  1. I tried clickin g the link, but it did not work (I also posted this in another thread and it did not work). But, to answer your question Meagan816, I did buy the groupon for "my own labels". I'm not sure if the deals were the same everywhere, but the one for the labels/wedding favors/invites/favor boxes. I paid $70 CDN for $160 worth of product. I plan on buying the mint tins and some tags for our OOT bags. Has anyone else purchased this deal?
  2. . I am sure you will find some very helpful information on this website. We also chose a destination wedding because we wanted something small, with only a few guests. With that being said, we have invited about 30 people; however, I am unsure whether a few people we invited will be able to make it. I decided that we would only invite people we truly wanted to be there and considered if they would actually come. For example, I know my siblings could never afford to come, so they are not getting the formal invites, but we did send them the STD and they are being included in the wedding activities. As for what to ask your TA . . . . I am not too sure on that (hope the other brides have suggestions). I think it is important to consider what each resort is willing to offer you if you are only having a small wedding party. I know some resorts require a certain number of rooms to be booked in order to get the 'free" wedding. We are doing an off resort wedding, so I am not sure what else. I am looking forward to hearing how your planning evolves. Enjoy and Congrats! Quote: Originally Posted by Sarah Spain I am a new 2013 bride here. Recently engaged and planning for April 2013. I had looked into a vacation in Cancun before and really liked Dreams so that is definitely one resort I would like to check out. Super excited to be planning...even if it is just for a small party. I have always wanted a destination wedding but for a few weeks after we were engaged I had looked into venues here locally but after looking at all there is to do I just felt so overwhelmed and knew that I needed to go back to our 1st choice of a destination wedding. I am honestly not sure that we will have anyone to want to spend the money to go but not to sound mean I'd rather it be the 2 of us away than 100 people here. So much to figure out and also what are important questions that I need to ask my TA when I talk to her? Thanks and I look forward to chatting with you all over the next year!
  3. beachbum21- I love your flowers. They look great . I agree with the other brides, the green really makes the pink pop! Krystal lee ann- Congrats! I can't wait to hear how things go for you. Looking forward to hearing about it. I hope you have the best time! TKuzma- yes, I was able to find it. Thanks for the heads up. Although this may cause me to spend even more time on the computer . It's all for a good cause right? you only get married once!
  4. I really love this bouquet and I really like the orchards. I think it is a nice touch. Gorgeous BTW, I am new to this forum, but I am looking forward to hearing about others' experiences planning.
  5. I'm sorry I posted it so late. There was a bunch of deals for Winnipeg on there and a few of them were online, but I think they all ended yesterday at 11:59PM. I will keep my eye open for it again and post if I find it.
  6. Now that I have thought about it more, I am going to buy them and keep the receipts in case I need to return them. I was talking with a girl at work and she was saying that a friend of hers put numbers on the bottom of the cups so that people could differenciate between the cups. I think I will do that.I will be getting mine from superstore as we do no have a bed bath and beyond here. Has anyone else noticed that they have a wedding section on groupon now? There is a deal right now for labels, wedding favors, tags etc. $35 for $80 worth. I know lots of girls have made tags, but for the busy bride I think this is great. I will be buying one for sure. They have one for stationary as well if people haven't yet bought. http://www.groupon.com/occasions
  7. I have heard of people using pink and orange. I think blue and orange will look great. Here is a pic to get you excited! I am sure you have looked at some already. I like how the brown and white are incorporated with this one . Are you thinking of an aqua blue or something else?
  8. These look great! Could you post the wording? I can't really see it in the pic and I am having trouble wording our bridal shower invites (I am not planning the bridal shower, but find it so hard not to be involved at all).
  9. Wow Tammy! You did such an AMAZING job! You have such creativity. Have you given any more thought to opening a destination wedding business? I loove that you have put so much though into the details, it really adds to the final product. Would you mind sharing how much it cost you to made the boarding pass reminders that you sent out? I have never seen this, but I think it is a great idea! Did you just use an inkjet printer for all your printing? Great job again!
  10. tkuzma- I am totally with you. I have asked our guests to RSVP on our website, but only 2 have so far and it is my FFIL and his ex-wife (separately, which is kind of funny. Long story about why they are both invited). I am hoping to send out the invitations in July for our February Wedding and hopefully people will be more on the ball about booking. Our travel agent/wedding planner is not local, so I think this may be keeping people from contacting her to book (I hope not). She (the wedding planner) is also away in Jamaica right now and has not replied to my emails, so perhaps she is unavailble if people are calling her. Sounds like you have a lot booked already! Good job! I also feel like you and want to get things rolling asap.
  11. I am waiting for my MOH to be free to help complete them which will probably not be for a couple weeks. Not sure if I can wait that long. I got the inspiration to do these from another bride on here that completed her STD as luggage tags.
