Bahamas - On Location Advice
MissBubbles205 replied to Aaron the Photographer :)'s topic in Bahamas Weddings
I'm jealous!. Our plan was to be married at the Cloisters but right before I submitted the $4500 and the signed contract we backed out and switched our location to Punta Cana.. I will def have to visit the Cloisters in the near future. It's soooo grogeous!! Our plan was to have our wedding dinner at Luciano's. They have amazing reviews and the menu's sounds amazing. Just a thought if you are on the search for a dinner location. -

YAY.. Your off to a great start!! ) I soo did not think of a wax tip pencil! I'm wondering if the rhinestones I had were swavorski bc they look the same.. I'm gonna go purchase both kinds so I can see the difference. I also love that font!.. I have the same one, that I'm dying to bling up so I can use it for something else. ) -
2013 Majestic Elegance Brides
MissBubbles205 replied to MissBubbles205's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Welcome to the ME forum! I also highly recommend Majestic Elegance Brides group on facebook. Lucky you with the earlier time slot! My wedding is at 6 and dinner at the See & Sea at 8. I don't think we will have enough time after dinner to do a reception, but I look to start looking more into this. We are also planning an AHR around July after our May wedding. We want to do something special for all of our guests that spend the time and money to come, but I'm clueless.. ( I do however plan to have a welcome dinner the night before the wedding (like a rehearsal dinner) there is where our guests will all get to meet each other and pick up their OOT bags. I originally planned to hand them out as people arrived, but I honestly don't want to go around chasing after people on my vacation. I'm thinking of setting this up at the buffet or the steakhouse. I have read about several ladies doing this and it's all free. ) Photogs.. I wanted Phil Steingard. He is absolutely AMAZING!.. But he recommended Michael Steingard and Jamie Dimitry. We went with Jamie and he has been super helpful. They are have the same photog and editing styles and are the same price. No resort fee's as they stay at the resort. So I would highly recommend contacting Michael and Phil. ) -
Choco, very very well said! Not their priority, then not mine. Of course I want everyone to be there, but if they don't want to be, then that's on them. I was considering a reminder in our Christmas cards, but I really don't think we will. Why should I go to the expense of extra stationary if it gets overlooked and ignored. And I really hope your brother gets to come! I don't see any reason for them to decline his request! ) Uhura, you are more than welcome to bond with us May girls ) I too wish our guests were on the ball and making any types of arrangements. We have 1 room booked, ours! and only one person has contacted our Travel Agent. My bridesmaid whom I have known since I was 2, which was honestly the last person I expected to go. My invites have been out for almost 2 weeks. 2 have confirmed via our RSVP card and mailed it to us, but no contact with the TA. I need all of you ladies secrets!! I to am sad to see everyone have dilemmas with guests that are friends and family, but I'm happy to know I'm not the only one wanting to throat choke people! lol. I would never do that, but I hate thinking it at times. lol

Bridesmaid dresses - worn once
MissBubbles205 replied to hilly1gh's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade or Freebies!
Do you have a picture wearing the purple one? ) -
Thank you ) and thanks for the ideas. I have been buying dresses on ebay to see what I like.. lol.. <---Ebay addict here. The orange at Davids bridal is exactly our color orange.. I just bought a watermelon dress from Ebay, it should arrive this week so I can see if that color matches our pink.. but otherwise I may pick out a simple orange dress from DB and find someone with our color pink for the sash and might have to die some shoes unless I get lucky. these ideas just came to me, I'll have to share them with my girls. ) the one with the request is super tan, lucky girl!!! So she will look great in any color. I'm now wishing I would have went with something more simple.. BM dresses are a toughy..

Well I'm happy to hear your fiance's friend took over the deposit! ) Some things we will never understand nor know the truth to, but hey, our weddings will be AWESOME regardless! ) Well good!! ) Mine say the same, it's your wedding not mine. lol.. I did have one request for me to not put them in orange.. But I'm thinking orange dresses with fushia heels and a fushia sash would be super cute! Hey, I have always wanted to go to Jamiaca! )
-
Dang!.. Yes we all have people that are this way it seems!.. It's like one excuse after another.. I wish everyone would just be honest. Is it that tough? I see she would rather plan her own trips and do reno's, but why not just say hey I wish I could be there, I'll help with anything I can, but we really want to see these places or do this to our house. I just have more respect for honest people, even if it's a little to honest. lol. Is there a way you can transfer the deposit you made to someone else? I too think I will see my girls true colors once it's time for them to get their dresses. I have 5 in hope for at least 3 to show. lol.. sad, right? (If anyone needs a spare bridesmaid, I'm up for the trip! lol)

