    A sample is a dress that is the one that people actually try on in the store, (or it may have been a dress that was ordered and not picked up) Some times they are damaged or a little worn. I was lucky - mine doesn't look like it was ever tried on.

    I bought mine the first week of April 2012 and am getting married in May of 2013. It was a sample, so it is hanging in my closet. I am going to bring it to the tailor after the holidays to have the alterations done.

    I bought my dress at The Bridal Garden, which is what I would consider a permanent sample sale. They are a non-profit organization whose proceeds benefit educational programs in NYC, which are near and dear to me. They are by appt. only and their number is: 212-252-0661. You can check out their reviews online. If you are looking for a Kleinfeld-esque experience, this is not it, but if you are on a no nonsense dress hunt, check it out!

    I am looking for non-floral centerpieces, specifically candle centerpieces. I do not know if this is realistic since the reception is outdoors, but I would love to see what you all did! I'm not adverse to flowers, I just would like to explore other options first.

    So far: *dress purchased (needs alterations) *venue booked *group rate/ rooms blocked *Save the Dates are en route to my house right now *Brainstorming decor and favors (must have OOT bags and maracas) I am thinking all white with teal accents for decorations We have not finalized our wedding party and are thinking about adding a photographer and using the resort photographer for the rehearsal dinner since I am picky about the pictures.

    I emailed three times before I heard back. I wanted confirmation on our date before I ordered save the dates and things like that. Anel said that he will be emailing me a true confirmation soon.

    I think we should definitely make a May 2013 thread! We can see what people are doing in the planning process and gather information that is useful to all of the May brides, such as weather/ sunrise/ set times, etc.

    I found my dress at the Bridal Garden in NYC. It is a non-profit who donates all of their proceeds to educational programs for children. It was a very laid back experience and it was nice to not buy into the "wedding machine". I was able to take the dress home with me that very day! I am altering the neckline to sweetheart, the back to come down in a v, instead of straight across, adding buttons all the way down the back, and removing the underlayer, where it hits the floors, so it will only be lace gliding over the sand!! I'm going to wait about 6 months to start the alterations though.
