  1. You can bring the lanterns, but not the sparklers. Unfortunately they fall under the "fireworks and explosives" category and are prohibited in carry on and checked luggage. Our WC, Blanca is getting them locally for us and they are $1.50 each. We plan on using them during our first dance. Depending on what you get your fiancé, personal items (jewelry, etc) are not included in the $300 you have to claim for customs. If it is a watch or something similar, he could always wear it when going through customs. You wouldn't want to pack something too valuable anyway, just in case. Also, about the bar...they have your basic liquors and a few beers. No frozen drinks and only serve wine at dinner. I asked Blanca if they had Malibu or similar coconut rum, but they do not. If you have a favorite or specific liquor that you want to drink the night of or use in a specialty cocktail, you can buy it locally and bring it with. We plan on doing this for our specialty cocktail and Blanca said it is no problem. Hope this helps!
  2. Thanks so much! Those are our engagement photos. Eva took the photos and Pierre assisted. We ordered the Andale package for the wedding day which includes Eva and an assistant. I feel confident that she will be able to capture all of the special moments without a 2nd photographer, but if it is in you budget to get the larger package, you definitely should! We opted to put the money towards a videographer, because we figured that anything that was missed in photos will be caught on film. Good luck!
  3. We are using Photoshoots Vallarta. We met and worked with Eva and Pierre last November for our engagement shoot (which was included in our package for free). They are extremely nice and professional. We LOVE our pictures and can't imagine having anyone other than Eva capture our wedding day. Their prices are super reasonable as well. Keep in mind that there is an additional $300 fee for using an outside photographer. I've attached a few of our favorite engagement photos.
  4. Congrats and welcome! November is perfect in PV (we are getting married this November, on the 16th at Las Caletas ) Be sure to let us know if you have any questions along the way - I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we are more than happy to help! Happy planning!! Lauren
  5. Hi! Our wedding isn't until this November, but we did our site visit last November, so I think I can help a bit. The bathrooms are very clean. One thing to mention is that you are not allowed to flush tp. There is a waste basket beside the toilet for disposal. Sooo dimmer light is probably better for this reason, LOL. I have extreme motion sickness. I took Dramamine before I boarded the boat and was totally fine. It was rough at times, so I would suggest this to guests who have a history of sea sickness. We are including Dramamine in our welcome bags with a note telling guests to take it before the boat ride. Sitting on the upper level and looking forward at the horizon always helps me, too. The crew has some Dramamine available onboard, but by the time you take it on the boat, it will be too late. If you do provide it, make sure to get non-drowsy formula, so guests aren't sleepy at the wedding. I've read that the boat ride back is much smoother and by that time, most people are too drunk or having too much fun to notice. I plan on going barefoot for the ceremony, but bringing sandals to change into for dinner and dancing. I don't know if I would wear flip flops and risk kicking up sand while walking. I would recommend sandals with a strap or none at all. The dance floor looks like it is covered in Astroturf, so if this would bother you while dancing, sandals would be the way to go. Hope this helps! Happy planning!
  6. Hi DarlingD! Congrats!! Las Caletas is absolutely amazing! We are bringing a TON of stuff too. We purchased everything at home because I am also very involved in the details and most things were cheaper here and online. Our theme is rustic beach. We also worked in some Mexican traditions and décor to highlight the location. We have runners, table lanterns, wish lanterns, centerpieces, papel picado flags, bridal party gifts, maracas, sand dollars, OOT bag stuff and sooooo much more. I am getting nervous just listing all of it, so packing should be an adventure! We are flying 1st class (only on the way there) because tickets were only $30 more and we get an extra checked bag each and 20 lbs. extra in each bag. So we are actually SAVING MONEY!! by flying 1st class...crazy, isn't it? We bought some plastic bins at Target so that after the wedding, we can leave them there and not have to fly back with them like we would if we used expensive luggage. Make sure you have receipts for everything, so it doesn't look like you planning on selling anything. I made a bunch of fake ones with prices much lower than we paid for most stuff (you can use Microsoft word for this or buy a receipt book at an office store.) I spoke with our WC, Blanca and she plans on coming to our resort a day or 2 before to grab everything, so the only thing I will have to carry the day of is my dress, makeup and whatever other personal belongings I need to get ready. Hope this helps!
