  1. beach clubs are a great idea. blue venado is awesome (though you would have to hire a bus to get people there and back, its about 15 mins from playa del carmen) good points about it are - completely private, food is great (i did a tasting), they have food and open bar packages which are great value. it has lots of space. they have no outside vendor fees, with the provision that you get your food/drink from them
  2. I saw these pictures and i thought theyd be super cute during the day. As far as i remember though, there wouldnt be anything to hang them from on the walk to the gazebo. there are no handrails or anything. Anyone who has been there, do you know if theres somewhere to hang them?!
  3. I think (and correct me if im wrong) the first and second picture matt just added show the free coconut decorations supplied by xcaret! what im ideally hoping to find is different examples of people adding petals, small arrangements, draping etc...just to see what the options are. Im using a tiny bit of the budget for my civil wedding at sandos, then a bit more for the chapel...and probably trying to use most of the flower/decor budget for la isla. I do think all of the venues are beautiful as they are though, so shouldnt need more than a few enhancing touches
  4. thats exactly what i mean! blue and yellow, blue and pink, blue and orange all work....but you cant really put them all together. bleugh. its just so pretty as it is. sigh. i need to think more about alternatives
  5. blue flowers seem really limited to be honest and the ones that exist are a lot lighter. but i hadnt thought of napkins etc though so that could work, thanks!! or a blue table runner on a white table cloth? but maybe that'd be too much concentrated colour in the centre. i could maybe bring a touch of blue on the cake too...blue and orange ribbons with orange flowers. mmmmmm i feel a bit overwhelmed!
  6. so, my colours are going to be orange and blue. the bridesmaids dresses are Dessy, sapphire blue (see below) and theyll have orange bouquets for catholic ceremony, and maybe orange parasols for the civil ceremony outside: then i saw this cake and kind of loved it! but its not ordered yet so thats flexible Thing is, i saw this centrepice and fell in love with it - it looks so warm and tropical to me. I kind of want it "as it is" as i think its perfect. but i guess the pink and yellow might make it a bit random. i wouldnt have a pink tablecloth, i guess id go for white. but where else would i bring in the blue (other than BM dresses which are already bought) i just dont know how to pull it all together! does it matter if the only blue is for the dresses? im lost! thanks =)
  7. Im glad i found this thread. im trying to find my perfect design right now. right now im thinking plain ribbon in one of my colours (orange and blue), possibly some flowers or
  8. ooops sorry i didnt see you already explained the gold bracelet! i was reading very quickly
  9. drtenesha- so what do the gold bracelets give you then? is it worth paying the extra? im glad you had the basic package with only a few extras. ive been debating whether i want to add things or not, but i think now ill leave it quite simple as it sounds great Matt - thanks for the pics of the parasols. actually my bridesmaids will be wearing a slightly lighter blue, so im thinking of yellow or orange. it definitely looks cute! pretty AND practical, as i think the sun will be quite strong! I cant find a site in Mexico to order them from which is frustrating (i already live in mexico so seems easier if i could find them here rather than importing them from the US!) starfishie - very helpful, so thanks! its giving me a good idea of how much to budget for! though i do wonder how many bags of petals i would need, i do really like them. This site makes wedding planning SO much easier =)
  10. actually, im still a pinterest newbee but i think i can give other people permission to pin on the boards right? if anyone has good photos might be nice to have them added and in one place
  11. i havent got very far yet - but here is a link to the pinterest boards im making http://pinterest.com/jessctaylor/xcaret-st-francis-assisi-chapel/ http://pinterest.com/jessctaylor/xcaret-la-isla/ they show a few pics with different coloured lighting. a bit of draping and what not. im hoping ill find more...but its going very slowly!!
  12. Thanks, that really helps! im debating having parasols instead of flowers but im not sure Any one else know how many pople fit into the wedding gazebo - its under 25 right?! i swear all my sandos information seems to have vanished
  13. does anyone have an idea of how much any of the flowers cost? id ask lupita...but i havent got a set idea of hwat i want yet. a ballpark figure would really help!
  14. oops i forgot - st francis chapel and la isla restaurant, marck 9 2013!!
  15. there are a lot of coach/bus options to get your guests there. blue venado was approx 20 mins from playa del carmen i think - 15 mins down the highway then 5 or so minutes down the track to get there. so you can stay pretty much anywhere you want, but i think its better to try to stay within 30 mins driving distance
