  1. Thanks for sharing PuntaBride!! At the bank I work at, all my co-workers speak Spanish... I guess I should start learning.... May also take a Spanish class this summer since my college degree I'm working on calls for a humanity class. ) Now of course I'm going to have to ask... How do you brush your teeth in DR? A water bottle? (I had to do that in a cabin we stayed in in the mountains with well water.. Ewwww! We had to change cabins the next day bc I refused to take a bath in it. ) I will also check out Gran Bahia's!.. Thanks! )
  2. My FI an I are considering doing an AHR.. I'm just curious as to how much it will cost?... Reason for having one.. We have chosen to do a Destination Wedding (since I live in AL and he lives in GA) which will cost our couples close to 2k for the entire trip or less depending on how many nights they stay, and we know several of our friends and family wont be able to afford such a thing. Several have been complaining for months :-/ Family members say we need to have something local.. So I was thinking best of both worlds... Close family and friends come to the DW and once we return and have pictures, etc to share we can do an AHR for those that weren't able to be with us. Thinking of having the AHR in GA, where I will be moving to with my FI. I am a little worried on how many people will actually show up. My FI has a huge family and several family friends, many to which I have never met so I also thought would be a great idea for an AHR so that I can meet them all. I'm thinking more along the lines of appetizers, drinks (possibly alcohol) and definitely dancing!.. Something I have always wanted to share with my future hubby and my friends. Dancing at the DW is out of the question because there wont be no more than 30 of us. Would also love to see pictures of you AHR and ideas!!..
  3. May I ask why yall are against Punta Cana?.. Just curious, I've never been outside of the US.. Just got my passport a few weeks ago though. I know Mexico was one place my FI requested that we did not go to. Not sure why.. I'm guessing because everyone in our families have been there and he wanted something different.
  4. My FI and I were set on Paradise Island in the Bahamas... But this weekend we were looking at the Majecstic Elegance in Punta Cana and it is absolutely AMAZING!!!.. I too and going to try to get pricing info from my TA this week. ) Seems like its going to be the same price and possibly less for the non-inclusive we had chosen in the bahamas.
  5. Hello Ladies..And Gents, if any are out there.. As some of you already know my Fiance and I were set on Atlantis/Cloisters on Paradise Island in the Bahamas... (May 2013) But this weekend we haved turned in a new direction. Punta Cana! We came across the Majestic Resorts and the rooms are absolutely amazing and they are all inclusive!! (For the same price that we were going to pay for a non-inclusive) To us this just seems like a better route, not only for our guests but also us. Soo I have many questions to ask, so if anyone can answer all or one I am all ears.. or eyes.. lol.. Do they offer group rates? (What are the requirements and possible prices?) What photographer do you recommend, and possible prices? (I've read there is a $300 fee for vendors, does that mean Majestic has their own Photogs? If so, would love a list) What to do for a reception dinner? (I've read that some people do a free dinner? And some pay about 70pp or so) I'm really just looking for a dinner for our family and friends after the ceremony because we are wanting to do an at home reception with dancing, etc for everyone back home. Would love pictures of ceremony locations and/or package information for these two resorts.. Thanks!! )
  6. Do you still have the White Parasol and/or Flip Flops? If so could you check shipping to 35180 or 30144? Thanks!
  7. Aww.. thanks for sharing!!.. Both dresses are super cute!.. I love the color of the first one, that's exactly what color I'm looking for..(same color as my pink in my color scheme), Just having a hard time finding it.. :-/ Orange Parasols.. Love that idea! Where do you get those from? And how do you plan to travel with them? I've never seen any in person so it's probabaly easier than I'm thinking... lol
  8. Congrats on choosing a date!! What location do yall plan to travel to, and to get married at?
  9. That's a great idea!! I def want to spend time with the fam and friends before the wedding rather than "during our honeymoon time" I guess we should rethink our arrival dates.
  10. Ahh okay.. That is a great deal!.. I'm gonna check this one out and see what the FI thinks ) Hopefully some other past or future brides will pop up and share the experiences / planning with you.
  11. Thanks KC!.. I think that's the one comment I skipped over. :-/ I've got it on a word document now! )
  12. Aww.. Well that is awesome!! Congrats!!.. Wow.. Over 100 guests. I couldn't imagine!.. I agree about Atlantis reception prices, they are a bit steep esp for 100!.. We are looking into doing our reception at Luciano's.. I've seen many past brides had their reception there and none of them had a negative comment. It's an Italian restaurant and seems to have great prices. May I ask what kind of room rate you recieved and the amenities they offer?
  13. Sorry for the spelling error, I meant template* Or if anyone knows of another website with instructions, please share. Thanks a million!
  14. I am getting an error message as well.. ( If anyone has saved the tmeplate... Please share )
  15. Hey Kisha!.. Congrats on your upcoming Bahama wedding!!.. Unfortunetly it doesn't seem like many people on this forum are getting married in the Bahamas.. ( My Fiance and I were planning to get married at the Cloisters and One and Only and stay at Atlantis for our May 2013 wedding, but now we are thinking of alternate resorts just in case.. I just heard of Crystal Palaace the other day via a co-worker. I'll have to check their website out! Have you already booked the resort?
  16. WOW.. I'm impressed!! Spray paint or brush on paint? I'm soo jealous, I want some now!!.. Although I don't know what I would do with mine.. :-/ Were they collapsible for you to take to your destination?
  17. I'm with Cindy!! ;o) I would love to try this!! You did a Great job Philanab!! )
  18. Janette... Thanks for sharing!! ) You looked Gorgeous! Love your cake and where did you find those boxes? They are soo cute!
  19. hehe.. Well thanks girl! I did get a little DIY crazy there for a little while. This week and next are my finals so I've had to keep away from the wedding planning.. We see how much it has stopped me though... lol. That's awesome yall was able to secure rates from 2012 for 2013. Ours say they have a start and end sale date and we have to wait for new sales to come out for 2013.. No fair!.. lol I'm wondering if we aren't planning to get to our resort soon enough.. :-/ How soon are all the Bride and Grooms going to their destination prior to the wedding date?
  20. I wish I could get my rooms booked already!.. At a regular price of around 500 a night, I'm sure our guests will be thankful of us waiting for sale prices though.. I want to book the Cloisters ASAP to secure our day and time frame, but we loose 2350 regardless of why we might cancel.. So Hopefully Atlantis will pull through for us soon. If anyone has been to the Bahamas, is there an AI you recommend on Paradise Island or close by? Seems like its easy and stress-free to book in Cancun and Riviera Maya.. Makes me wish we would have chosen a place at one of those locations.. Quote: Originally Posted by ChocoTaco7568 Allie and Miss Bubbles No Need to feel behind, we still have 13 months! I know that TauruSmith, Bride81 and I are all having our weddings at various AM All-inclusive resorts in the Riviera Maya which might be why we’re able to have room rates secured and everything booked. My wedding has been reserved since January and I signed my contract for group rates and my room block in March (all of which are based on 2012 rates). The only unknown is airfare since flights won’t be published until June. And since I have people flying in from 5 different states I wasn’t trying to get a packaged flight/accomodations deal.
  21. Ahh.. That's a great idea.. I haven't seen any like those for $1 but check Dollar Tree and Ebay. I will try to keep on the lookout for them. I was thinking of doing larger paper bags.I've seen some really cute ones in our colors and even white or tan ones I could DIY something to the front.. I may end up switching over to that idea.. ( I hope not though bc I love our ON bags. )
