  1. I have my suitcases in our Formal Living Room and am starting to pack a few things here and there. I am getting married at the Now Jade on October 20th. Finishing up the OOT bags this weekend. I just have to attach the gift tags to cups and add the pens and notepades I got from Vista Print in the mail yesterday. It's getting so close. I'm starting to get really excited for the trip!
  2. I am also glad you brought this up. I get on Trip Advisor every day to check out the new reviews. I am getting married at Now Jade in October and I want everything to be perfect for my guests. Most of my guests have never been to an A/I Resort and I want them to love Riveria Maya as much as I do. One of my wedding guests made a comment on Tuesday that he had been reading the reviews and that there were some negative posts lately. I did tell him that we are an easy going group and we are going to have a great time. My fiance added that when traveling with a group, there will probably be some issues, but we have to focus on enjoying ourselves during our wedding/vacation with 30 of our closest friends.
  3. I opened my email today and I had received the Now Jade Wedding Planning Form from Pilar. My wedding is scheduled for October 20th. Everything is starting to come together. It's getting exciting.
  4. I want to do an AHR, but my Fiance refuses. He said since we decided to spend the money for a destination wedding and since it is costing over $10,000 (because we have to pay for our children to come) that he doesn't want to spend the money for an AHR. I am a little bummed out, but I understand his point.
  5. We invited right around 100 people. The wedding is October 20th this year and we have 27 people who have paid for their trip. The only surprise is that my FI's parents have not booked yet and although they told my FI in the beginning they planned on attending, they haven't confirmed. It's pretty dissappointing since money is not an issue and his dad is retired and step-mom only works part-time. I really don't see many others booking this late in the game.
  6. We are getting married at the Now Jade in October and are having a morning ceremony. I've read these threads and haven't notice anyone else having the actual ceremony in the morning. Any past brides done the morning ceremony? My schedule is as follows: 7:30 a.m. Hair appointment - 10:30 a.m. Ceremony - Group Pictures - Buffet Lunch I figured everyone would still have the majority of the afternoon free to hit the beach, pool or whatever. Later in the evening the adults are going to meet at one of the bars for cocktails and dancing. As a side note: I originally booked the Your Moments package and then later tried to upgrade, but Pilar emailed me back and said they had 3 weddings that day and I might not get my choices for the ceremony location and reception location, so I decided to just keep it simple with the Your Moments package. We have 24 people attending and doing the add-ons ala carte.
  7. Thank you for sharing this! It wasn't something I was planning on buying, but it was a great price for a momento of our day!
  8. Thank you Kerri. We are having our wedding in the morning so I went with the Your Moments Package (which was complimentary) and I am adding on the extras, including the Sound System, photography, extra chairs, and hair and makeup. We are having a reception lunch at the buffett with guests after the ceremony, with plans to meet up with everyone at the disco/sports bar later in the evening. As of now, it looks like there will approximately 20 people attending. Looking back, I would have done a few things differently, but I am going to make the best of it. Some of my guests are spending a lot of money to be there for just a few days and I felt guilty tying up their vacation time with a bunch of "wedding stuff". I think in the beginning I was trying to be too laid back, but now that it is getting closer, I want the fairy tale wedding day.
  9. I'm getting married at the NOW Jade in October. As it appears now, we won't be having a DJ or band for the reception. I still really want a "first dance" with my future husband. Has anyone went to the Sports Bar and requested a song from the DJ? I know it won't be private and that doesn't really matter, I just really want that dance.
  10. I have a long list I need to narrow down for the ceremony. These are my favorites so I need to make some decisions: Glory of Love - Ukelele Version I Won't Give Up on Us - Jason Mraz(I think) Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World Medly All You Need is Love At Last Storybook Love - Princess Bride - Acoustic Version Melt with You - Modern English Better - Tom Baxter You are the Sunshine of my Life - Stevie Wonder Just the Way You Are - String Quartet Version And I definitely want to fit Besame Mucho in the Prelude or Recessional since we are going to be in Mexico and some of my family is Hispanic. Agh! So many choices, at least I have until October to decide.
  11. I purchased my dress. Final fitting in August, getting married October 20th, 2012 in Riviera Maya, Mexico. I didn't want strapless or Corset back. After trying on about 20 dresses in the last few weeks and not finding anything I was in love with, I asked my sister to go shopping with me. She begged me to try on this dress and I fell in love with it. When I do my final fitting, I'll attach pictures of myself instead of the model.
  12. I love that dress! You look great! I am supposed to make my final decision Tuesday. I have narrowed down to 3 (unless of course, I find something else). I don't want traditional as this is my second marriage, but I want to feel like a bride. Once I make the final decision, I will post pictures.
  13. I bought mine yesterday. I ended up getting a beachy blue and green bag with a white anchor and it says "Love". These are perfect, not to mention cheap! I am going to use some fancy calligraphy and type the last name of the couples on the bags and put Riveria Maya 2012 on there. Just to give them a personal touch. I would have never thought to look at Old Navy before seeing this thread!
  14. Hello, I am fairly new to the thread also. I've been looking up lots of ideas and advice. Unfortunately, I got a late start scoping out BDW and I did a few things backwards. I made the travel arrangements for my fiance and myself through Apple before I invited anyone else. This is the second marriage for both of us so I didn't think people would be really interested in coming to Mexico to watch us get married. I was totally wrong. Right now we have approximately 30 people who have put down deposits with Apple and I just sent out the official invitations last week so we will probably have a few more. In hindsight, I wish I would have worked with a coordinator to get a group rate before booking. Thankfully, the prices we are getting with Apple are amazing even though everyone is booking separately. I just feel nervous that is isn't more of a coordinated effort with one person working for all of us. Also, when I first booked my finance and I wanted to keep things really simple so we just booked the "Our Moments" package. Now I think we will need to upgrade because of the number of people going and I think my expectations have changed drastically from initial booking. I know everything will be wonderful in the end, but I just wanted to post my experience thus far. I wish I would have found this sight sooner. It has so many great tips, suggestions, etc. I know I would have done things differently.
  15. Hello All, I'm getting married at the NOW Jade on October 20th, 2012. We have booked the Your Moments package. Has anyone else used the Your Moments package and how expensive was it for add ons to that package? Our group has reserved enough rooms so the Your Moments package is complimentary and was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade to a different package or just pay the difference for add-ons to the Your Moments package. This is our second marriage and we want to keep things relatively simple. Thanks!
