As Shannonmarie said 45 days prior to the wedding is when those details are due to Pilar regarding food choices.  I do know that Pilar said during the webinair in March that for an additional fee your guests can decide on the spot which entree they would like...I don't know exactly how much extra that is though since I plan on organizing food choices ahead of time!

Hey everyone! I just recently signed the wedding contract for April 17th, 2013!! So far I've done everything through my travel agent, so I was wondering when Pilar started to contact everyone?

I booked my flight and accommodations thru a TA but spoke directly with Pilar to confirm wedding date, time, locations etc.  Has your TA done all of that for you?  If not I would recommed you get in touch with Pilar (email works but a phone call to her is the fastest way to get a response) ASAP so you can complete the required paperwork and put down a deposit to hold your date and package.  Hope that helps!

PS Congrats on booking!  I thought deciding on a resort was the most difficult part of wedding planning thus far!

Thanks for sharing - sounds like despite the rain you still had an amazing time!  Your photos are awesome - the one with you and yoru husband by the pergola at night is breath-taking!!!  Congrats!

I thought I read in one of the reviews that a previous bride had purchased a CD with her photos on it (all of the photos taken in the 2 hours they booked him for, paying an extra $100/hr for the second hour) for around $500?

Also in the information section of this thread (under photography) it says:

You can possibly buy the CD with all the pictures (unedited?) for an additional $350   (I'm assuming this is based on what a previous bride was able to do.)

Does anyone know if there is an extra charge for the flowers at the ceremony at the Pergola?  (Divine pkg)  Such as this- not the flower petals but the flowers on the actual pergola.... Thanks!

Yes I believe there is an additional charge -- I think the white fabric for drapping and 1 centerpiece for the judge's table is all that is included in the package price.  That's what I have gathered from my conversations with Pilar at least.

I  know the eternity package is $48 for the reception and divine is $53, but what about the buffet? I'm just trying to figure out which would be more cost effective.

Also, is the Bride & Groom included in the 25?

Lastly, I've believe I heard other brides mention not paying extra per person for the cocktails and appetizers at the cocktail hour and that there was enough food & drinks (as long as people are not greedy, lol). I cannot find where I read that. Has anyone else heard this? What about the champagne toast?

I know I have read on here about not needing extra appetizers, I think they base their numbers on 6 pieces per person???  But I don't have the conversation saved so I can't be certain.

Champagne toast I believe is for 25, so any additional guests would be extra $$.

  7. We started by figuring out what we HAD to have (AI, legal ceremony, all suites etc), what would be nice to have (multiple a la carte options, lazy river, swim up suites etc) and what would be a deal breaker (decor, size etc) in terms of resorts.  From there we were able to weed out resorts that didn't meet our requirements.  Then we were able to look more closely at the wedding packages offered at the resorts we had considered to see if anything stood out as great (or not so great).  Once we had a more managable list of resorts we asked our TA to start pricing.  We had in advance done a bit of checking (online and from discussions with our TA) about ballpark pricing so that we didn't fall in love with a resort that was double our budget.

CONGRATS and good luck -- picking the resort is definitely the most challenging part!

  8. I was hoping to keep my dress under $1k -- but at luck would have it a bridal store a short distance way was closing and they had everything marked WAY down -- I got my dress for just under $400!!  It was a sample but it had come in less than a month prior so it hadn't been tried on a ton of times.  I was also able to get my hair piece and jewelry that day for 70% off so all said and done my entire day of apparel will be like half of what I had originally budgeted just for the dress!  Gotta love deals like that!

  9. Definitely follow JayKay's advice - decide what you must have, what you'd really like to have and if there are any deal killers and go from there.  Once you have those things set in your mind it will be easier to weed out resorts that don't make the cut!

I suppose it would be more of a welcome dinner than rehersal dinner as I would like to invite all of my guest, not only the wedding party (which is only like 6 people!). I'd hate to have a dinner and not include everyone that is traveling to be there. It won't be anymore than 50 people. How much would it be to have a private dinner? Could we just meet at one of the resturants at a certain time and just sit in our own area? I assume a private dinner would be pretty expensive? I was thinking I could just put a schedule of events in our welcome letter telling people to meet at maybe the lobby bar for cocktails, then go to a restaurant for dinner but would this accomadate up to 50 people? What are your thoughts?

I think the cost to rent a private terrace for this sort of thing is $500 and that does not include food.  As the other girls have said - buffet is free no matter what size your group is, whereas groups larger than 10 are charged $20/pp at the ala carte restaurants.

We just booked for June 8, 2013. We're listed as going with the Eternity package right now, but may upgrade to Divine for the food choices. I was wondering when you all sent out your invitations and when you required rsvp? We've got a block of rooms reserved, and the deposit isn't much for people to choose and hold a room. I figure if people do it early, there will be more choice (and cheaper rates) if it turns out we need to add more rooms and/or different types of rooms. We're also struggling to figure out how much we can do diy for decorations. The flowers and decor items are ridiculously expensive for anything upgrade or not included in the packages, and I prefer lanterns and candles and things over flowers anyway.

Congrats on booking your date! The hard part is over ;)

I gave approximately 90 days for guests to RSVP and put down their deposits, simply because that is how long our group quote (for flights and accommodation) is valid from our TA.  We are getting married in February and sent out our STDs in mid-May so guests have till end of July to put a deposit down with the guaranteed rate.  We will of course be happy if guests decide after that date to join us but we have just put it out there we don't know what the prices will do and that if left too long you risk not having the same flight etc as the rest of the group.

I'm also still TBD on decoration -- I do know you can use an external florist and the resort won't charge you a vendor fee if you meet them outside the property gates...something to consider maybe?
