  1. RachelTX what dates will you be at AS? I arrive on the 2nd, so maybe I'll see you...?
  2. Dori, are you back from your wedding? Can't wait to hear about all of the details
  3. Hi Rachel, yes some of the girls here have previously used Caribe (haven't heard anyone using Matias though). It all depends on how much of a priority photography is for you as well as what your budget allows to spend. I personally decided to go with Dean Sanderson- even with the outside vendor fee of $800, overall I am spending only a bit more than what a Matias Cano package would have ended up costing. Other girls have also decided to use Mexico based photographers, while some bring photographers from back home so that they can have a photographer to document all the wedding week events.

  5. Rachel, I say give her a shot especially if you haven't had any contact with her yet! I'm working with her as one of my WC's, and so far I've had no problems, and I'm happy with how the planning has been going!
  6. Shutterfly is having a 50% off deal on hardcover books until July 11. Enter code: X4N8-8GTE-131K-KRDXBP I've never made a photobook before, so hopefully I can make something decent by the 11th!
  7. I can't stand the use of "hubby" at any time! Huge pet peeve...haha
  8. Another way to go is to not include anything about gifts, registries, etc. And when people start to ask have your bridal party/family inform them that you do not want people to buy you a gift.
  9. Welcome! Come head over the Canadian Brides forum!
  10. Hello ladies! So after last week's bag decorating mishap, I tried to put together a design for both the girls and guys, which I will attempt to put on the bags via iron-on transfer paper. What do you think? For the guys: For the girls:
  11. Thank you so much for the suggestion! It's the first time I've heard of the Vitamin String Quartet, and they seem to have some awesome songs!
  12. I'm really set on Canon in D for my walk down the aisle. Any recomendations for an instrumental for the bridesmaids to walk down to?
  13. Wanted to let you girls about another deal I recently came across- until July 24, Papyrus is offering 20% off custom print orders. I am planning on getting some cocktail napkins printed.
  14. I'd ask for her to send you some sort of documentation that states the Canadian exclusion- there is no good reason why that should be the case. Good luck!
  15. Who is your WC? I told mine (Amanda & Valeria) that is what my FI & I wanted, and no one told us we couldn't have it. That seems a bit ridiculous to me that someone told you Canadians don't qualify- on both the Karisma & Lomas websites no exclusion criteria are listed for nationality; I would fight this!!!
  16. Sorry to hear about the frames! As I already mentioned, I am disheartened about my lack of progress with my current DIY as well. What about gluing gold painted shells to a lavendar background? Happy for you about the luggage tags! They look great I like the original beach picture with the lavendar back for personal information.
  17. I actually went with the the Free Sweet Wedding package because it worked out to be cheaper for us to pay for add-ons to the free package as we weren't going to use a lot of the included items in any of the other packages. You should calculate how much each of the individual items you want costs and the figure if any of the packages work out to be a "deal" for you!

  19. Happy start of the weekend! I a a bit frustrated, and I think other brides are the only ones who truly understand! We decided to forgo doing an OOT bag, but instead are doing custom tote beach bags for our guests. After considering the methods to do this, I thought I'd buy stencils and paint- well after spending an hour very carefully prepping and lining and taping stencils in place and applying several coats of paint, the project turned out to be disastorous!!! The paint leaked outside of the stencil edges. That resulted in 2 trips back and forth to Michael's for alternate supplies, but again more disaster! So a good 5 hrs down the drain Silk screening is out of the question because it'll be too expensive per item. Initially I didn't want to do iron on transfer images because my bags are black, so unless the design is in a perfect square or circle that I can cut out, I'll have the white of the transfer paper go on to the bag, which I don't want. But now I think I will have to redesign what I want on the bags and attempt the iron on route...wish me luck! I like DIY, but oh man, sometimes it can be so frustrating!!!
  20. Hi Chelsey! Congratulations on your engagement!!! My FI and I chose AS with the help of our TA based on several requirements- $1500-2000 per person for a week with flights included, all ages, 5 star resort, wedding experts, several wedding locations to chooose from, recommended salon on site. When my TA came back with several selections for us in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, we were sold on AS when we heard it's a Gourmet Inclusive resort and that our TA's sister had gotten married on another Karisma property and absolutely loved it! Our other options in Mexico were Dreams and NOW resorts, but we found the best overall value for our money was at AS. So we are absolutely thrilled!!! I highly recommend that whatever resort you choose, you go through a TA that has worked with destination brides in the past that can help you and you guests with the booking process. And if you want to book at a Karisma resort, make sure your TA is GI certified so you can get added perks. Once you have a date in mind, you submit an online application for that date to see if it's available for you. (http://www.karismahotels.com/Occasions/Weddings/Book) You will hear back within a week usually whether you have your date and then will be put in contact with an off-site WC. Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any more questions
