Wait wait wait! SOOO if I order some hanging lanterns from them they will set up the DIY centerpieces and linens that we bring down to Mexico for free??? Did I understand that right? Do they just pick up your stuff from the wedding coordinator? That's an AWESOME loophole! Also, I was wondering if anyone is having a beach party for their group? Lots of other resorts offer them as special prepackaged thing for like $1200. And they set up a cool beach party, dj, campfire with smores stuff, bar etc. Unfortunately Moon Palace doesn't have a premade option like this, you'd have to kind of create it yourself, but is anyone doing it. I think it would be cool if you have unlimited events. And if you're not sure where to start here is what I'm thinking: Use 1 free private event, beach location iPod technician for 2-4hrs Zuniga lounge seating But I don't know if they can set up campfires on the beach or have ingredients for smores. It's the one thing Moon Palace is missing because I would TOTALLY pay an extra $1200 for a beach party.

The new setup fee is $200 per TABLE! Completely outrageous right? It's the ONLY reason why I'm even considering using the Colin Crowe collection. Because after buying my own linens and decorations, paying shipping to get it here, paying airplane fees to get it to Mexico, and THEN the set up fee? Screw that. Might as well just use their stuff and forget about the hassle. *eyeroll*.

So is anyone using the Colin Crowe collections for reception decor? $300/table. So if you bring your own stuff down and pay their $200/set up fee it would cost you about $300/table too. Basically MP is getting that $300 per table any way they can. Unless you go a la carte with their decorations and go really minimalist. Honestly. If they're going to charge $200/table to set up our decorations I think I'd just go with the Colin Crowe collection. I keep eying up that "Lavender Luxe". I'd go complementary on the ceremony, but maybe just suck it up and allergen on the reception record since EVERYTHING is so overpriced anyway. Might as well get the good stuff.

Thank you! You're right, there's really no down side to taking him, and a whole bunch of win. I just need to make sure I save my pennies to bring him. Getting him to witness a wedding down there is a good idea so that he can get an idea of the spaces and lighting. But he's shot weddings before so it won't be that big a difference. It might be in Mexico but its still standard wedding procedure, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception. And any personalized timing differences we throw in we will let him know.

Personally if it was me I wouldn't tell anyone. If your family relationship is that strained and no one was going to come anyway then why stress yoursf out?? This is about you and your fiancé commuting yourselves to one another for the rest of your lives. To hell with everyone else, get your kick @$$ elopement on girl!

I think that I want to take my photographer with us if we end up doing getting married in Cancun. He's done almost all of my photo shoots for modelling and I cant imagine anyone but him doing my wedding. He said that I can pay him in a trip, so all I would have to pay is his flight and hotel for 3-5 nights at MP and that's it, yaaaaaay! SO roughly $2,500. For that I get him ALL day from the moment I wake up right until we shut the honeymoon door in his face, lol and then a trash the dress the next day. (And then being in Mexico he will go all photog crazy on me and we will end up doing a bikini shoot, yaaaaay!). And I'm pretty sure if I bat my eyelashes at him and ask really nicely he will take a few group pics of us all over the trip too. We will probably end up with a good 1,000 pics taken out of it. I was having a bit of an inner battle of whether or not to pay the extra money to take him with us or just use the MP photogs (cause I'm a budget bride), but I honestly can't imagine not having my wedding pictures be up to the same caliber as my modelling ones. It's my WEDDING for crying out loud. I just can't leave that up to generic Mexican hotel photogs. I'm trying to think "financially responsible" thoughts. But I'd hate to have regrets after not taking him and I'm afraid that I would. What say the group? Pay less money and use the MP photogs? Or suck it up, save my pennies, and drag my photog to Mexico?

Oh my gosh that sounds so harsh *hugs*. When it's time I'm going into it assuming that NO ONE will come. That way every single person that books is just a bonus. Do I want to hit unlimited events? HELL YES!! But if only 6 people make it? Woohoo 6 more than 0. Cooler OOT bags for everyone! And everyone that bails can kiss my @$$. (I say that now but you know I'm going to be crying about it later).

I just had the best idea ever! Ok but this may only work if you're willing to compromise. If you have 6 tables or less (or lots of bridal party people) get them to set up the centerpieces during the cocktail hour. Get them to bring the centerpiece stuff to the ceremony (stashed in bags in the corner, use the OOT tote bags for camouflage) and then after the ceremony get them to run over to the reception area to set them up. If they do it AFTER the venue is set up but BEFORE the guests get there you should able to pull it off without paying super REDICULOUS fees. This won't work for everyone but if your venues are really close together and the centerpieces are simple this should help. Like using Tucan Beach and Tucan Terrace. Ex. Vase and fake flower bouquet per table with a few votives (will take under 5 minutes to set out). Don't light candles until lights go down. Ex. Chair sashes, 10 per table, simple bow. (3-5 minutes. 2 minutes if they move their butts). Im not talking about strolling around at a saunter here. I'm talking about being wedding party NINJAS. Rush over, whip em out, get back to the party. Are they REALLY going to stop you? Pull everything off the tables? Are you REALLY going to let them completely get away with highway robbery? I say fight back for the dignity of your wallet! *Note: this really depends on the level of fanciness of your wedding. I'm pretty sure mine will just be a week long drunk fest so I'm not worried about pulling out a few ninja moves. Everyone will be too hammered to notice anyway.

Quote:Originally Posted by beatyea  Yes they mean actually ON the beach- not any of the terraces near the beach.  Yes the Caribbean Terrace is the one with the bar and lounge area.   Thanks. I know the question was a bit silly but dealings with the MP seem to have a lot of easily confused vagueness to it so I wanted to make sure that "beach" mean "BEACH" and not "near beach" or "beach adjacent" lol.
