  1. okay i finally read through all the posts i missed and WHEW i am happy that some of you had great wedding experiences!! i am officially 2 months away from mine and realizing that I have SOOOOOOOO much to do and plan. it makes me feel better than i can pick a lot of things out once i get there because i am so scared of saying something now and then changing my mind. the set ups for some of your weddings that i just seen are amazing and i wouldnt know how to explain that to Lorena so your pictures are a huge help.

are there any other march 1st brides out here, or march 2nd? lol i know i cant possibly have the day all to myself!! lol

    my times and locations are

    430 north beach ceremony

530 to 630 cocktail hour at desires terrace ( she made an exception since i asked very early on ) also i put one hour in between to allow myself to take pictures and then still go to some of the cocktail hour. does this sound good ?

7-11 reception on the pool deck ( with dance floor and dj - i figure time will fly so i am paying for the extra hour )

    WHEW i am nervous!!!!!!!!!!

the lanterns through the resort are $10 each.. i googled them and found some for about $3 each, but lorena told me they charge a 60$ fee to hang them. i remember hearing on here somewhere that they DONT charge to hang them so i was a little annoyed when she told me that. i am going to decide on either the string of lanterns or the lanterns hanging from those poles ( i like both ) and then decide whats cheaper, bringing my own and paying the 60$, or just getting them through the resort. i am also not sure how many i would bring, or how many i would need to purchase through the resort.... $10 per lantern seems a little steep if you ask me! but we'll see

Looking for help with making up a program letter to give our guests? If anyone has a sample of what they used would be a great help! I am wondering what order to put the wedding ceremony in & what all I should include in it? On the one side I have a welcome note, in loving memory section & a meet & greet Info for a tour we are doing. On the next page I want to do wedding Day - order of ceremony with songs included but do not know the order they do it all in? Should I also include names of bridal party as well?

Thank you for any info you can provide.

i am going to put a welcome letter in my oot bags as well. i was thinking of one side just having the welcome note (but i like your idea of the in loving memory section) and i am going to copy that, and on the other side i am just putting a simple itinerary like locations and times. i am not going to make mine like an actual program with the songs but its your own preferance!! if anyone sends u any good samples please pass them along ;)

I just talked to Eva and she told me that I couldn't get the pool deck for my reception because I need a min. of 60 guests.  Is anyone experiencing this?  I have about 35 people.

    Betty

the firs thing i did when i picked this resort was confirm the pool deck and i quoted her at about 50 people. they never gave me an issue. i actually only have 45 people booked and the wedding is 2 months away..... she never asked (lorena). i would let them know that you know that other brides have less than 60. ( just dont say my name LOL )

    Emily,

We get married March 12th! I think I'm the only bride crazy enough to get married during Spring Break! Trips were obviously pricey but we still have about 70 ppl coming! I'm the same way, on the roller coaster of calm & stress. I haven't heard from Lorena in months but keeping myself busy with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. We still have a lot to do and it seems like time is flying! How long will you be there?

yay another march bride! we are getting there on Tuest feb 29th and leaving Monday March 4th so we wont run into eachother unfortunetly! we are heading to miami for a short honeymoon while my parents babysit our son lol ;) lorena has finally started emailing me back but i still feel kinda lost lol maybe we can help eachother out. she told me to make seperate emails for each part of the wedding with my questions so i did that and am waiting on replies. we have 45 guests booked and another 5 are pending. cant wait!!

  6. thank you ladies for all of the compliments and opinions, it is so funny because I am still completely undecided. When i picture myself in that long veil it just doesnt feel beachy to me yet that "money shot" of standing on the beach with the veil blowing in the wind is almost worth it as one of you pointed out. i guess after i go for my next fitting i will make a decision. I also just watched a slideshow where a girl just had a beautiful flower in her hair and i realized i might go that route and just the dress speak for itself. i am a very indecisive person when it comes to this stuff..... i actually still second guess my dress as not being beachy enough or that the tool at the bottom is too much of a fashion statement LOL i am crazy! do not mind me!

