Hey Noelle, I am having around the same amount of people ( i think ) and we are doing a seated dinner on the deck. Yamina confirmed 3 options with me.... a chicken, lamb chops, and steak.... I am putting it on my response cards and as long as I tell them a month in advance how many of each she said it was fine. I am waiting for an official confirmation from Lorena now before I order the response cards just incase of anything. . . but as far as Yamina ( my 1st coordinator ) went she said it was fine. Our first course is an arugala salad & then a pasta and then the dinner. I told them it was impossible for me to choose one entree for all my guests and my fiance reallly did not want the buffet..... good luck!

Ok girls as you can see when I first get to work I am bored... the video below, if I posted the link right is a girl doing a tour and it shows Desire's Terrace.... to me it looks nothing liek the picture I posted. In the picture it lookes round, like it has couches all around, and does not have a roof- in the video which is the way I remembered it, there are poles, a roof, and no couches around. Okay I am going to take everyone's word for it that the pic i posted is desire's terrace lol i am positive that i seen something else called Desire's terrace and that it was not as open-air as whats in that picture, but maybe there are two different areas and I just never seen that one..

anyway I am trying to work out my budget and just get an overall idea on what i am spending and its impossible with no emails back. i am trying to stay as calm as possible since i do have a while, but i do think in the beginning they should answer all of our questions, then they can ignore us for a while lol i dont mind if my coordinator doesn't bother with me for a while but at least answer my initial questions so that I can do the rest... i dunno thats just my opinion!!!! if not for this forum I would be LOST. or dreams could easily make a better catalog and put prices next to the pictures and things like that so that we can all download it and have so many less questions anyway. lol ok im just venting because so far i cant tell if what im expecting is gong to cost me 10k or 30k lol

i also confirmed certain dinner options with Yamina, that I am waiting for Lorena to confirm before I send out my invitations, which I wanted to send out sometime in August, but its already the end of July and she hasn't responded to my e-mail asking her to confirm this. I cannot put the menu options on my response cards and then find out that DRC changed their minds lol

you looked amazing.. your pics are beautiful & your wedding looked like a great time.. you got me psyched!!! I am having my reception on the deck but i loved the way yours looked on the sand... When i was there I only saw them on the pool deck so I couldn't picture it on the sand but now that I seen yours I might even make the switch.

I vote for the purple dress My neice is only going to be 5 and I might even put her in like a 'junior bridesmaids dress rather than the typical flower girl looking dress.... theres somethign about it that I like better... and i think your best man and maid of honor ideas are great. we are doing a bridal party with 6 people each and i sorta regret it. it makes everything more expensive... i feel bad about not picking more people ( but also i would have noone in the audience lol ).. and i dont know its just a pain in the neck!

Noelle, i really am not sure because when I was there we went to Desires and outside of Desires is a nice area, but it is covered... it does not have the couches all around. if you tube it one of the girls on here took a video of it...... BUT on some sites people are calling this desires terrace lol if i had to guess I would say thisis an area outside of one of the restaurants and it does look like an awesome cocktail hour location....... just wish I knew where it was and if i could have it LOL

2. I am still up in the air about my cocktail hr location..... why do u say u would have chosen the jacuzzi over the beach ? Lorena has me down for jacuzzi but i actually asked for the beach & im also interested in finding out where the pic that i posted in an earlier post is.... whats ur take on the cocktail hr locations and do you have a pic of your set up ? ?

can someone please tell me where this is !!?!??!?!? i went to DRC over a year ago and cannot picture this location. i see someone put that its the desires terrace but ive seen the video and other pics of the terrace and it looks liek it has a roof over it.... this picture threw me for a loop because it looks like an awesome cocktail hour spot but i cant picture where it is !?!??!

I didnt think about using Desires but its actually not a bad idea... hmmm i have to say though when I visited dreams i dont remember it being as nice as it looks in the pics.... could be because it was at night- and i was having many drinks LOL but in the pics it looks awesome.. there is also a pool table not shown in the pics... either way- thank you !!