Personally, if you have doubts about the catamaran and hate that the bridesmaids wont be there to enjoy it as part of the wedding, then I would stick with a private dinner that everyone could attend. ) but the catamaran does seem fun, maybe you could just ask a bridesmaids or two their thoughts on this to get thie insight. Sorry I'm not much help. :-/

I know they really don't now, it made me lose a little respect for them, and I honestly thought they were the top 5 of dependable, honest people. I spoke to my FI, he seemed a little upset as I would if my best friend did something like that to me. I def feel for him. OH MY.. ( It's sad to see things like this happen with our own people that we consider best friends, or even fmaily. I'm very sorry to hear what happened in your situation with her being soo flaky. Def not a true best friend and I'm glad you were able to find your true friends in the process! I too totally understand the money issues, and I wont ask anyone of their financials, if they want to be there, then I will be overjoyed and very appreciative. I'd rather them tell me they are sorry and the honest reason why they can't/don't want to come. For all I care they could say they don't want to save up and spend that kind of money for a place we chose. I just hate to hear everyone fall back on the excuse of "we can't afford it that kind of thing" when they have had well over a years notice. I've suggested to my friends who want to honestly come, to save $100 a week from their paychecks. My FI and I have done this and we have come up with soo much money soo fast. Booked our travels $3011, Photog $2600, My Dress, $1000 and the best part we haven't even missed the money.

Thanks Tova for responding. He's been friends with this guy for 7 years and lived together for 4. I have only met the wife a few times so I wasn't too concerned, but I know alex wanted this guy to be his best man. It was just a totally slap in the face to him I feel like. And even worse, they had never even heard of Punta Cana until we chose it for our DW. From what I heard this guy told some friends he was going to our wedding no matter what bc he couldn't miss his best friend getting married. So I'm guessing the spuratic trip was determined by the wife. I talked to Alex and he is making excuses for them and saying he understands, but you can tell he is soo upset. Maybe if they would have picked a different location I would be set a ease a smidge more but not the same exact location. It just seems soo wrong on soo many levels. But you are totally right, the ones that truly love us and support us will be there, and that is truly all that matters. )

OkayI have to vent.. FB is a terrible thing. lol.. My fiance's best friend and wife said they could not attend our wedding due to not wanting to travel with their children and didn't want to leave them home.. I just got on FB and see that one of them posted that they are all set for their trip to Punta Cana in October. This is totally random as they never mentioned to us they were planning a trip to the same place as our wedding location. I didn't want to tell my fiance bc he really wanted this person to be his best man, but understood the travel fee's and children. I'm just totally blown away at the moment.

DIY Cake Toppers
MissBubbles205 replied to MissBubbles205's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Okay, here is the one I used. Font: Monterey BT Height: 5" Width: 5.8" Thickness: 1/8inch My rhinestones that I purchased from ebay still has not come in.. So the stone I used were some that I bought... idk when or why.. lol I looked this morning and the large ones that I used were a 12mm per the package and the other were super duper tiny. I'm gonna guess and say they were between a 1-2mm. I'm sure yours will be tidious but very blingy!! ) I was just too impatient to wait for the new stones to come in. ( -

I too am wanting to do a reception but Idk how we can accomodate it with our dinner not starting until 8. Have you booked a photographer yet? If so, I would speak with them to find out the best times per each thing. Since they deal with soo many weddings they should know the best times to accomodate everything. ) then let us know what they say, as I am curious. I too need to speak with mine again. -

Ugh.. guys always seem to have things easier!.. I really want to try insanity, but working all day and going to night classes 2 days a week, I don't have enough days in the week to commit to the 6. ( but maybe 3/4 days of insanity is better than what I'm doing now. ) Thanks, I'll check out the smoothies )

DIY Cake Toppers
MissBubbles205 replied to MissBubbles205's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Ahh. I didn't know they did that!.. But it only took me maybe 15 mins at most to paint my whole letter. ) I think I went with the 5" I'll look when I get home. I bought the thinest and the next size up, but went with the thinest one as I didn't want it to get too bulky or heavy. The next size up was almost 3x's as thick. Thanks! ) Hmm... maybe 2-3 hours. I totally lost track of time.. you can't tell in this picture, but I think I used the most tiny rhinestoned made in some spots. I highly recommend tweezers ) It made the just sooo much easier.
