I got these bags from Dollar Tree (or is it called Dollar Giant?) on Calgary Trail, right beside Goodlife Gym and Canadian Tire. I'm not sure if they have white ones but they had several colours when I bought these. I'll look next time I'm around there, but if you happen to be in the area they have a lot of stuff that Dollarama doesn't have:

I was doing mugs as my favour and a survival kit just as a little thank you. But then I decided to give the mugs out at xmas and wanted to give something extra on the night of the wedding, so I am giving these: http://www.orientaltrading.com/personalized-wedding-cookie-cutters-with-card-a2-5_1220-12-1.fltr?Ntt=cookie+cutter They work out to 70 cents each, and I think its nice that everyone can have something, no matter how little, on the day of the wedding. My OOTs are pretty minimal though. If you're spending a bunch on OOTS then I think thats sufficient.

There is a living social deal out again for StickerYou.: http://www.livingsocial.com/canada/cities/81-edmonton/deals/529556-three-custom-sticker-sheets I used this to make stickers for my Mugs, so that the guests could write there name on them. I was afraid that they would mix them all up without having a way to identify them. The stickers are waterproof/sunproof, and stick really well. Using the website took some practise, but I definitely recommend the stickers. You still have to pay shipping on top of the deal ($6 if you get the 3 sheet option, but more if you buy more) I used the oval food labels and you get 36 stickers /page: http://www.stickeryou.com/theme/labels/themes/food-labels/228

Wow you're much more creative than I am! I love the theme, but I definitely would have to re-plan and re-buy everything. Where were you a year ago? haha

Haha I like the idea of hiding stuff in them! I would probably have to put a ribbon or something around the box since its pretty ugly lol but I like the flowers. For $6 maybe I'll just buy one and experiment with it.

Has anyone seen these before? http://www.partycity.ca/product/silver+fluffy+flower+centerpiece+kit+6pc.do?sortby=ourPicks&pp=60&size=all&navSet=269445 Curious to see if they are lame in real life. I dont have centerpieces and dont want to pay for them at the resort. This could be a very light and cheap substitute.

I love these cups on that site a!: http://www.greenmunch.ca/party-lunch-supply-bundles/mason-jar-party-bundle/ If I was having a smaller wedding I would definitely get those! I think it would make a really cute table setting!

Does anyone need a place for non-wedding related Vents? Or general vents? I do! I received over $7000 in scholarships this year for getting the best mark in my class, and the university forgot to invite me to the awards night where they recognize the students who got scholarships. I'm super disappointed that they didnt take the care to invite all of the students. There are only 500 kids in the entire faculty, so under 50 who got scholarships... I emailed them asking If I should be expecting an invitation because I received 3 awards, and they haven't taken the time to respond and now its passed the RSVP date. Booooo

There is a groupon today for Princess lingerie! $40 for $80 worth of lingerie. I haven't gone in to inspect the quality or see what the prices are like though...

under 2 months until I leave :-) this is coming so fast!

JA2012 I would definitely get a quote from several travel agents before deciding to go on your own! I had lots of guests ask me "can you get me a window seat?" and "how much to stay an extra weekend? week?" and "how much to upgrade" and "can you put the cost of an excursion on my ticket price"... I wanted to punch them, but instead I could refer them to ask the travel agent. SUCH a relief not to have to deal with answering those questions! But if you are just requesting everyone to book on their own then thats an easy way to handle it too!

We didnt send formal Save the Dates, but we told everyone "sometime within the end of January/Early February", you could do something like that. But yea no rush!

We are filling up about 3/4 of the plane to Toronto. Not sure about the plane from TO to Montego Bay, but its probably a much bigger plane. At first I thought this would be a fun party plane, but I then remember how the bride at the last destination wedding i went to was having a huge anxiety attack at the airport, and I think with this many people it will be worse lol
-
I would NOT worry if you're coming from the GTA. There are a million flights out of there. From Edmonton, all tours companies except one cancelled direct flights to Jamaica. We have to go through Toronto with a 3.5 hour lay over now :-( and a night flight booo!! Plus you can get way better deals from Toronto too!
-
JA2012, that's a question I've just sent to the resort, but on BDW I've heard past brides saying that you can rent it from the resort or the DJ has it.
-
I think your timeline sounds very reasonable!!

Marie- In lieu of contributing to the wedding, his parents are throwing a party back home for their friends and family who couldn't come. My friends and family who can't come to Jamaica won't fit in their venue... Needless to say, I'm not impressed lol futuremrswarner- We had the same problem too with several guests, but we only sent out invitations 9-10 months ahead of the trip, and then the flights/hotel was only finalized 6 months ahead. You still have a lot of time so try to not think about it (haha I know, easier said than done). I think you're making a wise choice to not plan too much until you get your numbers more firm though! I had a few stress attacks as my numbers kept growing and I had already bought stuff. Peach - Sorry to hear that your parents aren't putting enough faith into your research and booking. My fiance's grandparents did that too and it ticked me off. So they are staying off resort to 'save money', and won't spend any time with their family at all except on the wedding day with a day pass that I have to pay for, and it is only saving them $50 each !! (and I have to pay $75 each to get them into the resort!) I also had friends who wanted to get a 'better deal' and book on their own, and never found one, and now the resort is full. I'm a little pissed at them, like CUMMON you don't think I did my research and got a good price?!?!
-
Yea I hear ya!! What we did is went to all of our family and close friends and told them that we would pay the deposit on their behalf if they knew that they wanted to come, because we were worried about getting enough seats and wanted to ensure that family had priority. (they were to pay us back by check) We had 44 of them say yes right away, so we knew we could expect at least that many. Then we sent out general mail invitations to everyone else and had 24 more book within the first 2 days. This could be because we had a long engagement and had decided on Jamaica very early on, and I talked about it constantly lol. Also, there are only 120 seats on the plane from Edmonton, so we put that in the invitation so that people knew they had to book ASAP. The rest were from a different city so not a huge rush, they took MUCH longer to book because they knew there was time. We had a few that booked very late and the hotel was booked so they are bunking with people on some nights and staying off resort on others. Some people booked off-resort without asking which is kind of annoying for me!!

