  1. I definitely agree! I don't like gaps at weddings either when I am a guest because I never know what to do with myself! And I think it'd be best to keep the group together.. I think hiring a musician or using the same band you have for the ceremony is great. Even if you do an open bar for an hour I think it's only another $7 or $10 a guest.... which isn't very expensive.
  2. Awesome! Do you know if there is one just of the Suites or no? This would work....
  3. We are also looking at the Rose Hall property for our wedding ceremony and reception. Are you ladies staying at the Hilton property or somewhere else? I think we are going to end up having our guests/ourselves stay at Iberostar Rose Hall Suites and Grand and do an off-site wedding at Rose Hall. I love the aqueducts and the Great House. While I have had a hard time finding people on this site that have had weddings there I did find this wedding photography website. They seem to have done a few weddings at the Rose Hall House/aqueducts and the pictures look really pretty. It gave me a better idea of what to expect. And after looking at their wedding pictures, make me 100% sure I do not want a wedding at Iberostar - just because of the ceremony locations they offer! http://blog.saabwedding.com/category/rosehall-resort/
  4. WOW! That is SUCH a good idea! Might have to steal that from you... We were thinking the same thing - how to know exactly how many people to expect. People always tell you they want to go but you never truly know until they book it. Do you know what rooms you are going to stay in? Originally we wanted the villas but just learned today that the villas a re a 5-10 minute golf cart ride from the main part of the hotel? But the golf carts are included in the villa price so that is always fun! We also read that the villas don't have direct beach access, that you have to go to the main part of the hotel? That worries me a little about the villas but I don't know if it is true? I just emailed Tashane about it asking her. I love the beach and if I am flying to the Caribbean, I want ocean views outside my room and the beach all of 2 steps away.
  5. We keep going back and forth. I hope your right - that once we decide it'll be less stressful! Our parents love the ideas of the Villas at Half Moon... I completely agree about the lanterns at Sugar Mill too. I am in love with the wedding and reception locations at Half Moon - definetly the best I have seen compared to the other resorts! Especially because we don't want to get married ON the beach... just with a view of the beach! So when you signed your contract you had to pay the deposit right.... how did you know approx. how many guests? Did you actually send save the dates out? Or just asked around. I would hate to put a deposit down and guarantee the resort a certain number of people and then not be able to meet it....
  6. kpoovey - when is your wedding in June? we were thinking june too - I just got off the phone with IRHS and they told me they only have 3 weddings booked for June 2013 so far. Are you bringing a photographer with you? I know we plan too and they told me they don't charge extra for that which is awesome! The only thing I haven't seen is the pricing for the food for the bonfire? I would like them to do a beach buffet or something. More like actual diner on the beach... but the only thing I see pricing for is the cocktail party appetizers?
  7. Does anyone have pictures of the ceremony locations at IRHS?? We don't want to get married on the beach - we want to wear shoes/heels for me - but would love an ocean view. I also want something private! Any help would be great!
  8. I agree about the whole beach thing.... I've been to Negril but not Montego Bay, the beach was beautiful and I am nervous about MB not being as nice. In Negril, the water was so calm and I literally laid in the ocean on a raft the entire vacation! We are looking into IRHS and Half Moon in MB. I looked into other Negril all-inclusives but didn't find anything I was absolutely crazy about. We want to be on the beach, has to be AI and has to allow kids..... Anything you have found? I know Beaches is an option but I have been there before... And since there will be only a few kids at the wedding I think Beaches is too kiddie.
  9. We are looking at Half Moon and Iberostar Rose Hall Suites (they allow kids at the suites, not the Grand). What made you pick HM? I just sent an email to the WC this am and then I found this post. Such helpful info! I love your wedding ideas - your timeline and plans for wedding and reception seem like something I would do. I love the steel drums, had them when I was in Negril last year! Such a Jamaican experience. I like the fire eater idea too, even though my FI hates the idea. We plan to get big lanterns and have everyone release them into the sky too. I am in love with the ceremony location options at HM but I'm nervous it might be expensive? What about in terms of price, did you find it less expensive or more? I feel like $162 is a lot especially because the guests are all-inclusive anyways? How many people are you expecting? Or think you will be having?

  11. We are looking into IRHS for our wedding (between this and Half Moon!). I love the bonfire idea. Is the bonfire private? Also, what are the extra costs for this - to have food and drinks on the beach? I have emailed the resort but haven't heard anything back from the in regards to this. I would also want to do this as a welcome dinner sort of thing.
  12. Hi! Congrats to all who have gotten married at Half Moon! we are looking into Half Moon and Iberostar Rose Hall Suites for our wedding. I am worried Half Moon might get really expensive but I love the grounds and the wedding/ceremony locations! Can anyone give me an idea of the cost per person for between 50-75 guests? We would want them to take care of all our flowers, music, food and open bar! Any help would be fantastic! Thank you!
  13. Congrats to everyone getting married at BSB. My FI and I plan to have a destination wedding (haven't picked a place) BUT was at BSB this past July and figured I could pass along some information about the resort. I was not there for a wedding but saw plenty of weddings take place throughout the week. I feel like looking at Trip Advisor, there are a lot of negative reviews about BSB. It was a nice resort but not as upgraded as Beaches Negril. I actually preferred Beaches Negril because the resort was larger, more upgraded with more restaurants and pool areas. The beach was large but the water was rougher than at BSB. The large "tiki hut" for wedding receptions was beautiful too! The nice thing about BSB is that you can use Beaches Negril - they have a van that goes between both resorts during the day. Now about BSB - the resort is much smaller and intimate. The beach was wonderful, tons of places to sit and always available rafts to lay in the water on. The water sports were always available, snorkling was great. Wasn't crazy about the pool - it wasn't anything special. It was a standard L shaped pool that you would see anywhere and a smaller oval pool outside the rooms we stayed in (compared to the pool bar and beautiful pools at Beaches Negril). The pool didn't give me the "at a Caribbean resort" feel. They have 2 restaurants at BSB that are fantastic! One is Italian and is inside - wonderful food! The other is directly above the Italian restaurant, it overlooks the ocean and has wonderful seafood (especially the crab cakes). Both restaurants are on the smaller side so if you plan to have a reception there be cautious of the number of guets you have. I would think 30 people would completely fill each restaurant. The downside to the restaurants are that there are only 2 (plus the buffet). At dinner, we would sometimes wait for 45-60 minutes for a table for 5 just because it seemed at everyone at the resort was trying to eat at the 2 restaurants. Breakfast was only available at the buffet and lunch was only served at the buffet or the little but near the pool. The rooms are OK, nothing special. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. The room was clean and nice but not updated. It wasn't a huge issue though because we were hardly in the room - only to sleep and get ready for dinner. My wedding recommendations would be - Make sure in your OOT bags you put big spray!!!! Definetly needed as sand bugs and Mosquitos are everywhere! And the gift shop didn't sell bug spray! Thank god we brought our own otherwise we would have been bitten up! and bring your own photographer! They had "photographers" around the resort taking pictures of everyone staying there... but the pictures were terrible! Not "photographer" quality, more of my 14-year old brother quality. I would be very upset if my wedding pictures were of similar quality so bring your own! If I think of anything else, I will Definetly add!