  7. are there any march brides out there ? i am getting married march 1st and i went from stressing to not stressing, and now back to stressing. with the holidays here now and the hurricane here in ny i feel like i lost a lot of valuable time with planning and its really catching up to me.

i am not even sure what exactly should be my main focus now and im starting to panic i emailed lorena 3 weeks ago and have not heard back lol i feel like i started out very organized and now im a lost puppy lol i am grateful for the positive reviews however because i am trying to follow your advice of not stressing LOL thanx girls

  8. hey everyone... so i finally went for my try on appointment ( still needs to be fitted ) and it was the first time i saw my dress in all ivory and i loved it ;) i tried it on in champagne ivory and made the switch to all ivory without ever seeing it so i was terrified. anyway i cannot decide between a birdcage veil and a long veil.... i decided the short veil is not for me so its one of these.... after the ceremony i am just going to put a flower/sparkly clip thing in my hair.. all opinions are welcome ;) also there were other brides there who were having destiantion weddings and ALL of them had on simpler dresses than mine... had me thinking maybe my dress is a little more much for my beach wedding =*( i LOVE the dress but maybe i made a mistake ? i dont want to look like a fool !! so here are the pics . . . also after the ceremony the back of the dress will be bustled up i just didnt get a pic of it... please let me know if you think i went a lil overboard for a wedding on the beach... and which headpiece looks best.. thank you ;)

  9. can someone remind me how to post pics on here it is not working for me !?!?!??!?!

so many beautiful dresses here i am never going to want to stop shopping! but my dress is finally in and i am going for my try on appointment next week and will post pics. i am having anxiety that i am not going to lvoe it. i am the girl who had to go back and try it on again and fell in love the 2nd time, now i am having doubts again and am nervous and i am hoping it all goes away when its zippered up lol this forum is not helping!! lol i am nervous also that my fiance wont love it, he is pretty simple and probably expecting me in a plain flowy dress or a princessy one and i went straight mermaid. heres a reminder of the dress. ..... cant wait to see how i feel next week!!! also to the girl with that lace mermaid dress you look stunning and that other mermaid i will find it again and comment... i am in love with it as someone else said " im in awe of it " its gorgeous.

not sure how to put the picture right in here . . .

My wedding is April 30th... Im getting BEYOND STRESSED ...

The resort is beautiful however Eva is telling me the only option for my reception is the ballroom... and the whole point of having a mexico wedding is to have something outdoors... I dont want the beach because I dont want to be on sand and it will be dark....

Im wondering if its because there are other weddings booked... So many previous brides have had access to pool deck or seaside girll.

Is anyone else having this problem at all? wheres everyone's ceremony,.... im super sad =(

Hey girl, I would be really upset too but when I picked my date I first asked them to give me a list of dates available where I would be able to use the pool deck because I had my heart set on it and then i chose from there. Did you pick your date without any of that info ? or did they say it was available and now its not ? drc does a lot of weddings so you have to ask those kinds of questions first. I would see about changing the date. LEt them know you want the pool deck or sea side grill and to tell you available dates for it and then when you pick the date have them email you a confirmation letter stating that is YOUR location. it most likely was given to another bride already. I guess you have to decide whats more important, that date, or the locations you want. to me the locations were more important.. good luck!!! also a side note, i saw some pictures of weddings on the beach and they are lit beautifully and it looks reallt really pretty. so if you are stuck with the beach.. dont panic!

I'd rather pay for it to get it done and not have to travel with anything but theses prices are a bit excessive.  Not to mention these are 2012 prices.  What are you guys doing as far as centerpieces, flowers, etc?

