Mlite, you are a God send! We've been waiting for somone to purchase and post the grey check plaid. We ordered swatches, but my Fi was worried the check plaid would be to overwhelming in real life compared to a 2" swatch.  We've purchased two other suits, becuase he was too nervous to order but he's not happy with either.  I think this will win him over (fingers crossed).  I hope you dont mind if I come back with questions.

By the way, this looks great on your Fi. I'm glad the two of you are happy with the results. Thanks for shairng!

Let me know if you want me to get a photo of the fabric up close :)

Thanks!! We are both very happy with the suit!  The shirt is linen too - but we didn't order it from studio suits - FI picked it up a few months ago at winners.  It is short sleeve and he is thinking he would prefer long sleeve so that shirt might get bumped to some other pre-wedding event.

Here is FI in his suit from Studio Suits - we went with the light hawaiian grey check fabric (which added $40) but the lighting isn't awesome in these pictures so it is hard to see the fabric clearly.  The jacket is slim fit and the pants straight leg. Don't mind the wrinkles we were so excited it came he just put it right on - although for travelling from India folded in a bag I think it looks not bad for wrinkles!

If anyone has questions let me know - we are definitely impressed and would highly recommend!

    Thanks for the guidance!

We just got our suit last week - and it is great - the fabric (we went with the cotton linen blend) is refined and appropriate weight - won't be too hot in the sun but structured enough to keep the modern shape. Everything with the suit was impecably finished - edges matched up (we went with the light hawaiian grey check), nicely finished and lined etc.

    Did the suit fit well?

The fit is awesome - we did custom measurements and everything is perfect!  The pants maybe a smidge long depending on what shoes/sandals we find but that is easy enough to hem if he goes with a very flat sandal.  We did a slim fit jacket and straight leg pants and are very happy.  FI is thinking of ordering another suit to have for other occassions too, he likes it more than his suit from Moore's (which was waaaayyyy more money!)  We will take photos and post them soon!

If you have ordered a suit from here exactly how long does it take?

We just ordered FI custom measured linen suit and it was about 2 weeks from when we put the order in to when we received it.  We requested they contact us if any of our measurements seemed off but there was no issue so it was very speedy.  We are super impressed with the suit - cut, fabric and quality are all awesome.  We would highly recommend!

Thanks so much! This is definately something we are looking to add. Has anyone else cut out their cocktail hour due to a high number of guests. Originally we were expecting 60 but it now looks like we are close to 86. Wheew. I cannot afford to pay $20/person for champaign and hore d'ovres. This wedding is adding up very quickly!

We don't have to cut our cocktail hour (37 guests coming, and 8 in wedding party plus family members that will be pulled out for some photos so I'm not too concerned about amount of food) but just FYI have you considered using the cocktail hour at another point during your trip? Maybe for your rehearsal night since you could have a smaller crowd?  Just a thought??

  8.  This guest book prompts for guests to answer such as “Where you do you see us in 10 years?â€, “How to Be the Perfect Wife†and “How to Be the Perfect Husbandâ€. We are considering it, the orginal idea is by etsy seller agent kat but she is not taking orders till jan. 2013 i see on her shop page...maybe DIY?!

Here are a few other guest book ideas to consider: http://emmalinebride.com/handmade-wedding/unique-guest-books/

  9. I posted it earlier in the OOT bag thread but just wanted to let you girls know that Shoppers has their life brand aloe vera gel on for $2 right now. it is a good size bottle too (150ml) but supplies will be limited since it is end of season clearance.

  10. Photography has always been important to my fiancé and me.  There is a difference between a snapshot taken by chance and one which has been carefully executed.  The consideration of light, placement and the feelings conveyed are so important in photography yet it seems often overlooked.  For our wedding we want to have photos that reflect the spirit of the day – the love we share with each other, the happiness felt by those present and the fun memories made.  As a destination wedding means that not everyone is able to join us in Mexico I think photography that conveys the feelings, emotions and sense of commitment shared on our wedding day is an essential part of sharing our day with friends and family at home.  I know that my memories of our wedding day will be cherished but having spectacular photographs to accompany those memories and share with friends and family will only serve to enhance our special day.

    With Thanks!

Eventually we decided on NOW Jade and then when we got the confirmation invoice from the UK, it says its for the Renewal of Vows Package. I have just queried that with the UK Travel Agent, and she said "as you will already be married you cannot have the wedding package, you will have the Renewal of Vows package. The ceremony is similar and it is the hotelâ€s wedding co-ordinator who performs the Renewal as it is not a legal ceremony"

I have read so many reviews on here of people who had their civil wedding at home, then had a symbolic blessing in Mexico. I want our day on the beach to feel like our wedding day... To me, a wedding co-ordinator performing my marriage, doesnt sound very romantic or special :(

The reason, we have decided to have a civil wedding at home is to avoid blood tests, translations etc... But this is the first time anyone mentioned to me that we could not be 'married' if we are married here!!