Yup, I think we are at 96 now, but we have had people drop out in the last month. I have to do my whole beauty routine obviously, but I'm waiting until closer. But I need to start booking appointments [tan, wax, nails, hair dye, teeth whiten, mani/pedi] I have my dress fitting this weekend I have a craft night planned for the bridesmaids to: -put together our 'survival kits' -tie ribbon on our fans -put our favours together with ribbon -label and pack our mugs for everyone -DIY boutonneires and finish bridesmaids bouquets -get drunk Bachellorette Party, which the bridesmaids are doing entirely on their own which is nice Plan the flow of events on the day of the wedding. I'm waiting on a response from the hotel on certain options we want before we make the final details. Pack my 6 suitcases of stuff :-) We are still considering booking an excursion through a private company, not the resort, but I think that may be too stressful to get the information to all of our guests and take payment from them all etc. Especially because no one on my fiance's side of the family has email... like WTF! I think that's it. Now the stuff I've already done: -bought decor: diamonds, shells, chair ties, table runners, decor for the arch, petals for the aisle -bought stuff for our survival kits [tylenol, condoms, zigzags, emergen-C, bandaids, wetnaps, mini flashlights, floating duck coasters, note pad] -bought miscl others: straw fans, koozies, floating lanterns, T-shirt prizes for competitions with guests, shot glasses for wedding night, mugs, tip/room key holders] -DIY bouquet and Bridesmaids Bouquets -bought dress, and Trash the Dress (and altered TTD) -bought bridesmaids dresses, bought groomsmen outfits -bought invitations, sent invitations -negotiated rates with 5 tour companies, picked a tour company, booked 68 people in 2 days and had the tour company say they can only take 60, negotiated with another tour company, had first tour company completely cancel their Jamaica flights and hotels (but still guaranteed our trips, just terrible flight schedules), informed all guests of their right to cancel because of bad flights, booked people in from 5 different cities. -book AHR reception, cancelled AHR (haha) -got mad at his family for refusing to pay for anything for our wedding, but paying $12,000 for his sisters wedding last month -got mad at his sister for getting engaged after we picked the date in Jamaica and then getting married 3 months before us -researched and booked our honeymoon -wrote our ceremony script -made wedding slideshow -made budget and then doubled it when 50 more people booked then we expected haha -told everyone who we want to do speeches and what to talk about in them -bought wedding shoes and jewelry -asked all my friends if they were throwing away luggage so I could take it with me to jamaica and leave it there -bought bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts [towels, fancy mug, tote bag, necklace for girls and hat for men] -bought a bunch of cute clothes for the week, new bikini, etc -made a huge packing list -hired photographer to come with us (on free travel credits) Not that you asked, but it might be helpful if you're trying to see what you could plan in advance [or over-plan, like me]
-
haha I was talking about it constantly when I was that far out too. Now that I'm 2 months away I'm thinking about it a LOT less and now when people ask me about the wedding I think to myself 'what wedding?' haha. I think it's because I got most of the stressful stuff out of the way and only have little details left, so it's not always on my mind.

While I'm at it, I also got a few other things which I know I shared in another post, but may as well share here too. Dollarama now sells condoms, 12/$3 [60% off of what they sell for at Shoppers]- I plan on putting them in our survival kits. I ordered ZigZags on ebay and they came in without any duty or anything from this seller: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/250945318696?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_739wt_1163 The zigzags, after shipping, came to $20 for 50 packages. I ordered a bunch of stuff from oriental trading too. -our favours: cookie cutters with recipe card http://www.orientaltrading.com/personalized-wedding-cookie-cutters-with-card-a2-5_1220-12-1.fltr?Ntt=cookie+cutter [they have sea shell ones too, but my fiance thought it looked like a tree so we didnt go with them, but they are cheaper]-->http://www.orientaltrading.com/personalized-summer-wedding-cookie-cutters-with-card-a2-3_2560-12-1.fltr?Ntt=cookie+cutter -Heart shaped note pads 24 for $2.80 http://www.orientaltrading.com/heart-shaped-spiral-notepads-a2-57_6511-12-1.fltr?Ntt=heart+note+pad -inflatable duck coasters 12 for $5 -http://www.orientaltrading.com/inflatable-duck-coasters-a2-12_3941-12-1.fltr?Ntt=inflatable+ducks -Beer Coozies to give out on our excursions 50 for $21 http://www.orientaltrading.com/to-have-and-to-hold-can-covers-a2-3_1601-12-1.fltr?Ntt=have+and+to+hold For Oriental trading, all of the above and a few other things, totalled $30 shipping which includes all border/duty/brokerage fees.
