  1. We leave at 6:30 Wednesday morning ! mstigger- It's too bad you won't be there this Saturday, you could come watch our ceremony! We'll be there until the 21st too, maybe we'll run into each other. We'll be staying in a casita, but we do have guests staying on the royale side. We've been counting down this trip for many months so if you see a rowdy crowd from Indiana having a good time, that may be us After having my first dress ruined in alterations, I bought my second dress and I am happy to say that it now fits just the way I hoped it would! My to-do list seems to be growing even as I check items off of it! We still have to pick our ceremony music, finish packing, and run last minute errands. I almost don't want Wednesday to get here because I know that our time at EDR will go so quickly once we arrive
  2. I decided it was worth the extra money to buy another dress and called David's Bridal to put one on hold for me. I got on Ebay afterwards, honestly not expecting to even find my dress listed, and found that the only dress listed like mine just happened to be in my size! And even better, it was listed for $100 less than David's price and even included free shipping! That was my sign, so I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival to my door! The dress isn't real big so taking two down and using the old one for a TTD session would work out good. Maybe I can get it cleaned up good enough to sell when we get home too! Thanks for the suggestions ladies Jillsepher - Any unexpected illness would be incredibly tough to deal with so close to your big trip, but I can't imagine how much harder it is when it's your vision! We take it for granted and never think of how tough it would be without it. Thank goodness for the timing! I'm glad to hear you are doing better...keep us updated! TheWolferts - Did they have false eyelahes at the salon when you got your wedding makeup done? I'm not sure wether to bring some from home or not. Also, what kind of sunscreen did you take and did you think it was enough? I've read reviews where people say only zinc oxide works in the Mexican sun but also have heard that regular SPF 30 is enough protection. I've bought both but I don't want to risk getting fried before the wedding !! We're down to three weeks before take off ! I think I can honestly say I've never been more excited for anything in my life! My FI and I have been on TripAdvisor.com reading people's reviews of the resort and looking at pictures they have posted. Some people really dog the resort but it makes you wonder if they're the kind of people who can never be pleased in life, and others offer really good tips and advice (like packing floats or rafts if you're staying in a swim up). 3. I need some opinions, ladies! My grandma's good friend did my dress alterations for me. She's been sewing for years and does a lot of wedding alterations. I picked up my dress from her yesterday and its TOO SHORT! I've been holding back the tears . I couldn't bring myself to say anything to her because she's not charging anything for her work and her and my grandma both just thought it looked perfect when I tried it on. I thought maybe I was just over reacting and I knew if I told her I was unhappy my grandma would feel so guilty. When she measured it for me I was barefoot since that is how I will be for our wedding and she pinned it perfectly. I wanted it to still cover my feet but not be long enough to step on. Now you can see the tops of my feet while standing still and my ankles when I walk. I went straight to my MILs house when I left with my dress for her opinion and she agreed that it was too short but didn't think it was short enough for people to really notice it. There is no material left in the hem to let it out and its chiffon so adding material to it wouldn't work either without changing the look of the dress. My FI said I should go buy another dress and have it redone by another person if I'm that unhappy with it. Luckily, David's Bridal stocks my dress in store and the cost of two dresses would still be cheaper than what some people pay for just one dress. After sleeping on it, I don't know that I want to put my wedding dress on and be unhappy with it in any way. We are 28 days out until the wedding and 25 until we leave so I need to be making my decision soon! Am I over reacting? And am I crazy to go buy another dress??
  4. We leave in 37 days !! A question for the ladies who have been there...what did you do about steaming your dress? My dress is chiffon and very flowy and I doubt I can get it down there without wrinkling it. I've heard that EDR offers a steaming service but I haven't heard anything about prices yet. It kind of makes me nervous to hand my dress over to the resort. I don't like the thought of not having control over how its handled. I remember reading on here from another bride that when they returned the dress to her room afterwards they hung it from the bed without the bag and her fiance walked in and saw it. I would not be happy if that happened.
  5. chiquita8302 - My colors are coral and navy! Are you having a hard time finding coral decorations? I am! I found coral table lanterns at Target but we are only doing a semi-private dinner after our ceremony so I won't need to decorate for a reception. Our ceremony is at D'ITALIAS gazebo which isn't the same style as Gazebo 55. We wanted to rent colored sheers but it won't have the same effect on our gazebo. I want to hang some coral and navy paper lanterns around the gazebo but I am having a hard to finding a true coral color. Most are too pink. Also, after seeing that some brides on here were able to set up their own decorations and avoid paying the set-up fee, I just told Valeria that my family would be doing the set-up. I also mentioned that I had seen on "a forum" that this has been allowed in the past at no charge (because I've heard that the Lomas people look at this thread). Valeria was ok with it and just asked for a description of the items we'd be setting up.
  6. TheWolferts - Your pictures are great! I'd also like to know about your starfish chair hangers from your ceremony. I originally thought I would make these since I only need four to six but I recently found some on Etsy. Did you make yours and purchase them? Thanks
  7. Stina, you are getting married at the Presidential Gazebo aren't you? Is there a north and a south one? I've seen pictures of a presidential gazebo that looks like it is lined on one side with bushes or trees. We currently have our ceremony booked for D'ITALIA Gazebo but have the option to change it to the Presidential. Valeria said it is the one that is south of the casitas section and not too far from the Fuentes Gazebo. Do you know which one she's talking about?
  8. I found mine at Staples in their dollar section about a month ago. I've seen where some brides picked their's up in Target's dollar section but I haven't seen them at mine yet this year. Good luck!
  9. I checked out Avon's website and those starfish sandals are on sale for $14.99!
  10. I also love those starfish sandals but I can't justify spending that much money right now! I thought I'd share these sandals I bought yesterday at Old Navy for $18. They are really cute! http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=55151&vid=1&pid=897806&scid=897806002
  11. Hey AllieH, I too envy Stina's starfish sandals!! I found them online but can't justify spending around $120 for them right now. I found these sandals at Old Navy yesterday for $18. The starfish are a little smaller but I still really like them!! http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=55151&vid=1&pid=897806&scid=897806002
  12. Does anyone know how EDR serves their beer? I'm looking into koozies for our welcome bags and I'm not sure if I should get can or bottle koozies. Thanks
  13. I purchased my dress yesterday at David's Bridal. It was the first dress I tried on and I fell in love with it! I saw it online before going into the store and wasn't too impressed, but I think the model wearing it and the setting of the picture gave it a different feel. It's very light-weight and comfortable and great for a beach wedding. I'm not going to wear a veil, maybe just a flower in my hair. The dress does have a train that you can't see well in the pictures. The best part was a sale price of $250!!
  14. I was torn between ordering my invitations from a professional service or making them myself. Seeing how great yours turned out gives me the confidence to do them myself! I hope I have the same success you did! I do not have access to download the template you used so I need to get to posting! Thank you for sharing!
