to do my review- but if you have any questions feel free to private message me. I had a catholic ceremony at the chapel at 4pm with the harpist and resort videographer, then a private cocktail hour and reception at the albatros terrace following the ceremony. I had DJ Doremixx and Sascha Gluck was my photographer. (everything else was through the resort or I brought myself) My wedding coordinators were Katia and Elizabeth. We had about 30 guests (half staying at the Gran Caribe and half staying at The Royal). Everything turned out perfect for me! It was the wedding of my dreams!! Let me know if you have any questions! Happy planning
  5. @AnaSteele58- you and your guests are able to cut off the wristbands for the wedding day. Just don't lose them! (if you lose them they will charge you $100 for a new one) We all just brought our cut wristbands to the front desk the next day and it wasnt an issue. @Emily11386- We had the harpist for the ceremony. So he just played whatever. I would definitely recommend having some sort of music. You can probably contact the priest and he would let you know what the rules are for music.
  6. @ornxoxo the dj was also the MC, the wedding coordinator made sure everyone doing speeches got the microphone at the right time.
  7. I used the resort videographer! I had the catholic ceremony and had them there to just capture the mass. He did an awesome job- I was very pleased. It started with the background being a Jason Miraz song with everyone gathering to te church and setting everything up, then included the entire ceremony with audio from the ceremony and ended with us taking pictures by the chapel set to some music. I thought it was really nice and well worth the money. We got married on Thursday and got the DVD by Saturday afternoon.
  8. All we gave him were about 7 artists that we wanted to hear. He did a great job with the rest. Once I went up and asked him to play some older stuff (we had the same age range as you and the older crowd wasnt dancing as much as the younger crowd) he mixed some Michael Jackson and some fun oldies music. So we did not give him too much guidance and he was great.
  9. We had balloons, glow sticks and masks- everyone LOVED them!! I have to say he is WELL worth the money! Best DJ I have heard by far- he definitely knows his business. He is great a mixing music, keeping everyone on the dance floor and following the requests you give him. Definitely A++ (we got the lighted dance floor as well, and everyone thought it was amazing).
  10. @Billandstina- we did not request cold fireworks or pay extra for them- BUT Doremixx did provide them for us. It was a nice little surprise because I was definitely not expecting them.
  11. Hi Ladies! I just got back from my wedding!! It was absolutely amazing! I am going to take some time before I write my review, but if you have any questions, feel free to message me! I had the catholic ceremony at 4pm on a thursday, followed by a private cocktail hour and private reception on the albatros terrace. We had 30 people join us in Cancun. My DJ was DJ Doremixx and my photographer was Sascha Gluck. Everything else was through the resort. I worked with Katia and then Elizabeth for my coordinators. Let me know if you have any questions
  12. Hey Linz0621! I just got back! I had no problems carrying on my dress. It was in the garment bag it came in and I just put it in an overhead compartment. It was flawless traveling! I did have it steamed when we got down there just to make sure it would be perfect.
  13. Wow this totally made me do some more research! We leave on AirTran on Monday for our wedding which is next week Thursday. I do plan on carrying on my dress. When I read the carry-on policy it said that a garment bag is considered a carry-on. My dress is in a garment bag (the bag it came in) and that is what I plan to bring as my carry-on. I hope I don't have any issues. We upgraded to first class when we booked, hoping this would alleviate any issue with the dress. I will let you know next week if it worked for me!
  14. Hi Ladies! I cannot believe my wedding is almost here!! We are getting married at 3/14 I have a question about tipping. Are you going to bring $$ for the DJ, bartender, waitstaff, photographer? I can't make up my mind. Thanks for your help!
  15. Thanks! The excursion is a great idea I am a resort newbie, do you know if there a way to see what excursions are offered before we get there?
  16. Hi Ladies! I am getting married at the GCR March 14, 2013!! We are getting married in the Catholic Chapel followed by a private cocktail hour and private reception at the Albatros Terrace. I am very excited!! Has anyone thought about doing a welcome reception for your guests? We want to do something extra for our family and friends making the trip and that is the only thing I can think of. Let me know if anyone is considering doing the same or has other ideas
  17. Hi Ladies! I just booked my wedding at the Gran Caribe for 3/14/13! We are getting married at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel at 4pm with a private cocktail hour and private reception immediately following at the Albatros Terrace. I was wondering if anyone has had a night reception there? I am a little worried because the sun will set as we are starting to eat dinner and I have not seen any lighting in the pictures of the Terrace. Does anyone have any experience with this? Help!