  7. I totally agree! We are also getting married Nov 16th and staying at Dreams PV. We are planning on using the Mexican Fiesta night as our "Welcome Dinner" because brides have said they are much more willing to push tables together and accommodate large groups on this night. When we have other group dinners, we just plan on showing up and hoping to sit somewhat close to each other. When we went to Dreams last November for our site visit, most of the restaurants were empty or at least had plenty of space, but if we are all getting married in November, this should be interesting LOL.
  8. Krista, We are getting married on Nov 16th, too!! We are getting married at Las Caletas, but we will be staying at Dreams PV the week of! Hope we bump into each other Lauren
  9. Hi Ladies! I posted this in the Dreams thread also but figured I would ask you guys, too. I would like to get a hair and makeup trial done a few days before the wedding and would ideally like the stylist to come to the resort to do the trial. However, when planning our engagement photo session during our site visit, Dreams said we would have to pay a $50 fee to allow our photographer on the beach and/or resort. I know Ann mentioned going into town and having her trial done in the salon but not sure if that has changed since then. Waiting to hear back from Blanca about other options. Has anyone who stayed at Dreams PV used an off-site stylist or vendor days before the wedding? If you have, did you have to pay a guest fee? I would really like to avoid a fee for a stylist just to come to our room for an hour. Thanks in advance for any info!
  10. Hi Ladies! While I am not getting married at Dreams (our wedding will be at Las Caletas), we will be staying there with our guests the week of the wedding. I would like to get a hair and makeup trial done a few days before the wedding and would ideally like the stylist to come to the resort to do the trial. 11. Hi! I said cricut because I figured more people know what that is...I actually used a silhouette machine (which is very similar). I designed the template in adobe illustrator and then opened that in the silhouette program. I drew the shapes based on an invitation I saw on Etsy, (but couldn't imagine paying $400 for just 25 invitations). It is an extremely time consuming process and illustrator is not an easy program to use unless you have been trained or have experience with it. There are many similar papel picado invitations available on Etsy now though if you're interested in saving yourself the headache. Good luck!
  12. Kate, you look beautiful and I love your hair! Your photographer did a great job! I love the pictures of you and your husband strolling on the beach. Congrats!!
  13. Here is the menu I made. Each is framed (bought cheap frames from Michaels and painted them white). There will be one in the center of each table. Our dinner will be served buffet-style, so while a menu wasn't really necessary, I thought some of our guests would appreciate reading what there is to offer. (I apologize for the image in the reflection...I think it's me taking the pic )
  14. As you can see, we are planning on giving our guests a lot of goodies at our wedding. I had paper bags that I originally purchased for OOT bags, but then decided upgrade to a canvas bag. So I created & printed out a large papel picado image on label paper and stuck it to the front of the bags. I now wish I used "gracias" rather than "thank you," but the stickers took so long to cut out that I'm leaving it as is. I added tags (because I don't know how to stop once I get started! haha) One tag says our names and the other, our wedding date. We thought these bags would help our guests transport all of their favors, especially because they will be boarding a boat to get back to Dreams.
  15. To continue with the Christmas ornament tradition, we are also including small plastic Christmas balls to be given to guests to fill with Las Caletas Sand as we do our sand ceremony. We will also be filling a Christmas ball with sand rather than a bottle. Our niece will walk around before the sand ceremony to distribute the balls. I purchased the balls on Oriental Trading.com and put a small piece of cardstock with our wedding info inside. I added twine for hanging. This was a quick DIY project that I think will make our guests feel involved in an intimate moment and really add a special touch to our ceremony.
