  1. I love this mini piñata idea! I made some for my wedding... took forever! https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/206777720/mini-pinata-cinco-de-mayo-fiesta-party
  2. There is also what I call the "Mexi Michaels" in Playa del Carmen. We bought all of our vases there as well as ribbon, balloons etc. There are fabric stores in town as well for lace and other rustic looking fabrics. I packed 2 boxes of decor to bring down as they were only $20 each to check as long as they were under 50 pounds. It was mostly paper goods, banners/flags I ordered from Etsy: www.etsy.com/ca/shop/lulaflora so it worked well! Good luck!
  3. I made mine for our wedding but if I would have known how much time it was going to to take I would have gladly paid the extra $! Amols was great too. Pretty cheap! A few Etsy shops have great designs and aren't too expensive: https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/AyMujer https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/lulaflora https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/Vintagebabydoll
  4. It was absolutely worth it for our wedding. Erica from Weddings in Playa took care of every last detail and made it easy for us to enjoy our friends and family worry free! And yes, we did save money here and there due to her contacts and recommendations. I definitely suggest you look into it!
  5. I used Doranna who gets amazing reviews and she was fantastic. She'll travel to you and do trials as well. Trained in Italy and worked around the world. Super amazing and talented woman! http://dorannahairstylist.com
  6. I haven't heard of them... I hired Doranna and she was amazing. Lots of pics for inspiration on her site as well: http://dorannahairstylist.com Your resort shouldn't charge you to bring in a stylist.
  7. Hi and Congrats! I used a bunch of vendors that were super - I wrote a review/breakdown here:http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/83135/our-wedding-dream-team#post_1838508 I highly recommend Doranna for hair - she was great! And I loved our flowers: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/florieria-jardin-garden-florists/reviews/6655 Good luck with the planning process, enjoy!
  8. Hi, I wrote this breakdown of who we used for our wedding at a beach club you may find helpful: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/83135/our-wedding-dream-team#post_1838508 I also posted individual reviews for most vendors. We gave our guests 3 options for accommodations, all within walking distance in town and it worked out great as there was something to fit every budget. There are many inexpensive and amazing restaurants in town. You just need to do a bit of research and compile a short list to help everyone out. Look these up to start! El Fogon La Piola El Diez Carboncitos La Kalaka Las Brisas Our guests stayed at Las Palapas, The Bric, Aventura Mexicana and we stayed in the condo affiliated with Las Palapas. Everyone had a great time!
  9. Worth checking out! Both of the recommendations are normally under $100 a night for 2 adults. I usually go on Orbitz and sort by best value or lowest price then look the ones I think look good up on Tripadvisor. We've been to Playa a dozen times, feel free to ask if you have any questions!
  10. Hi, Acanto is right in the heart of downtown, so yes, it is a good base if you want to experience all the amazing things Playa has to offer while doing your site visits. I would check reviews to make sure noise isn't an issue as you will be fairly close to 12th, the big nightclub scene (think: BOOM BOOM BOOM until 5am...) There are some wonderful boutique hotels that include breakfast a little further north, where, in my opinion, some of the better restaurants and beaches are. It's also a "newer" part of town so less vendors and souvenir shop type stores. You may want to check out Hotel Aventura Mexicana or La Tortuga. Both really nice, clean, comfortable and charming and still right in the heart of town. I've stayed at both and loved them. Good luck!
  11. One of my favorite villa weddings is this one: http://www.playa.info/playa-del-carmen-forum/59230-our-wedding-playacar-11-days-playa-del-carmen-nov-2010-a.html I'd also suggest hiring a planner to help bring it all together. You'll want to spend your time enjoying your friends and family, not running around and organizing! They can also help sort all the payments and coordinate with vendors. A huge plus.
  12. Thank you! I'll send you what I've got, no problem. We did have grandma there and she loved every minute. A wheelchair might be tricky at Blue Venado as the entire venue is in the sand but the people there were fabulous to work with and I'm sure would try and facilitate.
  13. Bonjour de Montreal! We also were really set on a private venue and chose Blue Venado Beach Club. It's totally private and really beautiful. You can see my review here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/blue-venado-beach-club/reviews/6650 And you can find more pictures in my other reviews! Good luck!
  14. Hi, You may have already picked your vendors but thought my review on who we used could help future brides as it answers all your questions! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/83135/our-wedding-dream-team#post_1838508 And Rama - Weddings in Playa have planned weddings in Tulum, Cancun, Puerto Morelos and beyond... highly suggest you consider them!
  15. Stressing you out is the opposite of what your planner should be doing! So sorry to hear you're having this problem. If you are already experiencing this kind of bad service, I wouldn't hesitate to switch! You need to be able to count on quick replies and someone who is able to make the planning process easy and fun. I can't say enough about the planners we used for our past November wedding. Erica and Maria at Weddings in Playa. You can check out my review and others on this site. Hope things turn around for you! And of course, congrats!