I agree with you here, the centerpiece i picked has a lot going on so if something simple is $60 i can just imagine what mine will be! any ideas on what you end up doing to make it cheaper please share ;) I am not spending $90 on each bouquet ( i have 5 bridesmaids ) because they are going to hold them for 20 minutes and then take a few pictures and then put them down on a table somewhere so no way am i spending 500$ on them lol flowers are not really important to me, so its hard for me to accept lol when i was at drc i did see a wedding taking place where the girls held cute little clutches instead of flowers- it was actually very modern and i am trying to think of a cute idea as well ( or fake/cheaper flowers ) lol

Savanah I love your invitations!! Mine are in the process of being done and I have to say that yours are VERY VERY cute. . i especially like the way you did the response card with the "reserve ___ beach chairs". . . i will post a picture of mine when they are done also ;) i am making my response date 2 months before so that i can have an official count and prepare OOT bags and other things like that although people already started to book without invitations lol do you think its silly to ask for a reply 2 months in advance ? also i am doing a plated dinner and the resort needs my dinners 1 month in advance so i guess i have no choice

I used to work for an AV company and all AV companies I've worked with do not specialize in DJ'ing.

The resorts DJ is Visual Sounds i have a feeling you were emailed by an outside vendor. [email protected] is the email address the resorts DJ had contacted me from, you can email them and ask if they are available, they responded pretty fast and seem very nice. I also read some pretty good reviews and he sends a sheet for you to fill out so he understands the style of music you like. The DJ is my biggest worry but I am taking my chances with them!

    Hi Ladies,

I definitely need some advice from you brides who have already been married.

I am getting married in May 2013 and wanted to use Anel.  I had been talking to Yamina about it and she told me not to book Anel yet.  Well, when Yamina disappeared I figured I may as well contact Anel since no one would have the history of our conversation.

Long story short, Anel was already booked for my wedding. :(

I am super bummed and annoyed that I was told to wait and now lost my chance.  Either way, I want to know how the other photographers are.  Do any of you have feedback?  Should I be looking outside of the resort?  DO you think I will be ok?

Please please please pass on all your feedback.  The wedding is so far away but I am stressince since I want to make sure I have pictures for the guests that cant come.

    Thanks!

Anel is not available for mine either but i am not worried because if you look on their site which i dont have the link to right now but its around somewhere all of them are pretty similar. i have seen some reviews with slideshows from the other photographers from drc and they do excellent work. i think one is francisco and one is santiago. the videos i seen do not have me worried at all ;) dont stress ! theres a bride katie beth if you look at the reviews and her pics were gorgeous and taken by one of the male photographers... also when i did my site visit i took some photos by the pool with these iguanas they were carrying around and long sroy short the pics were done realy well and i went into their studio and saw them all working hard. also it was one of the guys who took the pics just didnt get his name

  19. Hey girl i am getting married on March 1st and having my ceremony at 4:30 but this is just a random thought thats been bothering me.... i have been to mexico in the winter, i went early january once and yes the sun does set earlier but i remember being in the pool till at least 5. i saw you wrote 4:45 complete darkness and for some reason it just isnt making sense to me. can anyone shed some light on this ?

We plan on having the mariachi band there on the beach for the guests and also us taking some pictures there with them so we can enjoy it a little bit before we take the rest of our pictures. Atleast that's how I have it pictured in my head. Of course it could change after we talk to Lorena once we get there.

When in December are you getting married? Something you might want to look at is the time it gets dark... We're getting married December 17th and Anel (the photographer) told me that 4pm was too late for the ceremony. She said there won't be any time for photos after the ceremony because it will be too dark.

She sent me this website: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=923

She said to keep in mind the time listed there is when the last ray of sun is and on the beach it gets dark about 25 minutes before the time listed. So, we're looking at about a 4:45 complete darkness on Dec 17th!! We are starting our ceremony at 3:30 so hopefully we'll have a good 45 minutes of pictures before it gets dark. And I think we'll be taking them right at sunset.

    Hope this helps! :)
