  1. I really like the passport idea as kind of welcome book. Are you thinking of doing it as kind of an itinerary booklet? Or what was your thought?
  2. Does anyone know if we have to use real rose petals for our ceremony aisle? I wanted the look of a tonne of rose petals to create my aisle runner. They are so expensive whereas you can order fake ones for so cheap. And I would still have my flower girl use real flowers. I'm assuming the hotel does not want fake flowers scattered on their beach though (but of course I have not heard back from them). Also, does anyone know the dimensions of the huppa? I want to rent crystals to hang along the back but need to know how many I need. I received a price from Tai Flora for $325 which I find crazy so I'm going to look online for rental instead.
  3. I will be renting 50 chairs. Using them first for the ceremony and then for the reception. I was going to have my ceremony off site at the aqueducts and then the reception at Aunt Ruby's, but I just found out today that if I go that route then I have to plan the reception through their groups department rather than the wedding department. That would really mess things up as I already have so much back and forth in emails from Tiffany & Nicole. Also, I'm not given priority on reception location if I go the off site ceremony route. So beach ceremony at the resort it is I guess. I just hate that I will be paying the $2,100 wedding fee as well as $18/person plus the cost of the chair just to have someone sit and watch me get married and have one glass of champagne. They really get you on that!
  4. I actually called them on my lunch as well today, but again had to speak to Stachell. I got the impression that she was somewhat new to this as she kept putting me on hold to go ask someone else all of my questions. She said she is going to send me pricing by tomorrow on everything I have requested so we'll see how that comes along. Stachell however told me that the Chivari chairs are $6 each to rent (I oly asked about the silver ones though) and charger plates are $5 each. We'll see if that changes once she confirms with someone else and gives me an actual quotation.
  5. In the wedding package information for a legal marriage it notes that we are required to submit a 'notarized copy of the bride and groom birth certificate which must include the fathers name'. Our birth certificates in Canada do not have a mother or fathers name on them. Does anyone know exactly what is required? Just notarized photocopies or our passports and birth certificates, or something more?
  6. I am having a very difficult time with Tai Flora as well. I have even called a couple of times but whoever I need to speak to is apparently always at the warehouse and are suppose to call me back. Also, for my wedding apparently the person at Tai Flora is now (Staschell Fraser). Originally I was getting one line responses from Jodi-Ann Miller but it has now switched to Staschell. My wedding is just over 3 months away and I need some pricing from them so I can determine if I am going to pay all of their rental costs to have a beach reception or if I am going to stick to Aunt Ruby's. If I stick to Aunt Ruby's then I think I am going to use a different flower vendor (Floral Fantasies) and just pay the outside vendor fee. They were great to deal with and would send responses back to me along with prices within one day.
  7. I went with Merrick and he has been great with responses, contract, etc. I love his style and his prices are reasonable.
  8. Does anyone have a good version of 'Can't help falling in love' by Eddie Vedder or Pearl Jam. We love it and think there are only live versions, but I want to find the best live version so we can edit out most of the screaming fans .
  9. I just wanted to let all of you know that I am flying my hairdresser down with me for my wedding. I have very thick and randomly curly hair and have had some horror stories with resort hairdressers in the past (not at the iberostar though). Anyway we are there jan.3-10 so if any of you are interested in her doing your hair or your wedding party hair during that week she said she could help out (but not jan.7th cause that's my big day!). I'm not sure how much she will charge but if your interested just message me and I can get you more information.
  10. Yes the $55/person only applies if you are having your dinner/reception on the beach rather than in one of the restaurants.
  11. When did or when are you planning to hand out your OOT bags? I'm debating whether to do it at the airport or transport 50+ bags down there to hand out at our welcome party. I'm thinking handing them out there would be cool, but at the same time I don't want the hassle of hauling down over 100lbs of stuff along with all my other wedding stuff.