  12. Marilili- How are you printing your invites? I bought the paper to make bridal invites. I am super excited and will post them once they are made, bit though I would share the pic and get some feedback on how you think it will look layed this way. The purple color is more of a rich purple and did not appear as it's true color in the pic. I hope I will be able to print on the white flower paper, it is kind of fabric like.
  13. Lopey99- Your STD luggage tags have inspired me to make these for the bridal shower! I can't help but want to make them and since we have already ordered our invites and sent out the STD I thought this would be great for the bridal shower invites. My MOH, mom, amd FMIL will be planning most of the shower, but I could not help but want to do this part after I saw your pics! For those of you that are looking for a template, this website has a free STD luggage tag template. http://www.destination-wedding-guide.com/save-the-date-destination-weddings-template.html www.destination-wedding-guide.com <--- this is a picture from the website of an example of the template they have! Hope this helps. I plan on using the template above for the shape as I would never be able to freehand that.
  14. Mar 3076! Disney World?!?! That sound super romantic! Happy Planning! OMG Tamara! I almost cried when I watched your video and read your write up! That is so sweet. Chris sounds like a very thoughtful guy. I voted for you guys, but haven't received the email saying my acct registered???? Good luck! Great job on the video! It's something you could maybe use at your wedding reception.
  15. Those look great! Are they the double walled ones? what other colors do they have? Since my wedding is not until next year I am debating whether I should wait to get some tumblers like these when/if they ever go on sale? I am a little worried that if I wait the amount and colors I want won't be available. I also have not decided whethere I want to get the cups in our colors as my FH has already commented that he will be sick of our wedding colors by the time this wedding is done with.. Has anyone else given different colors? I am sure it would be a big deal right?
  16. Philanab- Thanks for the great tip! Our colors are orange and purple, but I will definately have to check these out. I never thought about getting themed stamps, but I think it's a great idea. I get a little obsessed on the little details sometimes. How is everyone's planning going? We have booked a group rate at Riu Ocho Rios for our hotel, but that is it. Tkuzma- Have you made any progress on starting your planning?
  17. Criusewedding13- I meant to ask what other places you are going? tkuzma- it's some special thing, I don't think anyone can just go.
  18. They look great! I plan on doing something similar with few, but necessary and nice items. I will have to check out Dollarama. I love the bags!
  19. Cait- Your OOT bags look AWESOME! I also LOVE the Bubba mugs! I would have never thought of that and Cdn Tire always has such great deals. Groupon is having a deal on these super cute reausable bags. I am seriously considering buying the, but they are 1 per person; therefore, would have to get friends/ family to order some for me so we would have enough. Thought I would post though! They are waterproof and eco friendly. Here is the link http://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-ca-designer-reusable-bag-set-of-4?c=all&p=2
  20. tkuzma- that sucks that you guys have been away for so long! Is he up to be posted soon? My in-laws are both in the military and will be moving to Australia (this was more of a choice I think for them). At this point not sure if they are even going to be able to make it to the wedding due to the costs of flights from Australia . Since you guys have been doing the long distance thing I bet it'll be nice to be in the same place for a bit with all your friends and family CruiseWedding13-Congrats and ! There seems to be a lot of April 2013 Brides
  21. Katie- we are getting marridied in Ocho Rios. Hopefully we will be getting married off resort at "firefly". I was initially told by our wedding planner that it was not available, but I found information indicating otherwise, so hopefully she can make some magic and it will be available for us *** fingers crossed***That is awesome that you have 12 guests already! How many guests total are you expecting? We are also staying at Riu Ocho Rios and have secured a group rate and rooms; however, I found out today that our TA/ was not aaware that most of our guests will not be flying out of the same city as us. She is placing another quote and hopefully the price does not increase. Has anyone else experienced this? Tkuzma- We live in Winnipeg. Why is your hubby in Brandon? Does he happen to be military? There is a base near Brandon.
  22. The great thing about making a quilt is that it can be done with any number of guest. We plan on having about 20 guests. I plan on picking the pattern with the quilter, but you can always arrange the signature squares with other fabric squares, I like the idea of adding photoes as well much that will cost us yet. Here is an example with pictures. I think this one may have been assembled before the wedding. we will just be bringing fabric squares and fabric pens with us. Nice and light .
  23. Our wedding is February 2013. We have got a group rate, but need to deide on an offsite venue before we can pick the exact date. I requested that our guests submit an RSVP via our wedding website and I have received some responses, but not many. We are going to the states this weekend (I live in Canada), so if we find any good deals we will probably just buy it.I l I LOVE our colors! It's kinda a funny story how I chose them. I was out shopping for a dress last year for a friends wedding and I saw this dress at LeChateau that was black, purple and had a pop of Orange> I LOVED how the orange and purple looked together. So when I was thinking about wedding colors I really liked purple and thought of that dress and Boom! We got a great combo (of course I can't find a pic of the dress, I did not end up buying it)
  24. I really like those wedges! Where did you find them? I agree that wedges will probably be best on the grass, just gotta find the right ones now.
