  1. Has anyone heard anything about or tasted the reception dinner options? We're thinking of going with the Italian choices: medallions of lobster naples style, grilled fillet of snapper w/parmesan vegetables, filet mignon, or marinated poultry supreme.
  2. Just got the email from our wedding coordinator at Iberostar with all the forms and options.....minor freak out....there's so many things to fill out!!!! 2 month mark, here we go!!
  3. We picked our first dance song a while back but I haven't picked a father -daughter song yet.... my mom had a good idea for it so that's a start....anyone have a step dad and is trying to honor both in the father-daughter dance?? I'm very close with my step-dad, so I was thinking of dancing the first half with my dad-dad and second half with step-dad. Thoughts?
  4. Thanks Kelly! Our hotel also didn't do the travel arrangements, I don't think that's in their realm. We used a local travel agent, who I think went through Apple vacations b/c they offered the best prices at the time. We're in the same exact situation w/the travel agent not finding the best prices though. My guests were pretty much doing her job by finding better prices through their travel agents or just on their own online. Kinda defeats the purpose of a travel agent, but I agree with you Kelly, the guests should get the best deal!
  5. Has everyone been contacted by their wedding coordinator at the resort already? I was told 2-3 months out, so the 2 month point will be in 2 weeks....if they dont reach out to me I'm going to contact them!
  6. It's getting pretty bad, I agree....we just booked someone from Chicago, but through Miami (overnight, both ways) for a very reasonable price....direct flights are crazy.
  7. FYI JoS A Bank is having a suit sale

  9. Our first dance song is "Un Amor" by the Gipsy Kings... so the dance is going to be Latin...some salsa...some other moves we have yet to learn We're goin for something a bit untraditional I think hair/makeup and trials are included in the wedding package, so that's nice, I just hope they do a good job!
  10. Photog is paid, Just booked DJ, Workin on booking Videographer Waiting on last guests to respond and book (to determine how many favors are needed, but we already decided on what the favors will be) Hair/makeup is being done by the hotel spa, but I'm doing my first hair trial w/my local hair stylist this week to take some pics! Bridesmaids and groomsmen are in the process of picking out their dresses/shirts Groom's suit should be coming in any day now Wedding dress is in process Taking our 3rd dance lesson this week for our First Dance )))) As for flowers/decor/etc., I think that all gets decided shortly before the wedding, but I have an idea of what I want for flowers, so hopefully that'll be easy. Our final payments are due at check-out, together with all the other fees. Also planning to do a religious ceremony locally next month for the relatives that can't make it, so working on that a bit too, although luckily mother in law is handling that event!
  11. Wow you already have all the decorations and such picked out? Did your wedding coordinator contact you first? From what I understand we wait until they contact us b/c they probably won't respond if we reach out to them for these details, so I'm sitting tight for now. Maybe it's different from resort to resort?
  12. Our RSVP was in June and I still have about 20 people that haven't responded....with about 100 coming!!! I know it's stressful, but think of it this way.... it's more people that are making a big effort to celebrate your special day with you so yes it's unexpected, but hopefully in the end it'll be all that more exciting and memorable!! What bothers me most is when people don't even respond saying, hey, I can't decide until such and such date because of some other obligations...I think it's a common courtesy, but apparently a lot of people think RSVP dates are a random number. I even sent out a cute email reminding people to respond and only got 2 responses to that (if anyone wants to use the template let me know and I'll find it for you).
  13. Great questions!! I'm very eager to hear the answers, as well
  14. Hello Brides! So excited to finally sign up! My fiance and I are getting married at Iberostar Paraiso Maya over the Thanksgiving holiday this year!
  15. I stayed at the Tropical last Christmas and spent time with the wedding coordinator there because this was one of our options for our wedding, so I may be able to answer some questions Feel free to reach out and good luck!
  16. Woohooo November 23rd here we come! We are planning on a beach ceremony ar 4:30 (not sure where) and reception at Tapatio in Paraiso Maya at 6:00. Sent in the deposit and filled out the paperwork to confirm the wedding date and time, but it doesn't look like they've cut the check yet... I heard this sometimes takes a while. We are going to work with Lily. I have reception menus if anyone is interested. I'm kind of confused as to how the dinners work. From what I understand, the appetizers are buffet style, but the entrees are plated? Also, I heard you might be able to get choose which menu you have at your reception site (example: the menu from Jambalaya for a reception at Tapatio)... but I'm waiting for follow-up on that. I was pretty frustrated that the private reception options boil down to 3 - Tapatio (in Paraiso Maya), Jambalaya (at Lindo), or La Brisa (at the Grand)...from those 3, Jambalaya which looks very nice inside, has an 80-person capacity. Tapatio holds many more people but doesn't look as nice as Jambalaya, however they said the decorations can improve the look AND they have a very nice panel of windows that will look niceat sunset. Anyone have any pictures of the different beach ceremony locations or have recommendations for where to have the beach ceremony? As for music, we're thinking of just bringing a flash drive with selected music and using the in-house DJ - anyone have opinions for or against this?