  12. Hi Becky, I'm planning on having a beach dinner at the Suites as well, but don't have a whole lot of information. All the set up and everything is suppose to go through Tai Flora (apparently the resort doesn't do much for the beach receptions). So I'm waiting for pricing back from Tai Flora on dance floor, chairs, table runners, lights, votives, etc. The hotel has provided me with the following pricing: Tent - they have said $600 but I need to confirm with Tai Flora as they are the provider. I have seen photos of a clear tent that looks pretty nice. Slideshow screen and equip = $450 Dinner = $55/person plus open bar of $10/person (this includes setting up of tables with beige table cloths with white overlays and chair with chair cover) DJ = $150/hr Dance Floor - again they have said $500 but I need to confirm with Tai Flora as they are the provider. LED Lights - Nicole had said $40 each but then in a later email Tiffany said they would not provide $50 fee if we bring our own paper lanterns and we want them to set up Hope that helps and if anyone else has any other information it would be helpful to know.   14. Just curious if anyone has any suggestions on a change of venue for the second week (for our honeymoon). We don't want to do 2 weeks in the same area and were thinking either Negril or Ocho Rios or even flying to Barbados or something. Any input on places you guys looked at our have booked would be great!
  15. Does anyone know if there are any weddings at the Suites on September 1st or 2nd, 2012. I'm thinking about heading down to Jamaica to meet with the wedding coordinators and figure out where I want to have the ceremony/reception/etc. but want haven't been able to reach them to determine if they will even be available to meet with me on either of those days. I don't want to head all the way down there and have them busy or not there. And I also don't want to take away from someone else who may be getting married one of those days.
  16. I got a price of $450 from Tiffany for the full screen and projector set up for a beach reception. I'm not sure if that still applies if you are in a restaurant. It may be slightly sheaper as they already have power, etc there.
  17. Kristi, When you went did you happen to look at the rooms at the Grand as well as the suites? My grandma is coming and her main concern is how comfy the beds are. She is thinking of upgrading to the Grand just for herself but has also heard they have the same beds in both resorts. And Iberostar isn't really telling us much. She won't be using any of their restuarants or anything because she will want to be with all of us, so her main reason will be simply for the rooms & their beds. She wants to know if it will be worth it. Shauna

  19. Kristi, Did you happen to notice how windy the beach is in the evening? We are debating whether it is worth it to pay the extra cost to have the entire reception/dinner/dance on the beach. It is really what we want, but don't want to be paying all that money and then have sand blowing in our food or something. Also, does anyone plan to have a slideshow or anything for their wedding? I'm curious if the resort has the capabilities for that (ie. screen/projector/sound/etc). And, did you happen to check out the disco? If so, what are your thoughts on everyone heading there after our own reception dance. I don't want to be bringing Grandma to a sweaty 'club' where everyone is grinding:), but I also think it would be a lot of fun to have everyone let loose! Shauna
  20. I am also stressing about getting my hair done and am even considering flying my hairdresser down for the week to do my hair along with the whole wedding party. But that might be a bit extreme:). I'm not so worried about makeup as my mom is a makeup artist. If any of you have heard any reviews of the resort hair dressers or know of any really good outside vendors for hair I would appreciate some input. Thanks!

  22. Thanks for the input vbbbtk! So if we didn't rent out the steakhouse for the dinner, then did you still get tables altogether and still get to decorate everthing with a head table and so forth? And did you stay there for speeches and dance? I don't want to disturb other peoples dinner by having our speeches out loud while they are eating. And I want to make sure I can have my first dance and father/daughter dance there with the DJ. Do you have any input on the mediteranean restuarant? My theme is very vintage with all creams and light pinks so it doesn't really fit in with the red/blue/green/yellow that they have going on in there. If you have any pictures it would be great if you could forward me the link. Thanks.
  23. So the Suites wedding coordinator just sent me the new information package for 2013 which now says that you need 100-200 guests to rent out Aunt Ruby's steakhouse. This now changes everything for us because we only have 50 guests and wanted an outdoor reception. Calabrash we need 70-100 people so that doesn't work either. So pretty much our only option is either the Mediteranean (which isn't really the look I was going for) or reception on the beach. I haven't really heard anyone mention anything about having their reception on the beach at all. Has anyone read any reviews or have any information on this? I have the pricing for the WC, but I haven't seen photos or anything of what it would look like. My main worry is it getting too cold and windy. Any input would be appreciated.