I believe it is around $500 to rent the furniture ( a little ridiculous ). They set up couches on the beach... a while ago I seen a picture and it looked beautiful but will people in their bathing suits be standing right next to us ?- i cant seem to get an answer on this. The cocktail hour locations aren't really great thats the one part that has me a little bummed.... i dont like the jacuzzi either & my 3 year old son will be there and i can picture myself telling him not to put his feet in it every 5 minutes!!! ahh what to do.. what to dooo! also i wouldnt really decorate the area besides the lounge furniture because it will still be pretty light out around cocktail hour time... so I would just have a simple set up and worry about lighting for the reception instead..

i anyone has more info on this or any cocktail hour locations please share with us! i believe its rounded couches with little tables and decorative pillows  ?

Hi- I think the most important thing you can do is confirm the locations, times, DJ, & photography. Everything else after that is stuff having to do with the menu ( which should be done in advance but can always be done ) and decor which I believe I heard some people say they have even made changes once they went down there just a few days before their wedding ! SO get on top of your locations and times because the resort fills up quickly and you most likely are not the only wedding that day! Write your coordinator an email.. label it urgent and get a confirmation on the times and locations that you want ! thats my advice

I have another question ( what else is new ) - does anyone have an opinion on the lounge furniture set up on the beach for the cocktail hour ? This is what I orginally confirmed with Yamina, but when Lorena wrote back ( that one time ) she siad she had down for me the jacuzzi area.

I emailed her telling her it was a mistake but I havent really heard anyone on here talk about the lounge furniture set up. I thought it was a cool little feature sitting on the beach on a couch having cocktails but I wonder why noone else really does it.. hmm maybe I made a mistake ? Do you think its not private enough and won't have the look im really picturing ? Any opinions on this would be great, or anyone who did it maybe you have a review to steer me in the right direction ?

chair bows: i cant really see paying $5 per bow when i looked on amazon.com and they have them for less than $1 each. Are most of you ordering your own sashes and bringing them down with you ? Is there a fee for them to put them on which basically makes it cost the same amount anyway ? please help

shoes: im having my ceremony on the beach... so im assuming ill be wearing sandals ? I love heels so im getting a pair for the deck reception anyway to wear for a little and for some pics... but is the runway hard enough to wear heels on or should i find really dressy white snadals ?

flowers: how much about are you guys spending on your bridesmaids bouquets ? mine is included in the ultimate package but i dont want to spend a fortune on flowers.. i think i saw in the catalog that bouquets are at least 60$ ea ? is there any way around this ?

spa: does anyone know about how much it will cost for the bridesmaids to get their hair done at the salon ?

centerpieces : i have the pictures of the centerpieces but there aren't prices next to them so I am not sure how much any of them are... are most of you bringing your own or have any idea about how much the cost of the ones in the catalog are ? this is another thing i dont want to spend a fortune on!

I will say, last night, after doing some customs research, fiance and I took apart all of our packed wedding supply luggage.  We photocopied invoices and divided up each suit case to make sure it's not more than $300 worth of supply.  We highlighted the things in each suitcase and the cost.  We also created itemized lists.  I read some horror stories so we wanted each suitcase to be black and white, clear as day.  I'm not sure if we needed to go through all of that trouble but I will take pics for anyone who wants to see it when we get to the hotel.

 

We're bringing our lap top because we need to communicate with some business back home.  Probably will not be near the computer tomorrow. I will try and update from the resort!  Talk to you ladies when we get back!!!

 

PS - two of our guests arrived today because they extended their stay.  The said it's AMAZING!!!

Hi, i also want to do a private dinner.. mine is going to a rehearsal dinner too instead of a whole welcome dinner but im wondering how much they charged you ? I would probably have about the same amount of people.... are they giving you a section of the restaurant or did you have to pay to have it private? im still confused about this aspect.. plesae let me know when you have a chance

I'm not thrilled about paying for a reservation at an all-inclusive, but it is what it is and our families are so spread out around the country and they have never met so we wanted to have a big family dinner alone.
