DIY Cake Toppers
MissBubbles205 replied to MissBubbles205's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Okay, so of course I am impatient.. And I couldn't pass up a good deal, so I bought the following. Seller:shop4femme-us Loose Rhinestones lot of Hot Fix Iron on 3mm (SS10), 15 Colors to choose from Qty:1 $5.10 Clear #00, 2880pcs (20 Gross) Loose Rhinestones lot of Hot Fix Iron on 4mm (SS16), 15 Colors to choose from Qty:1 $5.90 Clear #00, 2160pcs (15 Gross) Selection of 2mm Round Shape Flat Back Rhinestones in Multiple Colors and Lots Qty:1 $2.45 Clear #06, 3000 pcs Selection of 2mm Round Shape Flat Back Rhinestones in Multiple Colors and Lots Qty:1 $2.45 Light Blue #10, 3000 pcs Ignore the blue.. I bought those to write I Do on the bottom of my shoes.. But I bought iron-on and flatback to see which would look best. I figured I could use the iron on for my tanks if it don't work out for the topper. 2mm will be super tiny, so I'm afraid it will be a bit tidious.. But from what I've read these are the most common used.. 12ss(3.5mm I believe), 16ss(4mm), 20ss(5mm).. But I also saw a gorgeous one done in only 10ss(3mm) -

Thanks Allie for the link. ) I'll check out the craft stores with coupons and ebay to see who has the better quality for the better prices. I'm soo excited to start another DIY, but of course I'm having to wait for things to arrive before I can start any of them. ( -

tehehe.. too funny. I love the more scrolly ones, but A made me promise I wouldn't get one too girly.. So I tried to find a happy medium. :-/ Great idea about taking the letters to Michaels to determine the sizes. I'll do the same. ) then look on ebay and do research on the best ones and let you know. -

Okay, so I am officially the most indecisive person ever... but I finally made a purchase, I got the following. ) Text:: R Font:: Monterey BT Thickness:: 1/8 inch Height:: 5 " Letter Count:: 1 @ $2.35 each Paper Template:: No Approximate Width:: 5.8" and Text:: R Font:: English Vivace Script CT Thickness:: 1/4 inch Height:: 5 " Letter Count:: 1 @ $3.45 each Paper Template:: No Approximate Width:: 5.3" Now that I've also been looking at rhinestones all day.. I'm wondering what size to buy.. What kind to buy, etc.. I need rhinestones for several projects but for the cake topper I want them to be extra blingy without the cost of swarovski.. suggestions? -

I'm obsessed with the ME Bride page on facebook.. One of the ladies did a site visit and took pictures of the setup and I thought it would be gorgeous even with no additional decor. And the sound of the ocean and the breeze.. I can't help but think that location will even produce gorgeous pictures. ) Now that I'm not stressing over travel arrangements, designing invites and save the dates and assemble.. The fun can now begin!! ) I have 15 DIY's on the top of my head now.. What have I gotten myself into!? lol.. What are you ladies currently working on? ) -

Hmm.. I wonder if she had the letter secured with a long scewer and raised it up and hide the scewer with flowers? Super cute though, and my colors. ) I think I may go ahead and go with the 5.. We have that extra piece with the R and I think a 6 may be a bit to big.. -

Oh my... I didn't think about 2 or 3 tiers... The WC said the size would be determined by the number of guests.. Hmm.. I'm clueless as to how many we will have. I wonder if I should just be safe and get the 5 inch.. -

Great idea Allie! ) Great minds think alike.. hehe Choco, you wont have a problem with your fonts since I've checked those out, but anyone else looking for other letters, make sure the left and right side are equal at touching the cake, otherwise you'll have a slanted letter or scewers sticking out from the cake at one end. I fell in love with one font and then realized we would have an awkward letter once placed onto the cake. -

I was thinking of securing the back side with scewers.. (not sure of spelling, but those things you put kaboobs on.) I plan to paint the letter and scewers with silver acrylic paint and rhinestone both sides. I love the 3 letter monogram! ) and just saw a pic with the first name initials on the lower tab and they were super cute!! I too wanted the 3 letters but I don't like our monogram.. BRA.. lol.. or ARB isn't so bad, but I just don't care for the look of it.. lol... :-/ -

I was deciding between those two fonts as well!.. Chopin is 5 x 6.2 Brock is 5 x 4.7 And now I'm even liking Monterey, it's 5 x 5.8 I didn't realize how much the fonts vary in size.. So I've been doodling out each one to it's approxiamte size to see which will look best. I also have an email in to the WC to see what size the top layer of our cake will be.. I'm assuming 6 inches though. -
Good Morning Ladies! I want to DIy our cake topper. ) I am thinking a script font wood letter with rhinestone... But I am wondering, what size height and width and dimensions should I order..? Craftcuts.com seem to have aweseme deals.. I just need insight on the sizing while I try to chose what font looks best for an R. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. )

We are thinking of doing ours between June and July.. But found out from our photog that we wont have our pictures back until July 4th.. So maybe we will plan something for the end of July. On a Saturday of course since my family lives in Alabama and the reception will be in Georgia. I def want to have dancing and music. I've got to check out venues in the Atlanta area since I'm not too familiar with it. But I want to do a hotel events room or something of that nature. And I want wine, beer and cokes and appitizers, candy bar and another wedding cake.

Great idea!!.. Although I think the significate others not in our party would be males.. Idk how well that would turn out tying bows.... lol.. hmm... Maybe aunts and cousins (girls) terrific idea. ) We could ask them before the wedding and them get them small appreciation gifts. ) We originally thought we would have about 30 guests.. But we have had 2 aunts say they are coming and we haven't even sent the invites yet.. So I'm wondering if we will have more than expected... How many guests are you expecting? -

Ladies.... What are yall doing about decor? I'm planning on taking chair sashes, raffia fans, and rose petal aisle runers to line the walkway up to the gazebo. One of the WC's gave me the price list for someone with ME to set up our own personal decorations.. Charges for professional decorators: if you plan to bring your own decorations but you don’t want to get involved with the set up we offer you this Service. Ceremony set up: Up to 20 guests US$150.00 21 – 50 guests US$190.00 51 – 80 guests US$250.00 80 – 100 guests US$300.00 I personally feel like that a lot to ask for for only tieing sashes onto a few chairs and placing fans in each chair and rolling out my aisle runners... So I'm guessing the way to go is to have a friend or family member do the set-up, but how do you determine who to ask since the bridal party will be getting ready with us and pictures... -
lol... hey, I am a blone.. I think that owuld work!! bahahah And I totally agree!.. I mean after all, we are sending them a ton of business and money by choosing their resort and having our family and friends stay several nights each.
-
I agree.. They shouldn't be able to charge you for your family or friends putting up the decor.. I need to inquire with my WC to seek the fee's for them putting up my decor vs. a friend. call up the maids.. tehehehe I never thought of that.. Great idea!! I think the dying will be much easier than painting with acrylic paint as I previously read. But def check out ebay too.. Great deals and many, many colors to choose from! ;o)

I just looked at the Old Navy ones... I'd have to touch them to feel the fabric.. lol... But I think those are exactly what I bought!! ) And your right they will probably only be worn once or twice... $2!! Woohoo.. I need to go buy more.. lol.. Here's my tanks. http://www.bodyc.com/products/basic-ribbed-tank/?keywords=tank&pg=2&nextIdx=18&prevIdx=16&maxIdx=38 Or they are very similar.. Mine actually came in S/M or M/L
