I am still a bit confused and maybe someone knows an answer to this. I will have 75 room nights so I get free private functions. So for my reception I will have prob 40-50 people. I know that I saw somewhere that you get a function for 35 people. My question. Will I have to pay for meals for the 5-15 extra people? Is there a limit on how many people you can have at your private function for free. I am aware that extra tables to accommodate seating may cost money but what about the meals? Any info is kindly appreciated.

Every room gets a $1500 credit to use for various things. Golfing, spa treatments, tours, room upgrades, etc. You can even use your $1500 towards select wedding packages. I opted for the complimentary wedding so I can't use it (even for anything I add on to the complimentary wedding) but I can still use it to go to the spa and my fiancee can golf for free. This may be a bonus to people, especially the room upgrade people can use it toward. My guests will be paying about $1800 and having this $1500 really cushioned the blow some people felt about the price. Here check it out. http://www.palaceresorts.com/moonpalace/promotions-en.html

I was quoted about a month ago and I was told: $1000 for ipod and lights. (Ipod $330+ tax for 4 hours, and $660+ tx for 4 hours of lights) $1283 for 4 hours of DJ and lights $1789 for DJ, lights and AV equipment to show a picture slide show. For $600 I guess the slideshow is out. That is ridiculous. I would like to go just ipod but my fiance is adamant about the DJ. Here are the details of the quote: ____________________________________________________________ # of Atendees: 40-50 Set Up: 3:00 PM Event Date & Hour: Wed April 11,2012 6:00 PM-10:00 PM Stike: 10:00 PM $330 AUDIO PACKAGE # 2 (2) Self Powered Speakers (1) CD Player (1) Audio Mixer 6 Channels (1) Plug for IPOD (1) Wireless Microphone (1) Set up & Strike $660 LIGHTING PACKAGE (8) LED Lights (2) Tripods (1) Console NSI (1) Lot of Cables (1) Set up & Strike $586.00 VIDEO PACKAGE (1) Tripod White Screen 96"x96" (1) LCD Proyector (1) LCD Support (lot of cables) (1) DVD (1) Set up and strike _____________________________________________________________________________________ PSAV_-_Wedding_Packages_2011 (2).pdf

Hey Amanda, I was quite shocked at the cost. I guess I thought it would be around $1500 to $1800 max but for a good resort it seems to be closer to $1800 plus. My TA told me flight prices are going up May 2012 so this could be the issue. There are resorts you can go to that will be closer to $1500 but they will be far inferior and I figured might as well get people to pay $200-300 more for a much better resort. I am getting married at Moon Palace (Cancun) in 2013 and it seems to be running between $1800 and $1900 but it is an easy sell to guests because they have a $1500 resort credit promotion. Maybe finding something like that will make you feel at ease about the high cost.

Hi There, My invites just had the week of the wedding trip on them (no even the wedding day) and a URL to my wedding website where I update all the details for people. I plan to send out an info package about 2 months before for people that has an agenda of events included in it with time and location of the wedding. I also plan to have a welcome gathering the day I get there so everyone can come together and meet and I will then tell everyone the time and location of the ceremony and reception. Hope this helps : )

Does the ipod technician do anything besides make sure nothing goes wrong? My Fiancee wants a DJ because he thinks it adds more life to the party having someone getting everyone going. Just wondering how your experience was. I would prefer to save a lot of money and make my own play list. We have tons of music on our computer so it would not be an issue making a killer playlist.

Ya I thought of that. Might get a friend to try it on this weekend. Also, there are these sort of bra insert thingies in it (like a bathing suit has) and they are freakishly close together. I am hoping that a seamstress and take them out or put them further apart because I am not sure what person's ladies can be pushed that close together...hahaha.

Nice work. I love the dress and it looks great on you. In the process of trying to lose about 20lbs to get my dress over my hips. I ordered it 2 sizes too small..he he he. Down 10 lbs since January 9 thanks to my fitness pal. This was very reassuring seeing how happy you are that you got to where you wanted to be in so little time. Congrats.

Hi Ladies, Alright I need some advice. So I am a cheapo and ordered my dress online. The dress looked amazing and was just what I wanted and even though I am not getting married for another year I bought it. I got it about a week ago and since I ordered it 2 sizes too small (in the process of losing about 30-40 lbs) I can't try it on and get a good look. However, the ruching looks all wrong on the top but I can't tell if this is just because it is on a hanger and not on a person and because the corset in the back is not done up. Wondering if perhaps the ruching always looks weird on the hanger but looks better when you get the dress on. It will be about 2 months before I can get it on and have a good look. Any thoughts?

Hi Ladies, Fellow Canadian here. Getting married next year in Mexico. All I have to say is thank god most of my relatives live on US border cities or people would flip at the cost of flying out of Canada. Simply ridiculous how much more it is to get out of Toronto then Detroit.

I am hoping and assuming we will make the 75 room nights but it says the reception is for 35 people. I am wondering though if there is more than 35 people will they charge us like $50 a person for the extra 20-30 people that will be there or will they just charge us for extra table set up? I was supposed to talk to the wedding planner yesterday but she cancelled on me and I am trying to do our budget. And yes, I am a planning freak-a-zoid who does things light years before they need to be done. : )

Hi Ladies, I noticed some talk of photographers. Does anyone know what company/photog the resort uses so that I can perhaps see some of their work? Also, is it a lot more expensive in total to bring in an outside photog? I am really skimping out on most elements of me wedding but I really want the pictures to be nice. I am hoping not to spend more than $1000 and I want a CD with pics on it and I don't care if they give me any actual pics. Any advice or info would be awesome.

The size of the resort was a concern for me too. However, I looked at some reviews and people seem to be saying that it is not hard to get dinner reservations at Moon Palace each night (which can be a major problem at resorts of this size), there are lots of chairs at the beach and pool, and there is a great vibe to this resort regardless of the size. I was looking into Now Sapphire also, which is a smaller resort but I felt that there would not be enough to do for everyone. I have people from the ages of 5 to 90 coming to my wedding so I wanted to make sure there was something for everyone. You have to remember that even though it is huge they have more restaurants, more pool area, and more bars for people so that it coincides with the number of rooms. I personally love big resorts because you never have to leave the resort to find something to do. Hope this helps, Happy resort hunting. I just made my final decision last month so I know it can be hard to pick one.

You can use itunes to burn a CD. Not sure if it will work on a CD player but what you can do is burn it from itunes then rip the CD using Windows Media Player (given you are using a PC and not a MAC). This is what I do to get all my itunes music to convert to MP3s that work anywhere. Once you get the songs ripped onto your computer as Mp3s then you can burn a CD that will play anywhere. Hope this helps. If you need more help let me know.

I actually just bought a bunch of cala lilies at Michael's because they were 40% off and looked real. I am hoping this will not be an issue because I have not consulted with the wedding planner. Luckily, I have a wedding decorator who is a friend of the family that will make them into bouquets. How many were you using per bouquet?