Any thoughts or input greatly appreciated :) Has anyone had anything similar?

My TA refers to the symbolic and vow renewal as one in the same even though the resort offers different packages for either...if you are already legally married (or just don't want to deal with the legalities of mexican wedding) you will have a symbolic ceremony. I have never heard it is the WC who performs the ceremony tho, I think your TA is off.  You can have a friend do your symbolic ceremony or the "services of a judge or minister" - directly from Now Jade website.

I would contact Pilar for more information if you are still uncertain.

    Hey Choco Taco,

Thanks for bringing this up.  I actually use tripadvisor alot for planning my trips.  I relied on it alot when choosing to visit Now Jade for my site visit.  Being so busy with wedding planning, I stopped checking them as frequently. But when I saw your post, I decided to check them again for an update. I have to agree with you, that lately the number of negative reviews for Now Jade has increased.  I'm quite shocked because I'm not used to seeing that.  In fact, Now Jade usually has pretty stellar reviews on tripadviser.  Alot of these negative are fairly recent (since mid July), but I don't know of any management changes, so it is a little unsettling to see them.

Considering that I rely on tripadvisor for hotel reviews (as do many of my friends), I feel like these types of negative reviews can deter people from staying at Now Jade.  Like you, one of the most important things for me as a bride, is to ensure that my guests have a great time.  Especially since they are making a financial commitment to be there with us on our wedding day.

Based on my personal experience visiting Now Jade, I never experienced any of the issues that the negative reviews indicated.  However, I felt that they were pretty consistent overall, so it has me a little concerned (particularly, the sanitary ones).  I follow Now Jade on Facebook too, but I don't every see anything bad there, so I'm not really sure what to believe.

I felt the best thing that I could do, is just alert Now Jade management about these poor reviews on Trip Advisor. Since poor feedback can hurt their business, I'm sure they will try to address these issues.  I also noticed that Olivia, the social media rep who usually responds to reviews on FB and Tripadvisor, had stopped responding to feedback on Trip Advisor, so maybe they just aren't aware of them??? Who knows.  In any case, I figured that it wouldn't hurt to alert them of the poor feedback they were getting.  And hopefully it gives them an opportunity to address them on-line, but more importantly at the resort (if there's any truth to them).

Maybe if other brides do the same, it will prompt Now Jade management to look into the poor feedback.  Just a suggestion!  I sent them a message via their Facebook account (but not on their wall).  I figured a message is better since I didn't want to scare any guests who were checking FB.    Maybe by bring up these poor reviews to their attention, they can do something about it.  Ultimately though, you just have to hope for the best.  Like the other ladies suggested, you have to take these things with a grain of salt.  My hope is that the positive reviews (which totally outnumber the poor ones) are more accurate.  And I also just think back to how good my own visit was, so I think everything will work out just perfect!  :)

If I hear back from the hotel management about my message, I'll let you ladies know.  Please keep me posted too, should you decide to send them a message! Good luck!

I know Olivia was off for 2 weeks of holidays (or there abouts) so maybe that's why there hasn't been a response to the trip advisor reviews yet.  I saw she is posting on FB again so she is back now.

  13. We just ordered fiances suit on the weekend so we don't know how we did for sizing yet but I did notice that they had updated the measurement section of the website (I think we got an email about it a few months back after creating an account) so I was hesitant to take advice of adding inches here and there based on other's experiences from more than the last 6-8 months...I figured the changes to how to measure might have changed (improved) so it wasn't necessary.  I'll post once we get his suit in!

Check out Now Jade on Facebook, quite often brides post links to their video on there...otherwise I know that if you go back in this thread some previous brides have posted their videos.

Since January I have been diligently reading reviews on Now Jade on a weekly/semi-weekly basis, but have become concerned over the past month with the number of negative reviews that Iâ€ve been reading. I read every review with a grain of salt. I know that some people are impossible to please, while others can be too easily impressed.  However, there are more and more negative reviews that are a bit unsettling. Chance are, if these reviews were posted when I choosing a resort, I might have been leary to book my wedding here. I donâ€t mean to put anyone on edge, I guess Iâ€m just hoping for a bit of reassurance.

I haven't been following traipadvisor but I have been watching Now Jade on FB and I have only seen 1 negative review in the past several months (and he complained about everything - ants, the wind, the juice, the towels etc) so obviously he isn't an accurate or representative reviewer.  Otherwise there are dozens of positive remarks each week - lots of repeat customers and quite a few brides too.  Hopefully that can put you at ease a bit!

During the spring webinair Pilar said on the terrace you can have round, rectangular or a long table.  The long table can be for 20-40 people.  Round table can hold 8-10 (I think about 1 m across) so I would guess the rectangular table would be similar?

Do you definitely want custom bags?  I saw browing Creative Bags and they have quiet a few options for great prices but I don't know much about their personalization options.  Might be worth a look?
