  2. For our welcome party, I am putting together a fun conversation starter since many people will not know each other. I will have a small framed signed "How Do You Know The Couple" with stickers for the guests to wear. I created four stickers: 1. Graduation Cap (Know from college) 2. Tree (for family) 3. Sombrero & Maracas (With my date/Here for the party) 4. State of MD/State of NY (Where we are from) In total we have 8 different stickers, four in Navy for Chris, four in Mint for Lauren. Just printed the stickers on Zazzle.com, they are 65% off for Black Friday. They came to $1.73 per sheet of 20 with the discount. I can't figure out how to add an image here or else I'd show them... can anyone help?

  5. My photographer is from home, found her and loved her work. She's not charging me anything, I'm just covering 4 nights as well as her airfare. I plan to give her something extra though. Sometimes it worth doing some research locally to your home, I was not happy with the resort photographers but the others I saw in Mexico and liked were very expensive and then have the additional resort fee.

  7. I have worked with Brigitte since day one and she has been great, she would always respond in 24 hours. Within the past month since the changes were made, it takes maybe 2-3 days, which is still fine. 3-4 weeks for a response is way too long! I have heard those same complaints though from others...
  8. From what I understand it's not a straight $250 credit, so you cannot put the full amount towards one thing. It's more so a ploy to get you to spend more money. For example, you can use x amount towards a candlelight dinner, x amount towards upgraded wine... I would check with your TA how they allocate the money.
  9. I agree. Your guests are already spending a lot of money to join you, they shouldn't feel as if they also need to give a gift. Anything we do receive I'll probably just have my parents hold on to for us.
  10. My WC said tables can seat 8 or 10... 10 seems a lot though. Does anyone know the size of the round tables?
  11. For those of you discussing seating charts, I'm thinking about doing something like this at plaza Zavaz. There are two palm trees on both sides, that way if it's windy, cards will not fly off the tables .
  12. As an event planner and bride to be... I highly suggest NOT allowing guests to choose their own seats. It causes a bit of chaos with people saving seats, adding seats to tables to sit with specific people. You could end up having couple split up between tables if there are not enough seats. They only way it might work if you brought in at least 2 more table than needed, but then that may look silly to have 3 people sitting at one table and 8 at another. Try to best arrange seating based on the guests and their likes/interests, even if they may not know each other.
  13. I have asked and showed my coordinator a few pictures regarding the lighting at Plaza Zavaz. Putting aside any lighting you might have added to the pavilion, what other lighting is standard?
  14. Honestly, seaweed can be a issue anywhere just depends on time, the weather, etc. how many people are you expecting? We decided with Sensatori but also went to Dreams Riviera. I liked DR a lot. Clean, good food, nice beach, but it was fairly small and thought my guests would get bored. Their wedding packages were also very expensive. Sensatori has been great. There wedding planners are in Miami, I get timely responses, great reviews, wedding options are endless.
  15. I received this info from my TA regarding the DJ's, hope this helps, we are booking DJ All Music ($1500). DJ All Music tends to be more popular with couples wanting more of a traditional reception with announcements, traditional events, and commentary. Mega DJ is more often requested by couples only interested in dancing.
  16. Hi everyone! For those getting married at Plaza Zavaz, are you ordering additional lighting? I'm worried it will be too dark after 9pm. Our reception is from 7-11pm.
  17. Anyone doing a welcome reception/party? We are hosting one two nights before the wedding, as most people arrive. I was thinking of bringing in some live music then instead of during our 'cocktail hour'. What are some of you doing? I want guests to meet each other and was trying to think of something fun Thanks! I have Brigitte and shes been great so far! I usually get a response within a day and shes so nice. I would see if you can switch to her... I think Im using the bane at our welcome reception... what is this s'mores party you speak of? Where is this being held?
  18. Oh wow thats great!! Did you know you would be notified prior to the arrival day that you would be upgraded? I was under the impression that we wouldnt know until we got there.
  19. Help! What room are you booking for yourselves? Is it worth doing a premium room or honeymoon suite? All the rooms really look the same to me... I'm told we receive a complimentary upgrade based on availability. Has anyone received an upgrade? To which type of room?
  20. What are people's opinions on the two DJs? Mega DJ and DJ All Music? I can't find their work online, would have liked to see a video or sample work. Will they work with music that is not currently in their database? Thanks!!
